“This vintage shop is beautifully curated. Not only are all of the items -- from antiques to vintage clothes --clean and pressed/polished, but they carry a range (and I mean a range!) of sizes. Prices are fair. Are they thrift store prices? No. But you're paying for the curation and care of solid vintage pieces. And, again--- the sizes!!!!”
“Been shopping since ‘85. Now I volunteer. It is super fun. I would arrange my work schedule to shop here, because the sale dates are very limited. Put the dates on your calendar! Almost all volunteer run!!! They support several Oak Park Charities. It is a worthwhile cause and a blast to shop. It is an old mansion and each room has a different kind of merchandise. A real treasure hunt.”
“Great resale shop. Really well organized, near, clean and displayed. I'll be going back frequently. Even the books are organized, so the Captain Underpants books aren't mixed in with cooking or adult fiction. A joy to shop here!”

“The staff is friendly and helpful. I fortunately visited during 25% sales and in my size find great deals. It's crowded usually during those sales so keep that in mind. They are closed on specific days so plan accordingly.”
“I saw this place randomly as I drove by, and decided to stop. Extremely glad I did. I found a really nice jacket, and a bunch of little stuff to give as additional Christmas gifts. The folks at the desk were helpful and engaging, and even random customers started conversation and gave advise. Saved in my favorites, I will be back in the new year!”
“To me The Brown Elephant are the best thrift shops. Much care is given to the donations. The shops are nice to visit and have a variety of things including furniture to the most small trinkets.”
“I was impressed with the unusual mostly vintage furnishings. The quality of fabrics and workmanship of the clothing and accessories was magnificent. I bought an assortment of incense on this first visit (unplanned) as I tried not to take home pieces I didn't have space to house. The service was welcoming and friendly. I'll visit again and again.”
“It's genuinely one of the better thrift shops. Why? Prices. The pricing is fantastic. Yes this place supports a charity, but they also aren't trying to gauge me for a used item with no return policy. I wish people would stop paying higher prices to other places that are charity driven. Because this model works. They get plenty of donations, they are constantly busy, I always spend a lot of money there. Also Kevin fixes watch batteries! It's perfect.”

“This is a small thrift store in a strip mall with a parking problem. (There are signs telling Wings customers specifically where they can't park.) Very well organized inside. It contains mostly quality goods (clothes to household to furniture to jewelry) priced up higher than most thrift stores. However, you sometimes find special items that aren't carried in the Salvation Armies or Goodwills that make it worth stopping in.”
“Such a great store. They have the best donors so they have lots of fantastic items to choose from. They change their displays with fresh inventory daily. Well thought window dressing. Frequent special offers. One of my favorite weekly stops to drop off my recyclie and reuse, and find new treasures. Come by, I'm confident you will return.”
“I call Treasures Depot the "Treasure Trove" of the Canal because of the store's unique qualities. This is the store that will redesign a home to its unique, vintage, and modern stages. When stepping into the store all you would see are endless possibilities, an array of valuable pieces for your own interior design and your unique taste. The first thing that I bought was ceramic tile for my floors.”

“I've been a pretty frequent regular here for many years, but I'm thinking a *lot* of the shoppers here are too.In truth it's just a such a nice place and a lovely crew, there's too much love in my heart to not give it a good rating. I'm finding the inventory changes less and less every time I visit though, and after overhearing the selection is restocked and organized on a daily basis I've only been left to assume that close to anything that hasn't been sitting out for a while is getting nabbed up pretty competitively. Even a month or two's time they'll have out an entirely different seasonal entrance table, but so much of the rest of the store still manages to look so familiar that I'll surprise myself with how much I remember so clearly.As an avid thrifter It's been a much less frequent stop in my rotation unfortunately, but I could give it all the same praise and recommendation as these ratings I see before me have. Please do visit and support it!”

“This thrift store is AMAZING. They price the items fairly and it has a great selection. I wear 3X and I was able to find cute items including 2 halloween dresses (a month back) and a couple of cute long sleeve shirts. The volunteer Diamond was so helpful...Thank you Diamond! “I was recently drawn into the store by a cardigan in the window and left with a huge bag of treasures ranging from a jacket to a blouse to that cardigan I'd spotted to a beautiful ceramic pot that I enjoy looking at and an adorable beaded purse that will go with a beaded dress I happen to own. And I found all of that in just the 30 minutes before the store closed! Plus, when I went to check out, the store clerk, Valerie, was so helpful, delighted by my discoveries, and kind that I found myself feeling as if I'd gone shopping with a friend despite being alone. Thoughtful service, a great selection, and great values will all draw me back there again.”
“This place has EVERYTHING! Clothes for the whole family, little and big things for the house, the kitchen, and entertainment. And the owners are super nice! They are always getting new things in so it's worth repeat visits on the regular”
“Upon first entering The Brown Elephant, you might feel that this is not your average Thrift store. In some sections, it is more organized than other stores of its kind. This store has more furniture than anything else, and the prices were a little higher than your average Thrift store. I would suggest checking in here every once in a while, as their inventory changes quickly. Also like to support this store because proceeds go to health screenings and support for the LGBTQ community”
“A very cute thrift shop! Definitely smaller than most, but there were so many wonderful items I saw! I spotted lots of nice dress shirts (even some Brooks Brothers!) and ended up snagging a pair of vintage Calvin Klein jeans for $1.62! The folks inside were friendly and there's one fitting room to try clothes on in!”
“I love shopping here. There is always a good selection of women's and men's clothing and the prices are reasonable. They have clothes starting at $4 and also offer a designer collection if you are looking for something special. It truly is a Chicago treasure.”

“I had great luck here today, 3 items tried/3 items purchased. Prices were higher here than some other thrift stores, but nice stuff. They take Venmo, cash or check but no credit cards. But look out for the non-private changing room, lol. I was in there in my skivvies and someone came in -- I called out around the screen that the room was occupied -- she kept coming! I protested that I was trying on clothes, she said in an aggravated tone, "Yes, I want to, too." When I was checking out I asked about it and they said, yes, women are expected to share a common changing space, but I was assured that men were not allowed in when women were in there. Well I should say.”
