Pet Care

Dr. Robb's Protect The Pets
98 S Main St, NewtownI am giving this 5star review based on just 2 phone calls I had with Dr. Robb and his team over a 5yr span for our lol guy Enzo the lilac Boston terrier. He has guided me through his puppy year and now our guy will need surgery typical to BOAS bred animals and we are opting for none other than Dr. Robb. We live all the way in Canada ??..heres to hoping we can get him over that way to finally see/meet dr. Robb and the crew.?? I found him back on 2019 on a you tube post and I knew jusy from hearing that interview that this man is has extreme passion for proper veterinary care..the kind that heals not steals!! Thanks so much for all that you and your team do. ?

Fairfield Equine Associates
32 Barnabas Rd, NewtownThis is a 5 Star Review! Highly recommend! My horse, Chief, underwent emergency small-intestinal surgery (removal and resection of 4’ of the small intestine due to constriction) at Fairfield Equine, and I could not be more grateful for the incredible care he received. Thanks to the exceptional skill and quick action of Dr. Crandall, Dr. Edwards, and the entire team of interns, technicians, and staff, Chief recovered fully without a single complication or setback. From the moment we arrived, the professionalism and competence of the surgical team were clear. The clinic itself was immaculate, organized, and clearly designed with patient safety in mind. Chief was monitored continuously, groomed, cleaned, and treated with the kind of attentive and compassionate care you hope for but rarely find. One of the things that meant the most to me was the communication. I received detailed updates every morning and evening, giving me complete peace of mind during a very stressful time. It was obvious that everyone involved truly cared about Chief’s wellbeing. I was always encouraged to visit him any time I wanted which was very important to the both of us. In addition, Dr. Crandall goes above and beyond in responding to questions immediately! Because of Fairfield Equine’s rapid response, surgical excellence, and meticulous postoperative management, Chief had the best possible outcome—a full recovery and a return to his normal, happy self. I cannot thank Dr. Crandall, Dr. Edwards, and the entire Fairfield Equine team enough. Their expertise and compassion are second to none. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone facing an equine emergency or in need of top-tier veterinary care. I am profoundly grateful and appreciative!

Bark Fit LLC
1 Johnnie Cake Ln, NewtownGraham is an amazing trainer. I have worked with him in training two Shepherds over the years. Graham develops gentle and patient individual training methodologies customized to the client. Each of my Shepherds had very different training needs. The first was a difficult rescue that needed significant socialization and the second a talented kennel dog with little obedience training. Not only were the training programs very successful, but also each dog were excited to see Graham each week. I totally recommend Graham for all levels of training!

Cassio Pet Resort & Training Center - Newtown, CT
173 Mt Pleasant Rd, NewtownI truly have to say that as a pet parent with somewhat difficult dogs, this experience was fantastic. We take a family trip every year; and had a place that our animals loved going to for years. Unfortunately they has closed due to Covid and we were forced to take our dogs elsewhere. Last year we brought them to a different kennel- my animals were NOT the same when we got them back and I felt defeated, broken and sad that I had put my faith in them and they changed my dogs for the worst. I had written off kennels; I was considering having my family come from out of state just so my "kids" didn't have to go through that again. Well as fate would have it, none of my family was available to watch the dogs while we were away. I had to find somewhere I felt comfortable; and truly after last years experience I didn't feel comfortable with anyone. I stumble upon Cassio which is very far from our home. But something about it; told me to give them a try. I called asked if they had availability- conveniently they did. I was walked through the process- let them know I was nervous and how my dogs "are". The staff was informative, helpful, kind and understanding. They do a "trial" to make sure everyone is comfortable first. The trial went very well. I was shocked. Our dogs just spent the last 6 days at Cassio and they came back to us in the same condition we left them in, high spirits and happy; no missing nails, no metal on their teeth from trying to escape, no fear stricken look in their eyes; just happy, playful dogs. My heeler was actually referred to as a "good boy" by someone other than me;for the first time. It did not by any means feel like the staff were trying to blow smoke- I really felt that they were able to connect with him; which doesn't happen, not at the groomer the vet or with anyone. My pit; who is nervous around new people and places was happy. Neither dog looked like they were "happy to be out of there" like the last place. They just seemed genuinely happy to see us. Thank you so much for loving our dogs the way we do. We will definitely be using Cassio next year. - Rooster and Repos mom

BD Provisions
125 S Main St, NewtownMy now husband and I have long enjoyed popping in to BD provisions to purchase unique, local, and eco-friendly gifts for each other as well as for our loved ones. Some of our favorite items are their peanut butters, granola, and chocolate covered pretzels. We have gifted cocktail mixes, teas, dips, and more. Two weeks before our wedding in July, we decided we wanted to add another local tribute to our home state when putting our welcome bags together.
Cynthia from BD Provisions was prompt, professional, and more than willing to make sure that the 55 bags of chocolate covered pretzels we requested were ready in less than one week. She even put together a sample bag with the draft label and white bow and sent us a picture prior to moving forward with putting together the rest of the bags. It was a very thoughtful gesture and we knew we were in good hands.
Two days before we were expecting our wedding guests to check into the room block, we were told that additional wedding guests had booked rooms at the hotel. My husband decided to drive over to BD to package 10 more chocolate covered pretzel bags himself, thinking that two days before the wedding, we would have to do without the detailed packaging for the remaining guests. When he stepped into the store, Cynthia recognized him from picking up the order the week before, and immediately offered to run to assemble the bags with a bow, making sure that all of our wedding guests were equally cared for.
This was a huge testament to how caring of a business BD Provisions is. We are so grateful for their thoughtfulness and look forward to continuing to support them in the future!

Newtown Park & Bark
21 Old Farm Rd, NewtownPermit required so it's not a good fit if you're passing through, as we were. That said, it looks very well maintained and clean. The adjacent wildlife refuge DOES allow leashed dogs and has lovely walking trails. You can reach it by continuing past the dog park on a narrow blacktop road to a small gravel parking area.
