They let us sample as many flavors as we wanted and they were all delicious, honestly kind of hard to decide. I got the dairy free lemon poppyseed, which I didn’t even know existed! It was absolutely amazing! The scoops are huge, totally worth the price. Highly recommended this place!

Brickhouse Burgers, Pizza & Pasta
8759 N Main St, HelenFinding veganized versions of anything but a burger can be tough in North Georgia. Although nearby Nacoochee Tavern makes great cheeseless pizza and calzones, Brickhouse gets major points for carrying vegan cheese, offering personal pies, and having Stromboli and calzone options as well as vegan burgers and salads. The pizza is solid. I had a vegan cheese pizza with broccoli and mushrooms, but the accessibility and tons of options make it a premier choice for lunch or dinner in Helen, GA for all diners. Glad I got a chance to try them this summer. Their merch is also great and they have an adorable shop in the same building. Updated from previous review on 2026-07-17

7275 S Main St, HelenWe tried the tree hugger veg pizza which had eggplant as a topping. It was my first time trying a pizza with eggplant. I was so surprised how good it was! We also got the garlic bread with marinated peppers and marinara sauce. It was amazing! Very fresh and yummy!!

We started with a pretzel and bowl of goulash both of which we would recommend. For the entree I got the meal with three wurst sausages, sauerkraut and potato salad. My meal was very good. The sausages are huge. My wife got the sauerbraten. It was neither sour nor tender. It was more like dry pot roast. The dumpling was good but unremarkable.
There was a decent selection of German beers that are served in 1 liter mugs. I would request a cold mug. The handles to my mugs were warm. My beers were not as cold as they could have been.
The atmosphere was average. Nothing noteworthy. Outdoor bier garten or indoor dining.
One complaint I do have is the air conditioning ducts dripping condensation onto our table. I'm sure it was splashing onto our plates off the table as a drop or two landed on my hand. Unpleasant.
We recommend a visit though. Just avoid the sauerbraten and sitting under the a/c ducts.

Hofer's Bakery and Cafe
8758 North Main Street, HelenThis was my first time at Hofer's and it was awesome. The food is authentic German food and it was delicious. You get plenty to eat and the beer was nice and cold. You can't go wrong at Hofer's. I will definitely be back next time I am in the area. The photo is from my lunch.

Jokes, aura, and she filled beers to the brim, allowing my wife and I (who are from out or town) to try local brewski's, she gave phenomenal advice on in town bites, beers, and secrets. IF YOU COME TO HELEN AND YOU DO NOT SEE KATIE AT TOO TIRED TAVERN YOU ARE MISTAKEN.
don't be mistaken, don't read this review for nothing, have faith in your fellow neighbor, go see katie....or you are a weenie....and you will never know the hidden secrets.

Burgers were tasty , fried cheese very good and so was the fresh toast . Salad was a bit blend . We went for October fest , so the place was very busy and packed . But the staff made sure we got a table fast and were very friendly .

8660 N Main St, HelenAwesome spot right in the middle of Helen,GA.We were there on the first day of Oktoberfest at 9am to avoid the crowds and had a fantastic time! We don't usually start drinking that early, but exceptions were made! The one man band was great and the beer selection was even better. Most of the shops don't open until 10 so there was plenty of time to wander the small town without the throngs of people,which was nice.

Chattahoochee Dog Haus
8016 S Main St #3620, HelenWe stopped by Chattahoochee Dog Haus while visiting Helen and really enjoyed the food. I had the bratwurst hot dog with sauerkraut, and it was delicious. The large order of French fries was fresh, hot, and a generous portion—definitely enough to share. The food was the highlight of our visit.
The service, however, wasn’t very welcoming. The employee seemed like she didn’t really want to be there and wasn’t especially friendly or helpful to us or the other customers while we were waiting.
One thing to know before you go is that this is outdoor seating only. There are a few wooden picnic tables on a small deck, so seating is limited. They also only offer canned drinks, so don’t expect fountain drinks with ice.
Our total was around $30 for one bratwurst hot dog, one large order of fries, and two canned drinks. While I wish the customer service had been better, the food was good enough that I would come back just for the hot dog and those excellent fries.
