“Visited the post office around 4pm on a Wednesday. The gentlemen working recognized that we were not super familiar with postage and kindly taped our package (while noting that it did need to be taped), helped us figure out the zip code to an address we were given the incorrect zip code to, and gave us the address of the nearest UPS for a return we needed to make through them. We were very thankful for his patience and assistance.”
“Wow! I’ve never experienced such kindness at a post office!
I came in to mail a box of birthday gifts for my 1-year-old granddaughter, but I wasn’t fully prepared. I didn’t have tape, and the first staff member (an Indian lady) told me to go buy some for $3.50. She also measured my box and said because it was slightly oversized, the postage would be nearly $40 instead of $25. I left, disappointed.
Sitting in my car, I decided to try again. I taped up the box using some recycled tape and went back inside. The first lady was gone, replaced by another Indian lady and an older gentleman named Abe. While she was a bit slower, Abe impressed me right away—he was serving customers swiftly and efficiently, often working with two at once. He clearly knew what he was doing and kept the line moving.
When it was my turn, Abe remeasured my box. Unfortunately, the first lady had been right—it was still too big for the lower rate. He gently asked if I’d consider reboxing it, which motivated me to give it a shot. I left again, thinking I might not bother—but I came back a third time.
Abe waved me over and, to my surprise, offered to help me! He found not one, but two boxes used boxes, tested them both, and helped me tape it all up with care. While doing this, he kept serving others, moving nonstop with grace and patience.
I know it’s not customary for USPS to assist customers with taping, let alone packaging stuff. And, being here multiple times I’ve never seen this, here or at any US post offices across the country. But, obviously this man noticed my dilemma and took it upon himself to be a kind soul.
Abe went far above and beyond. His kindness, efficiency, and generosity absolutely made my day. I hope his boss sees this acknowledgement of his excellent service. Because of people like him, the world truly is a better place. Thank you so much, Abe!”
“Awesome small town USPS. Parking isn't the best due to the building being built in the 1960's. Avoid the rush times 11:00-1:30, and 3:30. Frank and Kim are great at what they do.”
“May not have everything a bigger post office has but Berlin is very fortunate to have a total of 3 post offices for such a small town. Gets the job done and for me very convenient”
“Stephanie has been very helpful every time I come to send my packages. She answers my questions patiently with a smile on her face. Seems to know other regulars and calls them by name to greet them. Great customer service!!”
“I like this post office. It is much better than going to the New Britain post office (in my humble opinion). I am usually able to get in and out of here quickly.
The staff here is always helpful to me.
There are cheaper options for shipping larger items, but as far as the U.S. Postal Service goes, this place is top notch.”
“Kind of small for a post office but I have seen smaller but does it really matter how big the size of the building is they get the job done and that's what matters plus they have Po boxes available for people if they need them and what ever else u may need to send stuff.”
“So Julie at Cromwell post office was rude and unhelpful- the manager at Cromwell agreed and got us into Middletown post office for our passport
We were met with 2 individuals Sue and Bree who were helpful, service friendly and knew who Julie was bc they had dealt with several others that had bad experiences at Cromwell
Therefore this is a shout out to those individuals- Julie and Bree- who went out of the way to help us- when the rest of the postal service let us down- and were kind humans
Middletown post office- Bree and Sue- thank you- to your manager that helped us and runs a kind service friendly office”
“The manager is extremely helpful and friendly, would highly recommend this post office. I called the wrong office yet he was still happy to assist me with tracking down a package even though it didn't pass through his zipcode. Very pleasant and easy to talk to on the phone. Five Stars.”
“Today I had THE MOST ENJOYABLE experience and interaction that I have ever had with a USPS employee! ASIA deserves to be recognized by management for her exemplary customer service. She is outstanding, and is most deserving of a bonus, a raise, and a promotion!
She was the only employee working, it was 10 mins before closing, and yet she was still smiling brightly, and was professional, polite, kind, and energetic with each and every customer! Asia was a true bright point in my day today, and I'm sure in many others' as well. In my 50+ years, how many times have I said that about an employee at the Post Office, well, not until today.
Thank you for your kindness and positive energy, Asia! If only more people in the world were like you...

“Typically efficient, and I'm able to get in & out in a reasonable amount of time.
Once in a while, they have fewer staff and if you happen to walk in at the same time as a bunch of others the wait can be longer. However, you can't plan for this.”
“I live in west Hartford but I hate the post offices near me so I went there I feel good because of one young lady name is Kay she is so helpful and she done so quick 4 passport in just 30 min thank you so much Kay 4 star just for you”
“Dec 2024. Whole new staff at the Cromwell Post Office. They are fun, informative, and always kind to me and my son. 10/10 I love doing business at the Cromwell Post Office!”
“5 stars for Johnathan at the customer service desk. Jonathan stands out he’s fast and efficient. Two other employees went to the back to “look” for my package came back saying no package. Jonathan said let me take a look two minutes later hands me my package. Thank you Jonathan!”
“I'm waiting on a package, but I found out that packages are heavier this year than it's been in 30 years. I feel for those mail workers around Christmas.”
“These guys have been absolutely incredible in the process of locating my packages. The pastfew years I have moved around the state and dealt with many post offices across Connecticut, and Portland by far cares the most about the individuals in this town. Not sure if they got a new post master or what exactly happened because when I first moved here I was having some minor delivery issues, but they seriously go above and beyond to help people out and they deserve some real recognition for it.Be a decent human when you talk to them- they’re stretched very thin, and still are managing to do their best despite the circumstances. They risk their lives daily to get us our Amazon packages and Time magazine subscriptions. Thank you guys.”
