“PLEASE STOP PLAYING COUNTRY MUSIC!!! Country music has become "code" for a certain brand of politics now, a politics that is conservative, alienating and distasteful. Sorry if you don't like hearing it but it's true. This is not a country music place. I don't like going into the store anymore because they have it blaring loudly which is awful for employees and customers alike. Who made that bad decision??? The new owners??? I have been a customer for 30 years and friendly to all the employees over that time. So to the new ownership: Turn off the country music and play standard popular music from the 90's to now. When you do I will change this review. Otherwise, good store and the upgrades are nice. EDITING THIS REVIEW TO SAY THE STORE WAS NOT PLAYING COUNTRY MUSIC THE LAST 2 OR 3 TIMES I WENT IN BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE. THANK YOU LAKESIDE.”

“I am a frequent shopper at this store. I recently found an old unused gift card from Sunset Foods for $100. It was probably 10 years old. Before shopping I asked the customer service guy if the card was still good. He said if it wasn't used, it was still good. I asked him to check it before I shopped. He said he didn't need to check it.
I tried to.use it at checkout and found out it was no good. This was embarrassing and I bought more items than usual, thinking I could use this card.
I paid for the groceries, but this should not have happened if he had checked the card, as I asked, before I shopped.
Prior to this, I have been very happy with the products and service.”

“Best paninis in Chicago hands down. The staff and sandwiches here are constantly friendly and delicious. Open 24 hours is so convenient and they have everything you could ever need. If you are in the area stop by for a sandwich, you will not regret it. The prices are also very fair and affordable, especially in this economy. Don’t sleep on the breakfast sandwiches either!”

“LOVE Salsa's!!! Fantastic tamales, coffee, sandwiches, fruit, and they really have everything you need. I get tamales almost every week. Everyone's super nice too.”

“Kol Tuv is a hidden gem on Devon Ave in Chicago. It is a specialty grocery store that carries an eclectic variety of foods that cater to all different populations. They have all the items you would find in a typical grocery store plus gluten free, dairy free, kosher, gourmet etc. When you go, you must check out the selection of chocolates and candies. The staff is friendly and helpful and the store is immaculate. This store makes grocery shopping fun and exciting! Hope you love it as much as we do!”

“Nice zero waste store with a lot of dry staples. Be careful because there's honey or beeswax in a lot of staff sold here. Lot of things are super expensive for what they are too, like tiny little lotion sticks for $20. Feels like you're getting kinda ripped off despite reducing waste for some things? Dry goods section is good though and you can bring your own container for a discount.”

“The owner is so kind and hospitable. He is known and loved by everyone that works at our organization. I love the chicken shawarma, but the falafel is the best I’ve had anywhere.”

“Not only are the sandwiches seriously amazing, but I have to give a huge shoutout to the team for making the situation right after our Uber driver “delivered” the food when it was nowhere to be found. They went above and beyond and remade our entire order and personally delivered it to us. As if I don’t love their sandwiches enough, this move of goodwill really won me over, I can’t recommend them enough!”

“I love shopping at harvesTime! It is the perfect sized grocery store -- you can be in a and out with what you need fairly quickly. I especially appreciate their freshly baked European style breads and fresh pastries. We typically pick up a spinach spanakopita when we stop in! They also have some unique local items sprinkled throughout the store. Meat from local farms, micro greens, tea blends, chili oil to name a couple. This fits with their ethos as a local independent grocery store.”

“We are visiting Chicago's Northern suburbs, and discovered our favorite grocery chain, TRADER JOE'S. This TJ's is stocked with the same house brands we find in Southern California. The employees are kind and knowledgeable. You know, they listen when you ask a question, then take you to that item. Checking out is quick, easy, and the bagger will move it to your car. Incidentally, TJ,s reusable bags have a long life.

And yes, the prices are good too.

There's an excellent selection of fruits and vegetables, packaged meats, cheese, unique spices, vegan and gluten free foods.

But the real joy of Trader Joe's is their selection of unique snacks, entrees, and desserts. However, there is a catch. TJ's branded products are constantly changing. If you see it and like it - buy it. It may not be there tomorrow.

Everything's ADA compatible. Plenty of free parking.”

“I prefer this Trader Joe’s over the other North Shore locations.

It’s clean, well-stocked, and efficiently run. You’ve got the usual Trader Joe’s vibe, a little crunchy, a little chaotic, but this one feels manageable. Like Whole Foods with a sense of humor.

The staff is friendly and actually tries to talk to you at checkout. Sometimes it’s a solid, normal human interaction. Sometimes it feels like we’re both being held hostage by corporate cheerfulness. Either way, I respect the effort.

Selection is good, most things are in stock if you time it right, and it doesn’t feel like you’re accidentally attending a sustainability seminar while buying frozen orange chicken.

Overall, strong location. In, out, groceries secured. No spiritual awakening required.”

“Imagine you are trying out a new recipe. This calls for a little bit of a certain spice. Now you can either buy an entire bottle that will gather dust (i.e. start clumping) after a couple uses, or do 'unauthorized modifications' to the recipe. Enter Wild Onion - they have something I've never seen in a grocery store before... you're able to buy spices and some baking needs (e.g. cornmeal) by weight! No more caked up spices or asking mom if you can borrow some cumin, and having her give you the whole bottle anyway. Another area where Wild Onion shines is the sheer volume of local products. It is like a little farmers market in a store. While I understand why these products are more expensive than Kroger's, other products came with some sticker shock. Since Wild Onion is small, it likely won't replace your everyday grocery store. However, it can be an excellent supplement, especially if you're looking for something locally grown/made (in the case of bread), or just a bit of a spice. Final note, while interaction has been limited, service was refreshingly kind and welcoming. Thus, Wild Onion won't make it into my regular rotation, but when I need something a little extra special or specific, it will be the first place I go.”

“Amazingly fresh & high quality produce. Blows the Jewel and Mariano’s out of the water in terms of quality. Great selection of local & organic breads, mushrooms, and snacks.”

“I love this place. The parking lot is not that big, but the market itself is significant. There's an entire housewares section, a mandu stand, and everything else you'd expect at a grocery store. There's a variety of fruits, veggies, fish, meats, and frozen foods, all at fantastic prices. Will definitely be coming here regularly.”

“Some good some so-so. I like their meat selection but their apple pie is subpar. Just a really lousy apple pie. The workers are much friendlier and less creepy than the Northbrook location.”

“Let me just start by saying, I saw a reel on instagram and only came here for the promise of a gluten free bagel lol. When I got here, there were no gluten free bagels to be found. However, I did find gluten free strawberry muffins, gluten free english muffins, and gluten free hamburger buns. Now, anyone who has to eat gluten free knows how awful it is. Companies pump out cardboard to us, sell it at a high price, give less quality, and less quantity. I gave the english muffins and buns a gentle squeeze and they felt really soft. I figured, let’s take a chance. How bad can it be compared to anything else on the market. I got home yesterday and had a strawberry muffin. When I say I nearly cried tears of joy, I’m not lying. They’re SO soft and SO moist; you’d never know it’s gluten free! Then I grilled up some burgers for dinner and again, to my surprise, you literally couldn’t tell the difference. I actually double checked the packaging to make sure I grabbed gluten free buns and not regular buns! This morning, I made some coffee and toasted my english muffin. Again, it was SO good and SO soft, I double checked the packaging to make sure it was in fact gluten free. Only thing I couldn’t find (I’m not sure if you even carry it to be honest) is a gluten free bagel and gluten free loaf of bread. Either way, I’ll be coming back just because of those three gluten free items. Thank you for making gluten free enjoyable!!”

“Ukranian grocery store with a pretty great selection of both European and American fare. Baked goods are amazing, fresh meat is very cheap, and produce is always fresh. Staff is very friendly as well.”

“Perfect grocery store for college students who want good beer and exotic snacks. Definitely not an affordable option for most groceries, but their well curated beer, cider, and seltzer selection is a draw. Great employees as well.”

“I live about 30 min away, and not in the area often. This place is a mandatory visit for me during the holiday season, when I pick up several frozen entrees - including the pasta prosciutto and vegetable lasagna. Small place, but worth the drive. Extremely friendly staff as well.”

“Jiminy crickets!! (Okay, okay, stop over- reacting Joseph ?). But yeah, I'm only being honest with ya... I've got some complaints today! No more Mr. Nice Guy! The inventory is antiquated and sparse to say the least. They haven't got themselves a shipment in about 35 years!!!! I got some matza over Passover and boy oh boy I think I ate some dust ?.
Funny story from this location: I was in here with my family (wife, son, daughter, the whole kit and kaboodle ?) and we were starving after having a 14 hour road trip (the wife does NOT let us have fast food! Hah! Rather go hungry than consume seed oils amiright?!?) so we strolled in to grab some lunch. My young daughter was so hungry that she grabbed a pack of ramen noodles off the shelf and just started munching! Straight up rawdogging it! (Don't worry, we bought it after ?) but I gotta tell ya... weird experiences happen at this location ?. The door coming in and out is kind of awkward, makes my special needs son confused! He starts crying every single time! Hah! (That's his fault, not the store ?)
But I will say, the staff is kind and helpful. Almost makes up for the lack of groceries at this grocery store! ROTFL....LMFAO! Nothin new, buckaroo! Take a hike, pal!

Just a positive guy with a complaint here 'n there,

--Joseph ?”

“George's store is a store like all stores, it has everything one wants, but it also has things like sweets, home work, or the owner of the store does it, and the most important thing is that they get the same important taste from everything that is clean, and the prices I made are compared to you, the store has lower prices, and dealing with customers is what makes one come back to buy. Hopefully, good luck, Lord”

“I went there to buy meat for the first time and I found it is a nice store and they have everything that Arax has! They have a small grill area and we got beef kabab and I think it was better than many restaurants around the area. The meat section and restaurant employees were friendly even the cashier was good too even better than Arax cashier! I think I will go there for shopping again!”

“Clark Haus is family to me at this point. I've lived in this neighborhood for like 13 years and they've been there whenever I need to grab something quick, more complex, have questions, need help, to scare away creepy men following me around, and everything in between. This day and age, its so special & rare to have a place you feel safe & seen and know has your back. I feel like I'm in a small town rather than a big city whenever I stop in. Zach is amazing. I cannot sing his praises enough and I owe him my life TBH lol. His brother Sam is the sweetest, so is his wife, and all the crew that work there are just incredible, helpful, funny and supportive. I just absolutely love this place and they know it. But I wanted it on record too. I will be a lifelong customer and I'm so happy to have you guys! Love you all! -Kara :)”

“I love their Jewish salad and the eggplant that is already made in the little containers. The only thing that upsets me... The salads only last up to 2 days then it starts smelling sour.... weird.”
