“We used Roy to move our furniture and household items from Highland Park, IL to Charleston, SC based on the recommendation of our daughter. She previously used Roy to move from Chicago to NYC. Roy offers the ability to have your items picked up and directly transported to your location without aggregating it with other shipments, thereby ensuring a specific delivery date. Our experience could not have been better. Roy met all of his commitments and it was not even necessary for us to be at the destination location as we provided him a key to our unit. It was a real pleasure working with Roy and would highly recommend him to others as he is a cut above other movers.”

“We used New City to move our belongings out of U-Haul Boxes we had shipped to a U-Haul facility (from across the country), and into our condo in downtown Chicago.
Overall experience was great, the team of three showed up on time, and were super careful with handling our stuff and moving everything. We also called on relatively short notice (2ish days in advance) and New City was able to accommodate the timeline.

“Frank and Kevin picked up some furniture I needed disposed of and they were great to work with; I spoke mainly with Frank who has an enthusiastic attitude worth gold. He was receptive to my instructions over the phone as he was driving the truck, and arrived to the appointment on time. They moved out the items quickly and the entire process took about 10 minutes. Pam was also great on the phone helping me coordinate the pickup within an hour of me placing the request, so I recommend Hodge Podge for anyone who needs to have furniture moved out as I had a great experience.”

“For all of my moves across Chicago I have used this company. Actually found them through yelp and they were very efficient and responsive to my needs. The movers were on time and even when my building has certain issues they work with me very well which was great. None of my property was damaged throughout my move, so I definitely will use them again if I move within the city once more, I also appreciate the transparent prices that they list on their website inventory form. Given the furniture that I had for my one bedroom moving into a studio and then back into a another one bedroom. I would say that this was definitely cost-effective for me to get professionals to do it.”

“Fabulous experience working with Mauro and his team. They were right on time and kept a positive attitude through what was a grueling day with many stops. Started at 8am and didnt stop moving heavy furniture until 6pm yet maintained a smile the whole time. They were careful not to damage anything and even took apart and reconstructed a treadmill to make it fit in a tight stairwell. They were also about $900 cheaper than the next lowest quote I received. Absolutely highly recommend”

“These guys were really great about protecting our furniture. They wrapped everything well (look at those chairs - thoroughly wrapped!) and were careful moving stuff in and out. Everyone was also polite throughout. The guy sitting down deserves an extra shoutout because he was especially personable. The only negative was that our quoted price DOUBLED. We did a video walkthrough of our apartment for the quote, so I don't really understand how the person quoting it screwed up so bad, but they should reevaluate their quote metrics. We went from thinking we'd be paying $1500 to paying $3000, plus tip. (By the way, we got charged an extra "heavy item" fee for our dining room table at $35/pp [again, this table was shown to the person quoting us during the video walkthrough]. When we got the table, my husband and a friend moved it without issue, so I was very surprised to learn it took FOUR professional movers this time and cost us almost $150 for the privilege.) I would definitely use this company again because they did a good job overall, but I would expect to pay far more than the original quote.”
