“Every Saturday, I take my 95 year old grandfather to lunch then shopping at this ALDI for his weekly groceries. It has become a tradition that I am thankful for. ALDI is always clean and well-stocked. The staff is friendly and helpful. And, of course, their prices are better than any other grocery store.”
“Good little supermarket with a really good selection. Some things can be pretty pricey but do usually have a good variety of sale. Glad the store is there we don't have a store in New Athens”

“I love walking through the store and seeing the new merchandise! But what I appreciate more is that their feed is almost always stocked! I go in weekly for chicken feed and to get dog food…we buy the store brand and get diamond for the dogs and yet have I needed to be worried that I may not be able to get the feed that we use.It’s always in stock and stacked up. I’ve met and have been helped by a guy named Nick multiple times with different products that I could use to eliminate odor in the coop. He spoke of his experiences with the different brands of odor eliminators that he had used with his animals and it was so helpful and gave the guidance of what choice I wanted to make and the price range o wanted to stay with.
I also wanted to shout out to a lady who I cannot recall her name but was so helpful in giving me her recommendations on helping with internal parasites my chickens were dealing with and how to help them. She was a kind shorter and very helpful lady! I’ve seen her work with the chicks and help them if they needed. I’ve purchased chicks from them through the past few years and I have ALWAYS HAD GREAT SUCCESS with their chicks. Never had any roosters and have had healthy babies.
I stopped going to the other tractor/farm stores and will only go to Swansea’s Big R. I’ve noticed they have been cleaning house with some of the workers and so far their crew is super wonderful. Thank you guys!!! Keep up the good work!”
“Having shopped at this commissary almost every week for the last 30 years I can say I still very much appreciate it being here for all of us active duty and retired. Thank you to all of the employees many of whom I've known for many years and a huge shout out to the unpaid baggers who are working for tips only.
March 2026 edit:
Heads up to all Scott commissary shoppers as of early April of 2026 you will no longer have the option of getting free bags. Plastic bags will cost a nickel paper bags will cost a dime. Do yourself a favor and shift over to cloth bags The baggers say they like them better also.”

“I am a retail customer and not a business owner. That being said, the selection at Switzers is adequate for meal prep cooking, and the prices are fair for the quantity. Like a small Sam's or Costco.
They do offer smaller packaged items for local products like pizza, sauces, and other things as well.
The two men at the counter were incredibly helpful navigating us through the store.
Overall we were very happy we stopped in, and we will be returning.”
“Nice little local store. I liked the selection of local products, including salsa and pickles and farm fresh eggs, but the prices for some things are a little high. Good for a quick last minute stop or to pick up fresh food from the hot counter.”

Store is well-stocked and the staff are VERY friendly. Parking lot, Floors are clean and everything is tidy. Produce and Deli have fresh and great selections. Dierbergs has better meat , but everything their is much more expensive. Try to buy local , this is the place!”

“EVERYTIME I go into this store the personnel is extremely personal! They greet me by name and I send all my friends to this one! I frequent these stores cuz I have a house cleaning business so since they are in every town, I see a lot of them and the service in this one is by far the BEST! They care about us as customers and it feels like home! Ashley and the store manager, Dawn are their “rocks” of this store! When I come in and there is a new employee, they introduce me and my support doggie, I feel important! THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL STAFF THAT CARES!!!!”

“Has variety of products in organized fashion. Refrigerated and frozen food items, fresh vegetables and household products are in supply. Self check out or cashier makes it a quick trip. Household decor better than any other area DG and is visually pleasing due to how well organized they keep the store. Convenient location too!”

“Dollar general in new Athens stays open till 10 pm Monday through Sunday and prices on somethings are cheeper than Marissa Dg and top it off with closing an hour early all week . So the price difference is probably due to 7 less hours in Marissa.”

“Went to the store at 8:15 am on 2/26. Store was NOT open, employee was inside and unlocked the door about 20 after 8, website says the store opens at 8:00 am not 8:20 am. The store is one of the better ones in the area.”

“This dollar general was very crowded as there where boxes from the truck lining the isles. Two women working tirelessly away stocking literally an entire store full of boxes. So many idk where theyll fit all those extras Im sure are mostly toys and gift sets 4 the holidays. The 4th star goes to the 2 ladies tag teaming it, not the company who wont provide an extra set of hands to help them deal with it.”
