“I had an experience at Walgreens yesterday that I think management should truly recognize.
I was assisting a client with very limited mobility, and the situation at checkout became challenging. She was struggling to find her money and was also speaking very negatively about herself, which drew attention and made the moment more stressful for her. I briefly stepped out to locate her payment, and throughout all of this, the cashier, Jacob, remained incredibly patient, calm, and respectful.
He never rushed us, never showed frustration, and treated my client with dignity the entire time—something that meant more than I can fully express. When I returned, he continued to handle everything with kindness and professionalism, helping bring the situation to a smooth close.
What stood out most to me was that this reflected the mission of Faith in Action, the nonprofit I work for in the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon area—simple, quiet compassion and grace shown to someone in a vulnerable moment.
