The Humane Society of North Central Florida (HSNCF) is a no-kill animal rescue shelter established in 2018 through the merging of several local organizations. As a limited intake, independent 501(c)(3) organization, it relies on community support and does not receive federal funding or affiliation with larger organizations like the Humane Society of the United States or ASPCA. The shelter works with municipal shelters across North Central Florida to transfer animals in need of homes. Many adopters speak highly of their experiences at HSNCF. Visitors have found the staff and volunteers to be helpful, professional, and caring. They describe the environment as honest and dedicated to rescue and adoption. Several mention successful adoptions of dogs, including seniors, and praise the staff’s genuine concern for animals’ health and well-being. The shelter is appreciated for its transparency and the quality of care provided, with some adopters feeling confident in the staff’s knowledge and compassion. Foster volunteers also share positive feedback, noting that they have never experienced rudeness from staff and appreciate that the shelter takes responsibility if health issues arise after adoption. The community is encouraged to visit, adopt, rescue, or donate, as HSNCF remains committed to helping animals find loving homes and providing them with compassionate care.
I’m very thankful to the Humane Society of North Central Florida, especially for Candice Hirt for her support in finding our home dog Robbie and to help us find a loving home for 3 kittens. God Bless you all for your hard work and humanely doing.

They never pick up their phones, when we tried calling to see if we could drop off a cat we found. When they didn’t pick up we went to see if they would take them we were told they weren’t an intake facility. Even though we know that our brother dropped off a litter of kittens.
