The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is a local, independent non-profit in Jacksonville, FL that has been serving the community since 1885. In 2005, JHS officially became a no-kill shelter, and in 2014, Jacksonville became the nation's largest no-kill city with the help of JHS. The organization opened a new Adoption, Education and Pet Help Center in 2017, after a fire in 2007 destroyed most of their property. Visitors and volunteers have praised the cleanliness and well-maintained facilities, as well as the friendly and knowledgeable staff who care deeply for the animals. The humane society is highly recommended for those looking to adopt or volunteer, as it provides a wonderful experience for both the animals and the community.
Absolutely amazing, found the best chitten there and I love him so so much (see his silly photos) his name is whisky megatron. He’s just a baby. They were so helpful with the information and over all just so very kind to us!!

This place is truly wonderful! We had been searching for a new family kitty for the past few months and decided to come to the Jax location. They were so kind and even helped with educating my 3yr old daughter. Safe to say we found the perfect fit and my daughter is over the moon for her! She named her shadow🖤
