“What a breath of fresh air! Unlike other USPS locations, this one was spacious, not crowded, and with kind staff.
My wife, nine-year-old daughter, and I walked in on a Friday in September to renew our daughter's passport. Even though they have walk in hours at 9am on Fridays, we made an appointment for 10am online.
Right away, Cherry helped us. She was very patient and kind. She took our daughter's photo, copied a few documents, and walked us through the completed application. We were on our way within 15-20 minutes.
This USPS is inside the National Postal Museum in the building that's the first federal building named after a woman. It's spacious with all the things you'd expect- stamps for sale, greeting cards, etc.
It's right next to the Union Station Metro.”

“The mail service is mostly ok, but if I get more than one piece of mail in my box it's all crammed in... like folded..bent... crammed in the mailbox. There's no excuse for that!”
“Had to mail a package and looked up post offices near me and was surprised to find out that there was one so close. The lady working there will is very helpful and I was able to get my package mailed off without a hitch. No crowds at all so you can get in and get out quickly. It is open Tues- Fri from 9 - 1 and you don't have to go on the naval post to get to the post office.”

“I like this post office. The lady who works there is very nice, I have never had any mail lost and there is seldom a long line. I also like the selection of greeting cards that they have for sale. I noticed several negative reviews and I felt that I had to add a positive one because my experience here has always been positive. I hope yours will be too. Thanks.”
“The location Google gives is not correct, the post office is on the -1 floor, down the other end of the station (West side of the building).
Other than that, it's great they open early and it wasn't busy. Got everything sorted with the self-service kiosk in no time”
“The address on Google maps is totally wrong, it’s actually building 29 which is right next to the ceremonial gate. They opened five minutes late but the clerk was very nice and helpful!”
“I had 14 boxes of books to ship by media mail because I’m moving (and that’s the cheapest way to move books), each box weighed between 30-40 pounds. Kelvin was the only member of staff working on Saturday morning and his initial reaction was they could not take all of them because it is such a small branch. But he worked with the Post Office truck driver to figure out a way to load them onto the truck directly. I was very grateful for Kelvin’s resourcefulness and kindness because moving is very stressful and I would have struggled to get them to a different post office on Saturday before they all closed.”

“The Tenley Town post office in DC is the absolute worst. Sitting in the lobby calling the phone for a mail pickup only because there is but one agent managing the customers with a line reaching the door. Called for over 33 minutes as I saw people in the back moving around at a snail’s pace as if no one could hear the phone, no one EVER answered. All too often a mail pickup can take 40 minutes to an hour. Perhaps the laziest, slowest, and totally void of any customer service etiquette. They need a complete overhaul from management down to the staff in the back.
Avoid this kind post office if you can.
The only good thing is they are open on Sundays.”
“Although I initially wasn’t pleased with the fact that we hadn’t received mail in over a month and we weren’t contacted as to why, when I went to the post office they were quick to coordinate with the mail man his delivery route so I could open the door and give a new key since the building key was lost. Nice lady working the front desk (unfortunately I didn’t get her name) was helpful as well as the mailman “Vic”. Friendly and fairly fast resolution to the issue. Thanks!”

“This post office is inside the USDA building, in the sub-basement of the South Building. This building is open to the public, but you'll need a valid photo ID and your bags will be passed through an xray machine. You'll also need to enter at one of the designated visitors entrances, such as the one closest to the Smithsonian metro station. Ask the security guards for directions to the post office once you are inside. Beyond the fact that it's hard to find, it's a post office. Friendly staff, and never a line.”

I meant to write a review in December when I saw Ms. Yvette and one colleague manage a long line of customers with good humor.
I've seen the staff of this post office help people many times.”

“Don’t let the horror stories fool you - despite the rating and warnings of long lines / rude service, I popped in and out in under five minutes! Mia provided excellent service and guidance to get my three packages sorted and on their way quickly. Perhaps it was just good luck catching them at the right time, but my experience was fast, friendly, and completely painless.”
