“My physical therapist recommended that I buy a really good chair to prevent or reduce the lower back pain I get when sitting at my desk for a long time. The brand she recommended was sold at only one place in the Chicago area and I was incredibly lucky that the retailer happened to be Applied Ergonomics. I made an appointment with Jeff, the owner, who was absolutely amazing. He helped me find the perfect chair and I can't say enough good things about my experience. Although it is obviously more lucrative for Jeff to work with customers who are outfitting an entire office rather than buying just one chair, he made me feel welcome and spent a great deal of time having me try out different brands and models to make sure I got something that was very comfortable and supportive. My daughter, who was with me, was so impressed with Jeff's knowledge that she too decided to get fitted for a chair and also purchased an adjustable stand-up desk. Jeff's help didn't stop with the fitting. My daughter lives in LA and he spent a lot of time finding the most cost-effective way to have her desk and chair shipped from overseas to LA and delivered by a service where she could schedule a date and time that was convenient for her. My daughter and I were amazed how friendly and accommodating Jeff was. We would highly recommend Applied Ergonomics to anyone looking for higher-end chairs and desks and the service to match.”

“Crate & Barrel Old Orchard = Elite Customer Service. I leave a lot of reviews (and I’m not shy about it), but this was one of those rare times I felt genuinely impressed beyond expectation. I stopped in at Crate & Barrel Old Orchard in Skokie, IL, absolutely drained from shopping for what feels like an endless list of things to fill my home. (First world problem: how do you even furnish 6,000 square feet without it looking ridiculous?)
Beaux greeted me right away and was an absolute standout—warm, knowledgeable, and so helpful. He immediately pulled fabric samples for banquettes and guided me through ideas without me even having to ask. The level of service felt personal, polished, and genuinely caring. Beaux is honestly 10 stars out of 5.
Later, another team member (possibly a manager, though I didn’t catch her name) went above and beyond to walk me through the store and help me find the perfect pieces. They didn’t have to do any of it—but they did.
Side note: I cringed walking in thinking about my dated, 90s over-the-top granite tile floors at home, but even that was met with kindness and compliments. That’s the level of grace and customer care you’ll get at this location.

Customer service like this is rare and must come from the founder himself, passed down to his family, and espoused by the employees of the company. The Skokie design team was amazing, patient, understanding, and full of design alternatives that have transformed our living room into the space it has long deserved. “There was definitely a need for some restocking as it definitely had a "picked over" vibe with many areas and shelves empty/sparse.
Still found a nice sheet set. Just not sure if the prices are what they used to be...I bought the queen sheet set for $35...that seems on par with online pricing and not a super deal like Homegoods used to be.”

“I had ordered a ghost mirror from the PB website and unfortunately it stopped working after 1 week. Customer service told me I could send it back and get a replacement right away - but I threw my box away. I took the 35 lb mirror into the store at Old Orchard mall and they accepted it back and told me they would call customer service to let them know that the mirror had been returned but they cannot send it back for awhile since they too needed to wait on a box big enough. Before I was home, I got an email saying that my replacement mirror has shipped out. Thank you so much to the PB OO team for making this process easy. I loved that mirror and I am so excited to try again with it.”
