“I’ve been using Hodgson’s for years to get my meds and I cannot recommend them enough. I’m a college student without health insurance and they have done so much to help me afford my meds. I got prescribed a med that was $150 and they took it down to $58 for me. I didn’t even have to ask, they just did it. “My wife and I have this running joke that we can never get to the front of a Publix line because the waits are all atrociously wrong. This is the only Publix in town that we’ve been able to wait the entirety of the line because it runs at a normal pace. The staff serving you here are also the friendliest in town. If you live in Athens and shop at Publix, it’s worth it to come to the East Side. You’ll probably be waiting at the other ones anyway, so it’ll be worth the extra drive.”

“I got up early and came to Kroger to find sweet corn for Thanksgiving dinner. My daughter loves spicy corn although it's kinda too spicy for me usually. My regular store didn't have any corn at all and I was pretty disappointed because that's one of our favorite things for Thanksgiving dinner.Anyway, I came to Kroger early and was delighted to find they had plenty of sweet corn.That was one of the last things I needed for dinner tomorrow. I also had to get some potatoes for mashed potatoes because the ones I have at home are full of eyes and I don't want to eat that.I like Kroger, in fact, I prefer it over the other store. But it is much farther away. By other store it's just about walking distance.A Kroger fuel points are a great benefit, but I never get enough points to make it worth my while. I put my sister's number in because she does collect the points and she really knows how to work it. She gets all kinds of extra points for shopping on Friday, doing a surveys on the receipt, and her neat trick is buying a gift card and using it to buy the groceries. She gets a lot of extra points for that. She has enough points this month to get her gas fill up for, get this, 11¢ per gallon. I called BS on that at first but she showed me the receipt.”

“These pharmacists and staff are great. I have only been using them for a few months for a specific medication. But they go above and beyond. There was an error somewhere and the delivery never made it to me. Technically it was too early to refill, but he said he was going to send me part of the prescription and finish filling it when it was due, he called me back and confirmed my address and told me he was going to go on and fill the entire prescription. Great group of people five stars all the way. 😀”

“**Updating my review: I returned the next morning, and the pharmacist personally assisted me and took the time to apologize, which I truly appreciated. The initial experience was frustrating, especially given the time-sensitive nature of IVF medications, but I'm grateful for the follow-up and professionalism shown afterward.** My experience today was very disappointing. I didn’t receive notification that my medications were ready until after 4 PM, at which point I was already in Gwinnett visiting a friend. I called the pharmacy at 6:21 PM to let them know I was on my way to pick up time-sensitive IVF medication that had already been paid for. I was told to come and that staff would still be there. I made every effort to arrive on time, driving directly down 316, and arrived right at 7:00 PM. Staff saw me approaching, but the pharmacy was locked at 7:01 PM without assisting me. When I explained I had called ahead, I was told the lockup process had already started. Given the nature of fertility medications and the prior communication, this felt dismissive and lacking in compassion. IVF is an emotionally demanding process, and a small moment of consideration would have made a significant difference. I want to note that this is the first negative experience I’ve had, my medications are usually handled and delivered smoothly. However, this interaction was disheartening.”
“The staff are very helpful. Their automated or online refill requests are easy. Hate that covid ruined everything. The hours aren't as late as they were before covid. They also close for lunch, 1-1:30. Everyone deserves a lunch break. I just worry about finding a 24hr pharmacy in an emergency. How many 24hr stores continued being 24hr stores after covid? I love this pharmacy, they do everything to lower your out of pocket expenses. They beat a lot of competitors out of out-of-pocket costs.”
“I’ve chose Walmart Marketplace for all my prescription needs because it’s the absolute best pharmacy I’ve come across in Athens. The personal assistance I get from this location is absolutely superb. I recently received a statin medicine from my doctor that had me very frightened out of my mind. The pharmacist, Laura, took a great deal of time to help me understand the drug and how it works in the body. I had many concerns about statins (as do others that I know). I learned, in great detail, how statins work in the body, and many things I thought in my uneducated mind were completely wrong. Laura cared enough to teach me on my level, and my fears were alleviated by her kind and informative approach. I can tell, Laura really cares about me. Time after time, I scare myself over different medications, snd shots or vaccinations I have to get, but Laura never fails to take the time to help me get over my fears. Anyone can see the love in her sweet eyes for her profession and the folks she serves, and I am blessed to be fortunate enough to have Laura’s unsurpassed council on the medications I don’t understand - explained on a level I can comprehend. Everyone on staff at Walmart Marketplace Pharmacy is just as kind and caring about me, Amy, Phil, Fredricka, and the sweet gal that always gives my doggie a treat at the pickup window! It’s the best pharmacy I’ve ever been too, and that’s a fact!”

I have seen them personally make extra phone calls and research the internet to solve your problems and satisfy your prescription needs. They have found me the lowest price when necessary and resolved conflicting issues with my prescriptions. They act like you are a beloved neighbor! Great pharmacy!!”

“This store has a good selection and good quality products. Like other Publix stores, they have some great BOGOs, have wide aisles so it's easy to go around some customers if they aren't considerate about partially blocking aisles, and they honor coupons and rain checks, at least when I've been. I love their produce and deli departments! If you look at the weekly ad only buy certain products there or only buy those particular products when on sale, it's not as expensive as some people claim. They occasionally have great sales on cereal, crackers, ice cream, certain produce, for example and you can just make sure to buy it when it's a BOGO or part of a different kind of sale. Customers can always get products that are a bit expensive there at other places such as Aldi, Kroger, etc. or simply wait for them to go on sale, when applicable. My only criticism would be that the employees at this particular store aren't quite as friendly as Publix employees at some other locations. Maybe they're just really tired since some of them are also students at UGA or UNG. On the bright side, they're not pushy about carrying out small orders for younger people like me but on average, they aren't quite as nice. Still better than at most of the other grocery stores in the area though and the store is really good overall.”
Loblaw Companies Limited is putting serious money into its retail network this year. Canada's largest food and pharmacy retailer announced it will spend $2.4 billion in 2026 to open new stores, renovate existing locations and strengthen its supply chain. The company plans to open 70 new stores in 2026. That includes 34 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix pharmacies and care clinics, along with 31 hard-discount No Frills and Maxi grocery stores. On top of the new openings, Loblaw will renovate another 191 stores and continue construction on a roughly 1.2 million-square-foot automated distribution center in Caledon, Ontario.
