“I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay in Kapaʻa, Kauaʻi, Hawaii from Monday, 01/19/26 until Sunday, 01/25/26.
For my hotel stay, I reserved a cottage with a King bed, and the entire space (459 sq. ft.) was fabulous. The cottage featured an outdoor lanai with patio furniture, a mini-fridge, microwave, dining table and chairs, air conditioning, a Keurig coffee system, 50-inch LCD TVs, and more. An added bonus was the convenience of parking; my vehicle was parked directly in front of the cottage.
Several things stood out to me during my stay. I enjoyed waking up to rooster sounds in the morning, which added to the island experience. The property provided a tranquil environment, and my cottage was conveniently located near the Kamalani Playground and the beachfront access to Lydgate Park. One of the staff members, Adela, was especially kind and pleasant. She consistently offered daily housekeeping services and kept the room spotless.
The hotel charged a $25 daily resort fee, which included parking and on-site activities such as hula lessons, hula shows, ukulele history and lessons, koi feeding, lei making, and more.
Unfortunately, I did experience one disappointing incident. I wanted to attend the Hula Lesson scheduled for Wednesdays at 9 AM, as listed in the brochure. The day prior, I confirmed the details with the front desk because guests were instructed to sign up. I was told that no sign-up was necessary and that I could simply show up. I was also informed that if it rained, the lesson normally held on Mamahune's lawn would be moved indoors to the ballroom. Since it was raining, I went to the ballroom and arrived promptly at 9 AM. The instructor informed me that the class had started at 8:30 AM and was already finished. She declined to provide the lesson despite the 9 AM time listed in the brochure. It was extremely disappointing to wake up early expecting a scheduled activity and not be able to participate due to conflicting information.
Afterward, I immediately reported the issue to the front desk and requested a follow-up from a manager, Amy. Unfortunately, I did not receive a callback, and I was repeatedly told she was in meetings.
On the day of checkout, I shared my full experience with Cina (Front Desk Associate) and Jenny (Director of Operations). They sincerely apologized and adjusted my bill for the inconvenience. I truly appreciated their professionalism and willingness to make things right.
I was initially prepared to give 3 stars. However, Cina and Jenny went above and beyond to address my concerns, which raised my rating to 4 stars. Overall, the property is beautiful and offers everything on site such as restaurants, the Mamahune's tiki bar, activities, and easy access to Lydgate Beach. Aside from that one incident, which was ultimately handled appropriately, I would recommend staying here.”
“I stayed at the cliffs two years ago. The one-bedroom condo was amazing. To start with, it was spacious. The room itself featured a spacious king-size bed and a private bathroom, all complemented by a large television. The living room provided a comfortable seating area with a big couch. In addition, the room included both a washer and a dryer, which was a very handy feature. The full kitchen was a definite plus. The patio area offered a table with seating for four.”

“Our family stayed at the Kauai Inn for part of our trip and could not have been more satisfied with the level of service. We stayed at the Hyatt and in Princeville, but The Kauai Inn had a level of charm that only a place like this can bring to the Kaua’i experience. Every staff member was exceptionally kind, especially Brian and Jen. The owner, Phil, also went out of his way to make sure our family had a great experience. If we are lucky enough to come back to Kauai, we would definitely consider spending more time here. Also, thank you Phil for going out of your way to make sure we got to the airport on time!!!”
“We enjoyed the natural beauty of the resort. The 2bed/2bath arrangement was great for our three person family, so we invited our daughter’s friend to join us.
This is a relaxing resort that allows you to create your own experience, and is situated off the main road .7 miles.
Come here to enjoy views, nature, and tranquility.
Know before you go:
1. You need to rent a vehicle as walking around the property is amazing, but there is no transportation outside of the resort
2. This is not party central. No restaurants and bars on property. If your coming for a few days with family, I’d definitely recommend buying some groceries, so that you have quick snacks and meal options w/o having to leave resort each time
3. The villa layout is amazing for families of 3 or more.
4. The derelict buildings next to building one (where we are staying) are an eye sore. Apparently they belong to the golf club, but they look awful.
5. There is a private beach, however you have to walk around the derelict buildings down to the golf path and follow signs for shore access…
THAT BEACH ACCESS MADE THIS RESORT 5 star alone!”
“The grandeur of the property is unrivaled on the islands. The staffing is spotty from the front desk to the house keeping to the wait staff. Overall a magnificent Kama aina vacation but … little to no discount as a local. Kukui’s food was ‘ono but the bartenders hit and miss. The pool was unrivaled. Kalapaki beach readily accessible if you can snag a dilapidated beach chair.”
“Enjoyed our stay here and they even were able to accommodate changing our room to a space with a king bed instead of two queens for the second bedroom. The pools and amenities are great! Princeville is such a great location and the hotel isn't far from shopping. They also have food trucks on location every day.”

“What a lovely, peaceful property!--perched above the North Shore of Kaua'i, the Westin Princeville Resort is remote and yet close to restaurants, food stores and other niceties. This is one of the 8 properties in the Westin Flex group, and while it is obviously older than the other resorts, it has still held up very well--it has almost all the amenities that you get at the other resorts. I'll definitely be back!”

“Only stayed here for a night but it was really nice and quiet, even with the chickens and roosters outside. The AC will block that noise out, the GM and front desk are super sweet. There is also a mini museum of the history of the island of kauai, which was really informal. Ronald the GM is knowledgeable of his history of the island/s and pointed us to the right direction for any recommendations.”
“Rooms need updating, but they're OK. Biggest problem (service) is that food and activities run by Sonesta hotel, so no room charges, very inconvenient. Why doesn't MVC work out something with Sonesta?!”
“The lady that made my coffee was very friendly and the yogurt parfet is the best parfet I've ever had. Wish I knew this place the day we got here. Its a hidden gem. I'm going back to try thr over night oats.”
“Rooms: Rooms were spacious, beds were comfortable. Plenty of storage.
Nearby activities: Lots to do , beach, pools, hot tub, kayak, hiking trails, sight seeing,
Safety: Always felt safe.
Food and drinks: Plenty of places to eat in a large variety.
Noteworthy details: Weather was warm and humid, the rooms had individual air conditioners but we're not quite adequate for the room size. However we may have felt that because we are from a northern climate.”

“Very nice except for the inconvenience of getting around the construction.
And then having to pay hefty resort fees even though the pool was too cold to use and a hot tub not in service.”
“We stayed for one night but absolutely loved this hotel. The room was very comfortable. We loved the breakfast buffet in the morning and enjoyed the pool area the next day.”
