Bangkok Haus Restaurant Helen
707 Edelweiss Strasse, HelenWhile Spice 55 is a staple on the main road, not far away is another great Asian restaurant with plant-based options. Both are very good but unique in certain ways. Where as Spice 55 is bright and more traditionally fancy, Bangkok Haus is more private and mood-lit - offering a cozier feel that is a different but equally fun choice for date night. The food at Bangkok Haus is great and they have a ton of stir fry and noodle dishes to add tofu to. I typically go with the Pad Basil with Fried Tofu. Although the restaurant can be harder to find, there is a ton of parking and it's one of the best restaurants in the area. I'd recommend Bangkok Haus for anyone who wants a fun, romantic dinner in North Georgia that is a bit off the main touristy section.

Spice 55 Thai and Sushi restaurant
705 Brucken Strasse, HelenWhen my wife and I go on a date night in North Georgia, the most common destination is a quick trip to Helen for Spice 55. Spice 55 is famous in the area for great thai food an a more upscale vibe than most places in the area. As a vegan, there are a ton of options but my favorite is the Pad Pak - sauteed broccoli, carrots, mushroom, zucchini, squash, onion, bell pepper, green beans and scallions. I get mine spicy with fried tofu. Outside of that, there are many noodle and stir fry dishes as well as appetizers that are great for a plant-based diet and can incorporate tofu. Sometimes though, Spice 55 can get really popular and packed - leading to delays in service.

Others in our group ordered the big platter and were a little disappointed, but the staff did mention they’re in the middle of remodeling, so I’m chalking it up to that. We loved the fried cheese skewer appetizer and the chicken with spinach and mushroom cream sauce over homemade pasta was really yummy! Honorable mention to the fried cheddar and ham with fried potatoes… Breakfast was also very good the next day!

Family friendly atmosphere.
The restaurant itself did not open until 12pm for lunch, and didn't even start serving food until 12:30pm, which was inconvenient for everyone waiting in line so long. Otherwise, good place to stop and relax for a bit.

8016 S Main St #3620, HelenI would eat here again but might get something different. Decent hot dogs - personally the buns were thicker than I prefer. The “cheese” in the dog-dog was what seemed like cheese whiz in consistency and taste.

I do hate that you have to pay $10 to park in town regardless if you are there 30 min. or all day long.

11 River St, HelenWe went to grab a beer and an appetizer on Christmas Eve. The atmosphere is nice and a great place to bring your dog. The service was friendly but very slow. It could be because of the holidays. The pretzel bites with cheese were great. I'd definitely give it another chance.
