“Rented a Ford Transit 250 high roof cargo van to move stuff from Brooklyn to Chicago and returned it here because it was the cheapest drop off location (would have paid >$100 extra to return in Chicago; grateful for the Penske phone rep who helped me find the best deal). The Penske counter is the same as the Home Depot tool rental counter, and the guy who helped me out was very kind, friendly, and had some fun dad-like jokes prepared as we inspected the rental together. (He also writes noir fiction and I'm bummed I've forgotten the name of his book; would like to check it out). I filled the tank at the grocery just north of the Home Depot, which seemed to be the cheapest in the vicinity -- but wish I'd also filled up right before entering Illinois, as the tank is huge and Indiana was way cheaper. Anyway, wouldn't hesitate to rent from or return to this spot! Glad I went with Penske; Budget was cheaper but they don't guarantee the vehicle you select will be there, and I had a great experience at both pick up and drop off as well as a sparkling clean, brand new van (I think they're just starting their cargo van program, so they're all fairly new).”

“I had a business emergency, we had two days to vacate 3500sf, so I stopped at Extra Space in Morton Grove and the staff was amazing. We rented two large units, and during our move in we were constantly checked on due to the extreme heat and kept properly hydrated by being providing cold bottles of water. Lisa and Mark helped provide a solution all while providing excellent customer service.”

“I called the store prepared for a battle in regards to my bill but what I received was a very articulate, professional young lady named Sharneese who explained in detail what happened and a possible solution for the problem. She said that she would have to get in touch with management for approval and would have to call me back once that occurred. I thought to my self… I’ll never hear from her again, she’s just trying to get me off the phone but to my surprise in less than five minutes she called me back saying the issue had been resolved prompting me to write this review. Thank you Sharneese for your professionalism and courtesy.”

They also didn’t mind me waiting around in the store for ride to pick me up

“I've rented my share of trucks,, vans and trailers and my experience at Uhaul in Lincoln Park was the best! I specifically reserved here because I wanted to be sure to get a cargo van, not whatever was available at a random garage. We arrived right at opening on a Friday and checked out within minutes. The van we rented was ready to go - clean and easy to drive. We returned it 11 hours later (had rented it for the day, so 24 hours) and return was easy peasy. The people who work at this location are friendly and helpful and the equipment was excellent! Thank you, Uhaul of Lincoln Park!”
“I showed up bright and early to get a hitch installed, which I had reserved online earlier in the week, only to find that the system hadn't taken my reservation. (That's bad on corporate, not this location).
I thought my holiday weekend was ruined without a bike rack hitch, but Veronica very kindly took it upon herself to apologize for the glitch and work her magic to get me taken care of.
The installation only took a couple of hours and everything looks great. Thanks again to Veronica for saving my weekend!”

“The U-Haul in Ravenswood a very good service given to me. Even though the location of this place is hidden; no big U-Haul sign outside of this U-Haul location!. It was hard for me to find this U-Haul since there are barely any signs outside saying that U-Haul is there. When I seen all the U-Haul trucks in the back that’s when I found out that there was a U-Haul there. The service was great though.. Sam, even called me to let me know about an issue, so that there says “good communication” and “good customer service”. The employees all on top of their job! even got help parking the truck for returning it and checking out the truck :) and that went good :). Even U-Hauls app, online payment system and over the phone payment processing service and system was great and it is great!.. I recommend it!.. I recommend this location for your truck moving need.”

“I have rented U-Hauls a few times before over the past 25 years in various locations in various cities and states. This was not a new truck BUT it was spotless and ran perfectly, which was a first. The owner of the location was ready for me, he and the rest of the staff were kind and helpful. Truly the simplest rental I have had through u-haul yet. Moving anything is a stressful but this was not.”

“Five stars for Beatrice at U-Haul Moving & Storage of Niles. She provided outstanding customer service during a particularly stressful time.
Beatrice took my initial reservation over the phone and remembered a special request I had made when I came to pick up the truck. She was friendly and personable, and she answered all my questions fully and completely.
Several hours later, when I had run out of room in the truck I’d reserved, I called Beatrice for help renting a trailer. She once again remembered me and promptly told me to get over to her location ASAP, so she could help me before she had to leave for the day. She had the trailer, the hardware, and the technician all ready when I pulled in.
Beatrice was a shining star on moving day, and I am grateful for my experience with her!!”

“A few years ago before COVID I was going to NEIU near here. I worked 2 jobs full time. I also did sex work and sold plasma. I could not afford an apartment. I paid and lived here in a unit and the security woman knew and just advised me to clean up and leave early without trouble. I think about her often. She helped me much more than she even knows. I graduated school with top honors, and today I'm living abroad and teaching, a big turn around. My mind often comes back here. My cat would wait outside for me to return from work/school too (rip Gizmo, who traveled with me and passed away last year at 13 y.o. I miss you so so much).
These storage units are a piece of my life forever. I'm not sure if it was fixed, but you used to be able to brute force open the doors after a certain time with card access.
5 stars for the security lady who helped save my life. In contrast, another different storage unit business nearby called the police on me and nearly upended my life.”
