“my church is putting in a brick prayer garden. We checked several companies and determined that BricksRus had the best quality brick to use on our project. Every question was answered quickly. They even called us to inform us of an upcoming 75% price increase of one of the brick sizes we needed and were able to complete that part of our order in time to save over $1,000. When we ordered our engraved bricks, we were sent a Proof sheet of ensure that all the bricks had the correct engraving. When the bricks arrived, 1 of them that was in the center of the pallet was broken. Upon contacting BricksRUs, they without question sent us a replacement brick. Their customer service has been very good. If anyone is considering an engraved brick project, choose BricksRUs. They will help you all along the project.”

“Absolutely loved this museum. The exhibits were beautifully curated, informative, and surprisingly immersive. You can tell a lot of care went into both the presentation and preservation of the pieces. I ended up spending way more time here than expected because every section had something interesting to discover. The staff were also friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely worth visiting if you appreciate history, art, or just a well-designed experience.”

“I had an outstanding experience with Noel Guillen. From the moment I arrived, Noel greeted me with incredible energy, kindness, and professionalism. I came in feeling nervous and uncertain about getting tested, but his welcoming attitude immediately put me at ease.

“I recently reached out to Pelican Harbor Seabird Station after discovering a poor baby seagull trapped in the sea by the storm wall. The little one was in distress, and I could not reach it due to the height of the wall. I spoke with Valerie, who was incredibly supportive and was doing everything in her power to send someone out to help.
After several hours, a wonderful volunteer went to the scene to assist, but unfortunately, it was too late to save the bird. Despite the outcome, I am grateful for the dedication and swift action from Valerie and the volunteer. Pelican Harbor Seabird Station is a remarkable wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center in Miami, Florida. They provide essential services like emergency intake, rehabilitation, and public education through tours and volunteer programs.
I encourage everyone to support this vital organization. They need more volunteers and any help to continue their important work for injured native seabirds and urban wildlife. Thank you, Valerie, and to the volunteer for your efforts!”

“There are no words for how grateful our family is to Whispering Manes. Our autistic child has been attending for 2 years now and the attention that Robin and her team have given and the compassion in how they handle all the traits presented by my child blows me away on a weekly basis. I have witnessed them work with RBTs, even Robin removing her own boots when the RBT didn’t come with proper shoes, so that the child may ride and not loose their lesson. I have seen her always have extra pairs of jeans or riding pants so when parents come unprepared they can still have the child ride. I also have seen her offer scholarships to schools to allow children who can’t afford it the opportunity to ride through a school program. This place has given my child a moment of joy on a weekly basis, without judgement or constant requests. It is a simple place where they can ride a horse and enjoy some peace a moment to be themselves in safe manner. As with any location handling large animals, there are rules in order to avoid injuries, and I appreciate their patience in teaching these to all kids in a loving manner. I am forever grateful for Robin and her team! They are a Godsent to Kendall and all of the special needs families it services!”

They organize FREE jam sessions and events every week. The facility is modern, clean, and uses state of the art equipment. The director Alexa is a warm and kind soul with a true passion for what she brings to our community. This place is such a gem!”

“The non profit Tropical Audubon Society (TAS) has its origins as the Coconut Grove Audubon Society (CGAS), founded April 16, 1915, as Dade County's first Audubon organization. CGAS members met in homes and worked to advocated for bird and wildlife protection, protection of birds hunted for their plumes with the hiring of game wardens, ornithological education for school children and the public, and they also collaborated in the movement to establish Everglades National Park. WWII led to the CGAS becoming inactive in 1942. Led by Charles Brookfield, then employed by National Audubon Society, a new chapter of the National Audubon Society was established in 1947. The Tropical Audubon Society (TAS) has been on the frontlines of conservation and environmental protection issues in South Florida. The mission of the Tropical Audubon Society is to "conserve and restore South Florida ecosystems, focusing on birds, wildlife, and their habitats. The Tropical Audubon Society has been headquartered at the 1932 Doc Thomas House since 1976. It has been designated a Miami-Dade County Historic Site, a Florida Heritage Site, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Arden Hayes Thomas, Jr. was a pharmacist from Indiana who moved to South Miami in 1925, and opened the O. K. Drug Store just months before the Great Miami Hurricane of 1926. His business grew to managing two stores on Sunset Drive and Thomas invested in a 2.5 acres of property on the south side of Sunset Drive in the subdivision of High Pines. He commissioned Robert Fitch Smith, one of the first six graduates of the University of Miami architecture program, to create a home that would look like part of the piney landscape. He created a rustic house in the Florida wood-frame vernacular style of architecture that exemplified the influence of the Arts and Crafts movement. Created out of cypress, oak, pine mahogany, and local limestone, the home has detailed woodwork, a limestone fireplace, and built in features. Fitch went on to a storied career as an architect, taught at the University of Miami, and served on the first City of Miami Planning Board. In the 1950's Doc Thomas retired and traveled the world. A life long conservationist and bachelor, Doc Thomas decided to leave his home and the surrounding 2 acres of woodlands to the TAS. He deeded the property to them in December of 1974 and he passed away exactly one year later. Since 1976 the house has functioned as the home of Tropical Audubon Society while the surrounding acreage now serves as the Steinberg Nature Center.I discovered this delightful nature oasis and historic home in the middle of South Miami while eating lunch in the area. The gate is open so you can walk around what feels like a a secret garden. On Saturday, January 7, 1-2pm or 3-4pm the Tropical Audubon Society will host a public tour of the historic Doc Thomas House headquarters which has recently undergone structural repair and restoration. The tour is free although donations are welcome and lasts for 1 hour guided by a Tropical Audubon docent. The tour focuses on Arden Hayes "Doc" Thomas and Robert Fitch Smith and explores the near-native Steinberg Nature Center campus. The Steinberg Nature Center contains Pine Rockland, a globally endangered ecosystem. It is only located in south Miami, the Keys, and parts of the Bahamas. Pine Rockland once covered 180,000 acres or 12 percent of Miami but by the time Miami turned 100 in 1996, less than 2 percent remained. Today only fragments of the Pineland remain. It is a critical refuge for endangered plants and animals, some not found anywhere else in the world. Come out and learn about this important ecosystem and the pioneers who lived here and built South Miami.”

“This overall is a good place for the community. They feed there homeless as well as kids in the neighborhood. Some of the staff there is lacking enthusiasm and though they claim to be a Christian foundation, some of their workers do not reflect those values with their energy and it takes away from the great things that they accomplish there when helping others.”

“I am an artist who participated this last Basel weekend 2022 in the Miami Dade county Artz305 show at the Homestead Speedway. I give an A++ for organization, layout and content of the event. Curator Bart Mervil and Artist coordinator Melissa Martinez did a great job and valued the artists and their work. Commissioner Kionne McGhee needs to be commended for choosing Homestead for the event. Homestead doesn't have a single art gallery and it gave many Homestead artists a platform to share their art. I would suggest a Bus to transport people to the event from areas of FL. City and Homestead.. I would also suggest more targeted Advertising to make the many new residents aware of the event. Overall A++.”

“I would like to thank “Shawn” for helping me to find this center & her “Excellent “ & outstanding customer service skills . “Shawn” helps serve the food there to the elderly community she is such a caring person with a meek spirit she & goes out of her way to help others she has a very humble character which makes her the beautiful person she is. I went there with my 3 grand children everyone was so kind to them from entering the premises to leaving. The lady who takes your number & served the meals was so sweet. However, unfortunately & sorry I can’t remember her name or the 2 wonderful & kind ladies names that were at the front desk on Tuesday 1/3/23. These 2 ladies they went out of their way to help me as well. Those 2 ladies should be recognized highly for their outstanding customer service & going the extra mile they were wonderful. I also want to recognize the young lady that signed me up for the food program “Keyla” such a beautiful personality the meal coordinator excellent customer service also. In addition the young lady “Acia” she was not in at my initial visit she was the one needed to meet for help. However, I met her yesterday she was very helpful & kind as well . All I know is that in this life we may never know when we may find ourselves needing help no matter how minimal. But I thank “God” he placed all these special individuals in my path. I feel It was just meeting them & their reception that made the difference. To all that may read this review their are programs out their to help don’t hesitate to reach out especially to this office they will welcome you without judgement.”

“United Way Miami has been one of my favorite places to volunteer over the years — not just because of what they do, but because of how they do it.

Every event I’ve participated in has been intentional, well-organized, and led by passionate individuals who truly believe in the mission. Whether supporting children, families, or communities in crisis, this chapter reflects what it means to show up with purpose.

It’s more than volunteering — it’s a movement I’m proud to be part of.
