“I cannot speak highly enough about the staff at this hotel. Throughout an unexpected tsunami evacuation we were guided by calm supportive staff. I want to especially recognize a management person named Barbara. She was amazing. The hotel is a perfect vacation spot!”

“I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay in Kapaʻa, Kauaʻi, Hawaii from Monday, 01/19/26 until Sunday, 01/25/26.

For my hotel stay, I reserved a cottage with a King bed, and the entire space (459 sq. ft.) was fabulous. The cottage featured an outdoor lanai with patio furniture, a mini-fridge, microwave, dining table and chairs, air conditioning, a Keurig coffee system, 50-inch LCD TVs, and more. An added bonus was the convenience of parking; my vehicle was parked directly in front of the cottage.

Several things stood out to me during my stay. I enjoyed waking up to rooster sounds in the morning, which added to the island experience. The property provided a tranquil environment, and my cottage was conveniently located near the Kamalani Playground and the beachfront access to Lydgate Park. One of the staff members, Adela, was especially kind and pleasant. She consistently offered daily housekeeping services and kept the room spotless.

The hotel charged a $25 daily resort fee, which included parking and on-site activities such as hula lessons, hula shows, ukulele history and lessons, koi feeding, lei making, and more.

Unfortunately, I did experience one disappointing incident. I wanted to attend the Hula Lesson scheduled for Wednesdays at 9 AM, as listed in the brochure. The day prior, I confirmed the details with the front desk because guests were instructed to sign up. I was told that no sign-up was necessary and that I could simply show up. I was also informed that if it rained, the lesson normally held on Mamahune's lawn would be moved indoors to the ballroom. Since it was raining, I went to the ballroom and arrived promptly at 9 AM. The instructor informed me that the class had started at 8:30 AM and was already finished. She declined to provide the lesson despite the 9 AM time listed in the brochure. It was extremely disappointing to wake up early expecting a scheduled activity and not be able to participate due to conflicting information.

Afterward, I immediately reported the issue to the front desk and requested a follow-up from a manager, Amy. Unfortunately, I did not receive a callback, and I was repeatedly told she was in meetings.

On the day of checkout, I shared my full experience with Cina (Front Desk Associate) and Jenny (Director of Operations). They sincerely apologized and adjusted my bill for the inconvenience. I truly appreciated their professionalism and willingness to make things right.

I was initially prepared to give 3 stars. However, Cina and Jenny went above and beyond to address my concerns, which raised my rating to 4 stars. Overall, the property is beautiful and offers everything on site such as restaurants, the Mamahune's tiki bar, activities, and easy access to Lydgate Beach. Aside from that one incident, which was ultimately handled appropriately, I would recommend staying here.”

“I was debating whether to give it a 4 or 5. The room wasn't where I thought it would be, and probably had the worst spot. So, I tried to be fair and didn't let that affect my review.
The whole place was super clean. But the best things were the awesome pool, which was warm since it wasn't too deep, but still huge and kept a good temp. And the other great thing was the soft, sandy beach right there. That was a big win for us.

The food was a bit of a problem, though. The hotel restaurants and the ones nearby weren't great (mostly) and were pricey for what you got.

Parking wasn't really managed, and lots of cars from outside the resort parked in the best spots near the rooms. That was annoying and made me wonder if the $30 parking fee was worth it.

But the location is perfect. It's in a nice area near a beautiful golf course, and you can easily get to both the north and south parts of the island.”

“Awesome place to stay for a night or two if you miss your flight or need a place to stay in an emergency situation. Clean room and the service was great! Also a great piece of Hawaii history.”

“Excellent location but be aware of the extra fees that are applied nightly if you are booking as an exchange unit with interval international. The property lacks air conditioning, elevators, and no restaurant on site but food trucks visit on some days.”

“I like this hotel the gym center is the best place to go to but the pool was pretty small and the thing that disappointed me was no beach access.the rooms are really good”

“Enjoyed our stay here and they even were able to accommodate changing our room to a space with a king bed instead of two queens for the second bedroom. The pools and amenities are great! Princeville is such a great location and the hotel isn't far from shopping. They also have food trucks on location every day.”

“Exactly what you need and nothing else. Not a resort. Drive to the ocean and that can be your pool. This was a first time in a long time that I actually had a physical metal key. It added to the overall experience. Great coffee shops within walking distance and plenty of artwork to look at.”

“We are owners within this Marriott timeshare network. We stopped here to visit this location since we had never been here.Very beautiful grounds and villas built on a higher lookout area in Kauai, Princeville area. They had several pools, a jacuzzi, gardens, golf course, restaurants, and shops onsite. There was plenty of parking, and it's tucked in off the main road, so it was a very quiet location. Will consider staying here in the future.”

“Motel Lani was incredible. Best value in Kauai. Just a block from a great brewery and a fun Second Saturday event that we stumbled into. Call and book early as this place has regulars. We were able to pay with credit card in Jan 2025.”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Kauai Experience – Thanks to Janice and the Marriott Team!

From the moment we arrived at the Marriott Vacation Club in Kauai, we knew we were in for something special—but what truly set the tone for our stay was Janice, our incredible check-in agent. She greeted us with the warmest aloha spirit, made us feel immediately at home, and ensured every detail of our reservation was flawless. Her knowledge of the island, genuine hospitality, and thoughtful recommendations truly elevated our experience.

The property itself is breathtaking—lush, tropical landscapes, crystal-clear pools, and postcard-worthy views of the ocean. The rooms are spacious, immaculate, and perfectly equipped for a relaxing getaway. The amenities were top-tier, from the fitness center and spa to the beachside lounging areas and on-site dining.

But it was Janice’s kindness, patience, and professionalism that made all the difference. She didn’t just check us in—she welcomed us like family. Because of her, we started our vacation feeling completely cared for and genuinely excited for what was to come.

If you’re considering a stay at the Marriott Vacation Club in Kauai—do it. And if you’re lucky enough to be welcomed by Janice, you’re in for the best start to a magical island vacation.

Mahalo, Janice! You made this trip unforgettable.”

“Rooms: Rooms were spacious, beds were comfortable. Plenty of storage.

Nearby activities: Lots to do , beach, pools, hot tub, kayak, hiking trails, sight seeing,

Safety: Always felt safe.

Food and drinks: Plenty of places to eat in a large variety.

Noteworthy details: Weather was warm and humid, the rooms had individual air conditioners but we're not quite adequate for the room size. However we may have felt that because we are from a northern climate.”

“Wonderful resort. We really haven’t left much because we love the relaxing atmosphere here. There are plenty of activities to enjoy. The views are spectacular, both from the pools to the rooms. Have enjoyed grabbing Starbucks while sitting at the main pool. All of the hotel employees have been welcoming and friendly. Our only complaint is there is no room service. You can place take out orders from the main restaurant but must pick up.”

“Open 6am-9pm, which is shockingly superior to the business hours of basically every business on the island (subway in Kilauea for example, open 930am-11am yesterday, a whole 90 minutes). Top notch service in Princeville Market and really well made Starbucks drinks. It was such a pleasant surprise to find this little market. Employees are super friendly too, highly recommended for a late night coffee or snack!”

“Very nice except for the inconvenience of getting around the construction.
And then having to pay hefty resort fees even though the pool was too cold to use and a hot tub not in service.”
