He took his time to take my key apart, get the new battery and replaced it all for me. He was so kind and friendly and went way above and beyond!!! “My wife and I recently moved to Higganum, CT and just now discovered Higganum Hardware. The owners, two brothers, Taylor and Jarrett, opened the store in fall 2021. While young, they are dedicated to customer service and a huge variety of everything from nuts and bolts to Ben Moore Paints, to equipment...a huge variety of quality hardware goods. I asked them, what encouraged them to open the store...the answer, We looked at what Higganum needed and did not have...a Hardware Store. While we believe in the saying SHOP LOCAL, you also want high quality products, good service and location close to where you live and or work. Higganum Hardware fits all three. Go in once, you will choose Higganum Hardware as your go to store again and again. Simply the Best as Tina would say. Julian”
“There are two True Value stores at almost equal distances from my house: Killingworth and Country Paint and Hardware in North Branford. Both stores are well-stocked, and I can almost always get what I need at either one. Floor staff at both are friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. The difference is at the checkout stand. At Country, the cashiers will greet you with "Hi, how are you today? Did you find everything you needed?" They will then ring up your purchases and, at the last, politely ask for your phone number for the rewards program. But at Killingworth, without making eye contact or any greeting, the two usual cashiers bark "Phone number?" and engage you no further. Once you're done, you pick up your things and say to them, "Thanks, have a good day." They don't respond because they are barking at the next customer, "Phone number?" Leaves a bad impression. It takes so little to make a good one.”
“I’ve been working with Horton since 1975 when I worked with the owners grandparents. They are the best. Businesses just aren’t like this anymore and it’s sad that more don’t track like Horton’s, always toward the quality”

My most recent visit had me returning something without a receipt and it went quickly and smoothly.

“The old 'Higganum Feed' was a dump and the people working the same sort you'd encounter at an inner city auto shop. The place is under new management which clearly takes pride in the appearance of the place and the gentleman behind the counter is friendly and helpful. Give it a try and you'll see for yourself. And no, no interest in the place, couldn't tell you the owners name.”
