“Today I opened an account at Great Lakes Credit Union and purchased their 7-month promo CD that has a current APY of 3.85%, the best deal in town. I had an excellent experience with the branch manager, Lissette, who greeted me when I arrived and took care of me in an expeditious and professional manner. They currently have a great rate on a promo checking account for minor accounts (parents signature required) that only requires a $1 deposit and the child is eligible to participate in a raffle where they could win $100. “Maroon financial has always been helpful but recently they really went above and beyond. I was traveling outside the country and used my debit at a bank ATM. Prior to leaving I gave the credit union the dates. Unfortunately my card was compromised & I didn’t not receive the funds. After contacting Maroon and talking with Rebecca, who not only straightened out the situation but helped calm me down and stayed on the line while I attempted a withdrawal ATM at a different location. I cannot thank her enough! Afterwards I was able to relax and enjoy the rest of my vacation.”

“This is a great bank. I have been banking with them for 35 years, several checking accounts, savings, mortgage and other loans. Because it is small you can talk to the president if you need to. They will go out of their way to help. They have a service I really like and have not found at other banks, they text me and email me every time my credit card is used. More than once it alerted me to a fraudulent charge and because I got the info so fast I was able to stop it before it became a problem. Also if someone writes me a check and it bounces or if I have an overdraft they call or email so i don't find out 10 days later. UPDATE, I wrote this when this was South Central Bank. The things I wrote are no longer true since Verve bough them. There are not owned in Chicago and don't seem to care about it. Their office is like a ghost town and they don't return calls. The staff I dealt with were very inexperienced and could not solve simple problem. They got rid of their good people. I think it is unethical to say this review was written for Verve when it was about their predecessor, South Central Bank.”
