“One night I went into our bedroom and found a chipmunk on our bed. Quickly went to our local Ace and asked for help. The sales associate told me what product I could use (sticky pads) and gave me directions on how to use it, even suggesting using peanut butter as bait. I went home and followed his directions. An hour later Mr. Chipmunk was stuck to the pad and we were able to remove him from our home. Thanks Ace.”
“The employee is excellent! Today, January 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., I missed my way to the Social Security Administration facility when I was near the store. Therefore, I entered the facility to ask for help with finding my road directions because I was nervous about not being at my appointment on time. I was politely assisted by a kind man who worked as the register cashier at the store. His help allowed me to be at my appointment on time. I would like to come to this store for my electronic items in the future. THANKS!”
“We have purchased our hardware needs from Lake Forest Ace Hardware since we moved here years ago.
One of our purchases was a large Weber grill.
Late last week we had a storm in the area and our beautiful grill was picked up by a micro burst and tossed across the patio.
We called the hardware owner Chris and he personally came over and placed everything inside it that was all tossed into a mess back in perfect order and made sure it was working perfectly.
WHO DOES THAT !!!……..YOU CAN DEPEND ON THEM !!

“Al Bar provided hardware restoration services on numerous original door and cabinet hardware components in our national landmark 1901 Frank Lloyd Wright E. Arthur Davenport House over the last 20 years. Our original 1901 hardware has a rare Bower Barff Finish that is quite beautiful. They did an amazing job in restoring the original finish. Their technical expertise in finding or replicating missing screws and components is superb. As a Restoration Architect and Frank Lloyd Wright House Owner I highly recommend them.”

“This place gets the full 5 stars from me! My front door knobs had custom dimensions and lots of holes from previous owners. Any other specialty hardware store I went to suggested I spend thousands on mediocre hardware or buy new doors. When I came in to Wilmette hardware and presented my challenge, Justin was super supportive and helped me find a solution. He welcomed my creativity. The owner offered up his help and expertise as well. I now have my DREAM front door knobs. They were easy to reach if I had any questions. Door knobs were well wrapped and shipped to me quickly. “We had HD install new carpet on the stairs down to our finished basement. We couldn’t be happier with every step of the process. Our salesman was very helpful in helping us make our selection. The time for our measurement and delivery/install were very reasonable and the two installers did a wonderful job - careful, clean and very friendly. We appreciated how they explained the difference between a waterfall installation and a Hollywood installation - something we had never heard of before, but opted for it and are glad we did. It all looks beautiful.”

I had great experience at the store today when picking up 8 bags of garden soil by myself.
