The Roger Sherman Inn is a cozy and warm establishment with great ambience and festive decor. The atmosphere is often praised, with low traditional music that allows for easy conversation. Service experiences vary, with some reviews noting attentive, great, and lovely staff, while others report so-so or delayed service, especially during busy times like holidays or Saturday nights. Seating can sometimes be in cramped, busy areas like a corridor or enclosed porch, which impacts comfort. The food is generally very good, excellent, and really delicious, with excellent presentation. Highlights include a tasty hamburger, nicely prepared duck, and fresh bread. The menu selection, including prix fixe options, offers a manageable variety and can accommodate dietary restrictions. However, some items receive criticism; the lobster bisque can taste commercial, and desserts like the chocolate mousse are considered tasteless. Despite occasional disappointments, many guests express a desire to return, noting it as a wonderful place for celebrations like Christmas Eve or anniversary dinners.
We had a delicious meal on a beautiful summer night dining on the porch celebrating a birthday. ALL our food was excellent (Escargot, Wild Mushrooms, Grenadin of Veal & Weiner Schnitzel)! We also enjoyed an after dinner drink in the Adirondack chairs on the lawn - great setting under the evening sky.

A somewhat limited menu was the only negative. Service was good - a bit slow, but overall fine. Food was well prepared and attractively presented.

Food was exceptional and seems to be a return to the quality I've always expected from the RSI.
