“This vintage shop is beautifully curated. Not only are all of the items -- from antiques to vintage clothes --clean and pressed/polished, but they carry a range (and I mean a range!) of sizes. Prices are fair. Are they thrift store prices? No. But you're paying for the curation and care of solid vintage pieces. And, again--- the sizes!!!!”

“Hands down my favorite thrift shop. It’s not huge, but what it may lack in size more than makes up for quality. Fabulous, unique finds with excellent pricing and supports awesome cause. I will definitely support this establishment.”

“To me The Brown Elephant are the best thrift shops. Much care is given to the donations. The shops are nice to visit and have a variety of things including furniture to the most small trinkets.”

“I saw this place randomly as I drove by, and decided to stop. Extremely glad I did. I found a really nice jacket, and a bunch of little stuff to give as additional Christmas gifts. The folks at the desk were helpful and engaging, and even random customers started conversation and gave advise. Saved in my favorites, I will be back in the new year!”

“I call Treasures Depot the "Treasure Trove" of the Canal because of the store's unique qualities. This is the store that will redesign a home to its unique, vintage, and modern stages. When stepping into the store all you would see are endless possibilities, an array of valuable pieces for your own interior design and your unique taste. The first thing that I bought was ceramic tile for my floors.”

“I loved this place. They are very welcoming (s/o to Angela the owner) and they have something for everyone. The vibes are great here. It's also the first consignment shop on the south side of Chicago (that I know of). I highly recommend checking them out. I found some great stuff!”

“Such a cool little place! I went by and the woman working there was super friendly and helpful, and was so fun to talk with. I found a cute pair of boots, belt, some craft supplies, and even a set of utensils at a great price! If you want to thrift primarily for clothes, I would say you might have a harder time (they have really unique pieces, which is awesome, but it’s just a small selection), but if you want anything else, they have such a neat selection of items. Kitchenware, jewelry, scarves, kids toys, pottery, fancy teacups, yarn, lace, buttons, and a bunch of other fun knickknacks. The awesome staff means I’ll definitely be back to check out what new stuff they have in the future!”

“A very cute thrift shop! Definitely smaller than most, but there were so many wonderful items I saw! I spotted lots of nice dress shirts (even some Brooks Brothers!) and ended up snagging a pair of vintage Calvin Klein jeans for $1.62! The folks inside were friendly and there's one fitting room to try clothes on in!”

“I stop here most of the time to check out their ever changing selection of used books. So even if I get a dud, I only spent a nickel or dime. But this place is still pretty fun to walk around, with a musty smell that reminds me of my grandparent's basement. And since we usually drop stuff off here after garage sales (they will accept anything from clothing and furniture, to kids toys), it is always fun to see some of your old stuff recycled. (And yeah, it was hard not for me not to want to buy my old Rock-em-Sock-em Robots back!)”

“Such a great store. They have the best donors so they have lots of fantastic items to choose from. They change their displays with fresh inventory daily. Well thought window dressing. Frequent special offers. One of my favorite weekly stops to drop off my recyclie and reuse, and find new treasures. Come by, I'm confident you will return.”

“I've been a pretty frequent regular here for many years, but I'm thinking a *lot* of the shoppers here are too.In truth it's just a such a nice place and a lovely crew, there's too much love in my heart to not give it a good rating. I'm finding the inventory changes less and less every time I visit though, and after overhearing the selection is restocked and organized on a daily basis I've only been left to assume that close to anything that hasn't been sitting out for a while is getting nabbed up pretty competitively. Even a month or two's time they'll have out an entirely different seasonal entrance table, but so much of the rest of the store still manages to look so familiar that I'll surprise myself with how much I remember so clearly. As an avid thrifter It's been a much less frequent stop in my rotation unfortunately, but I could give it all the same praise and recommendation as these ratings I see before me have. Please do visit and support it!”

“I love this place dearly They're always circulating new inventory. Has great selections of rugs, watches, shoes, games and toys, sports devices, purses and bags, jewelry, yarn, clothes of all kinds, designer clothes, DVDs, CDs, VCR tape things, records, kitchen and office supplies, crafts, curtains, blankets and throws, furniture, musical instruments, working electronics, a whole couple of isles of glass and dish ware, a library of books, art, mirrors, tall and small lamps. Prices are not the lowest of all time, but I've found some incredible things here and always notice something new. I don't mind spending my coin here. They keep the place looking fresh and mix up the layout every once in a while. The variety of customers I see here range from just about anyone and everyone. Love the staff, love the people that greet you at the door (and sometimes will ask to check your bag depending on the size or type). I will continue coming back until forever.”

“I stopped by today for the first time. Nice, clean, store. Very friendly manager and unfortunately I didn't have enough time to really take a look at things because they were closing in 15 minutes but I managed to find a really pretty throw pillow. Very reasonably priced and the pillow looked new, I will be back”

“My best thrift store find of all time: two years ago I found the original pressings of every vinyl album by Talking Heads and the jacket sleeve and vinyl were in perfect condition, all for $1 each! Unfortunately, 99% of their vinyl album in very bad condition and by mediocre artists from the 1950s-1980s. So what's this store about? Well, true to their slogan, it's a different store every day. VDO is what I call a collector's thrift store because they seem to have certain unusual things that you find over and over again which you tend to not see at other thrift stores. If you collect these type of things, you want to stop by regularly. I've been shopping at this store since the late 90s and it's changed little; still dusty, still disorganized, but with less women in hijabs and red dots on their forehead who seem to live an utterly miserable existence. But in their defense, I don't care for the stories I used to hear about how the employees are treated and I'm guessing they're true because they always seem to be working at any given time I'm there. The employees seem less miserable these days. Does it matter to a shopper? Yes, I think it does. The back corner with the books and misc. merchandise is always a mess, which is too bad, and sometimes hazardous by junk with sharp edges piled up in a precariously way. Pulling something out of the heap can be like playing Jenga, so be careful. There are certain unique things I find here regularly. I've found some great stuff much cheaper than it would be on eBay or a second-hand boutique, but you have take your time, and dig around. They have a lot of clothes, which is nice, but I don't have as much luck finding nice stuff for a good price like I do with non-clothing items. The real downside of looking for stuff there is the narrow aisle and rude customers who can be absolute obstacles to get around. Sometimes there are some customers on the down and out so bad that have to either put up with them, keep your distance, or just leave. In general, it's a fun place to go digging if bored or just passing time or a collector on the hunt, and if there's something you actually need, you're likely to have good luck too if you keep checking in.”

I will def be back and I highly recommend you check it out as well!”

“Always a line when I pull in. However they move quickly. If you get out no problem to give bags however I have seen vehicles in front of me where they open their trunk and the clerk takes the items out”
