“Rented a Ford Transit 250 high roof cargo van to move stuff from Brooklyn to Chicago and returned it here because it was the cheapest drop off location (would have paid >$100 extra to return in Chicago; grateful for the Penske phone rep who helped me find the best deal). The Penske counter is the same as the Home Depot tool rental counter, and the guy who helped me out was very kind, friendly, and had some fun dad-like jokes prepared as we inspected the rental together. (He also writes noir fiction and I'm bummed I've forgotten the name of his book; would like to check it out). I filled the tank at the grocery just north of the Home Depot, which seemed to be the cheapest in the vicinity -- but wish I'd also filled up right before entering Illinois, as the tank is huge and Indiana was way cheaper. Anyway, wouldn't hesitate to rent from or return to this spot! Glad I went with Penske; Budget was cheaper but they don't guarantee the vehicle you select will be there, and I had a great experience at both pick up and drop off as well as a sparkling clean, brand new van (I think they're just starting their cargo van program, so they're all fairly new).”
“Sochi was incredibly helpful and patient when we requested to change units because the first one was too small. She walked us to each unit and showed us how to use the lock. The facility is very clean and secure- the prices may be slightly higher here but you are paying for the accessibility, climate control, and drive in options. Highly recommend!”

“Above and beyond staff, Shantill was the best, super professional and very helpful. My moving experience was very hectic, but Extra Space Storage made storing my items easy. My ID didn’t validate correctly and I needed to come in before 6pm when the office closes to correct it, but because I was spending so much time packing I almost forgot. When i got there it was 6:02pm so I was freaking out a bit. I had a moving truck full of items and was potentially going to have no where to put it. However the staff was super nice and let me in to quickly verify my ID. I thought since they were closing I’d have to figure everything out myself, but Shantill was a god send and walked me through the WHOLE process! She instructed me on how to enter the door codes, showed me the entrance area for unloading my items + reminded me of the hours, and even walked me to my storage unit, showed me how to use the lock they provided, and provided directions for where all the dolly’s were so I could move in easier. This was probably the best experience I’ve had at a storage facility and they definitely did not have to do all of that given that I showed up at office closing hours. The space was clean, secure, and with the dolly/ carts, not that hard to move into. They even have a bathroom if your moving takes a while and you gotta go lol. Although the unit may look small when it’s empty it fits a LOT, as long as you stack the boxes like you’re supposed to. Overall 5/5 experience and super happy with my choice thus far.”

Thank God they had something available nearby, otherwise I'll have to bus it over to a different location. It's convenient, nearby and the rental has been easier every time. Definitely would come back. Honestly if my vehicle is still at the shop, I would have no choice but to. Keep up the good work.”

“I cannot speak higher of this U-Haul Dealer. I reserved a Van, and when I showed up the nice Gentleman in charge helped me right away. It literally took 10 minutes and I was out the door with the van. I came back in 2 hours and he received me with a smile and sent me the receipt for the rental via email.
Overall, the best service and the Van was brand new and very clean. 100 % recommended!”

“A few years ago before COVID I was going to NEIU near here. I worked 2 jobs full time. I also did sex work and sold plasma. I could not afford an apartment. I paid and lived here in a unit and the security woman knew and just advised me to clean up and leave early without trouble. I think about her often. She helped me much more than she even knows. I graduated school with top honors, and today I'm living abroad and teaching, a big turn around. My mind often comes back here. My cat would wait outside for me to return from work/school too (rip Gizmo, who traveled with me and passed away last year at 13 y.o. I miss you so so much).
These storage units are a piece of my life forever. I'm not sure if it was fixed, but you used to be able to brute force open the doors after a certain time with card access.
5 stars for the security lady who helped save my life. In contrast, another different storage unit business nearby called the police on me and nearly upended my life.”
