“I loved this place! So many cute trinkets, vintage comics, cassettes, and toys and soooo many pokemon cards (graded and ungraded). Amazing hospitality and so much love goes into this place. Do visit!”
“Was advised to check this place out since I just relocated and needed several furniture items. Not only did I get some furniture, but there were also some other small home items and cool shoes that I went home with. If you need help with delivery, they do have a list of three private people that they refer customers to if you don't have the physical means to move purchased big items. I didn't spend too much time in clothes and shoes since I was on a furniture and home mission, but everything looked well organized and selected where some donation stores look as though items aren't well sorted or some items may not be in good condition to sell. All staff were extremely patient and kind and I will be definitely returning in the future. I feel they have strong community pride, and the business is well worth supporting.”
“Such a lovely store. Can’t sing Jen’s praises enough. She made my husband and I feel so welcome. Wonderfully organized but you can still have that “digging around” thrifting experience. Support this business!!!”
“BEST selection of reasonably priced funky clothes, shoes, and jewelry in Chicago! Good furniture and a fun store atmosphere and staff. Not as much bricabrac but well worth a visit.”
“The store is well-organized, clean, and filled with a thoughtfully curated selection of clothing, home goods, and unique treasures — all at affordable prices. Every visit feels like an adventure, and you never know what incredible items you’ll discover. The quality of the merchandise is consistently impressive, and it’s clear that everything is carefully chosen and well cared for. The layout makes browsing enjoyable, and the welcoming atmosphere encourages you to take your time exploring.
What makes Monarch Thrift Shop truly special is the warmth and heart behind it. The staff and volunteers are kind, helpful, and passionate about supporting the community through their work. They go above and beyond to create a positive experience for every customer, and the proceeds go toward a great cause, making each purchase even more rewarding. You leave not only with something wonderful but also with the satisfaction of supporting a business that gives back. Monarch Thrift Shop is more than just a thrift store — it’s a place where style, value, and compassion come together beautifully.”
“This shop is truly a hidden gem! My husband and I discovered it while celebrating his birthday, and we’re so glad we did. The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more special. We found so many wonderful treasures—my husband picked up a collectible book, and I couldn’t resist some gorgeous jewelry, a lovely scarf, a chic hat, elegant glassware, and even a stylish wine carrier. Every piece felt unique and thoughtfully curated. You won’t be disappointed when you visit!”
“A fantastic thrift store that gives back to the local community. Quality items at great prices. One of my favorite places to thrift and they have a parking lot.”
“The store manager was helpful and kind. She shared different content creators online to get inspiration from. I will definitely be returning with my mom to show her the place as well.”

“Give Jovan a raise and less responsibilities right now!!
I was in here and it was slammed and there was a line even with enough cashiers, which was no one's fault, everyone in line seemingly had some edge case issue. Jovan was handling helping fellow cashiers with their edge cases while handling my own which was that for years I've had two emails on my account and it's been confusing every time for me and the cashiers and no matter what no one could fix it. Well Jovan took notes, told me I was the second person today with this issue, and explained to me that he could not fix it but explained to me what could be done.”

“Em and Z! The best duo for all your jewelry needs. Unreal hospitality, energy off the roof, and advice that was genuine. The energy of this block strives on local business and this is a MUST stop next time you’re in Wicker Park!”

“Loved coming here for housewares and trinkets. I like that their prices have remained affordable and hope they stay that way, because that in itself is community service. The space is always clean, neatly organized and staff are kind. I'd say their open hours are normal for non-profit storefronts.”
“This was first time in this sweet shop but not my last. I thought that I had been UNDERcharged for an item; the owner kindly addressed it all. There are so many nifty items that will attract all visitors.”
“Nice Staff who do a great job arranging the donated items. I especially love the openings with fresh restocking every season. Elana the manger is doing a fantastic job at the helm.”
“I recently found this thrift and I really like it, but I really want to say I think it’s a really beautiful service they’re offering that they will help trans folks with appointments to help them learn to dress for their new body! I love to support somewhere that’s willing to be so kind to the community”
“I cannot express enough how much I love this place! I always leave with the best finds. I find the prices to be very reasonable. The store associates are always super friendly. I've had a great experience both in person and over Instagram when they post the new items.”
“Some great finds with amazing prices! I also appreciate knowing that it's going to a good cause. The workers are volunteers and we're very friendly and helpful. I'll definitely go back to both donate and purchase items.”
“Everyone who works here is a gem, I love the service they provide (helpful but hands off, perfect for my Gen Z avoidant nature) but not the best selection. Giving 5 stars because no one who works here can really help that. Clothing is decently priced, furniture goods are not as generous, but I get it, we all have to keep the lights on. Overall a great stop and shop for the neighborhood.”
“Great small thrift store! Prices are tagged by color, and the price list is posted behind the counter. The employee working there was very nice, and the store was clean, organized, and easy to browse. They have dressing rooms available, baskets to use, and a rack where you can hang items you're considering so you don't have to carry everything around. There's a good selection of women's and men's clothing, jewelry, and shoes, all fairly priced and affordable. I would definitely come back, and it's also very accessible by transit.”
“Love coming here!! It is a treasure chest of jewelry, clothing, shoes, house stuff and more. Today i found Salvador Ferragamo boots, in Chocolate brown in my size!! I bought a flower arrangement in a basket in perfect condition
And brand new mugs. I started Xmas shopping for sure! Nancy the manager is always so friendly and helpful. Thank you for expanding the store. It looks bright and shiny! Congratulations Wings and Nancy on a job really well done!”

“Nice and genuine people.Everyone is very helpful and kind. I go there on every Monday and Wednesday. It's really fun and new learnings. Hats off to their work”
“This is one of the best thrift stores in the north shore. It began years ago as a clothing exchange for the preschool that shares the building and evolved from there. They are so well organized and do an excellent job of putting items on sale when they have too much of something. They are volunteer run and donations go to local charities. It’s a gem of a place to donate and shop.”

“Absolutely love the Shop from the attentive staff and volunteers, to the amazing window displays, from the great selection of clean, quality clothing that I am saving from a landfill to the important mission. So glad to have the shop in town.”
“Fabulous shop with amazing finds! One of the best curated thrift stores I’ve ever visited - with the best owner! The selection here is incredible; every rack feels intentional and thoughtfully chosen. Clothing, accessories, and home décor are well organized, making it easy to find high-quality pieces.
The store is clean, welcoming, and has a boutique-like feel while still offering great prices. There is care put into sourcing and displaying items.
If you love thrifting but appreciate a well-curated, stylish experience, this place is a gem to seek out. I have found some really unique items. Highly recommend!”
“Everything is 7.39... ? ?, but clean facility... nice staff...no more daily color sales
They took the fun out of shopping, just call it the $8.00 store...”

“Donated items twice in the last few weeks - the donation center staff was SO kind and very friendly. This is also the store I take my friends to when they visit and want a thrift. All kinds of stuff here!”
“Was overwhelmed by all the awesome finds there. I mean there were JEANS upon JEANS. I found some really nice hats, pants, shirts, literally everything. If you’re looking for gym shoes, there might not be many, but either way it’s still good.”
“I have severe allergies and most Thrift stores are dirty and I can only stand to ne in there for 10 min or less. Goodwill on Touhy is so clean that I was able to shop around and no sneezing.”
