“Ordered groceries in advance while we were traveling and they had them ready at the time we needed them. Very friendly staff member came to the car and dropped everything in the trunk. It was all accurate!”
“We love Gordon's. Going to school in Indiana in the late 80s and the 1990s, I and many of my friends loved the fiestada Mexican pizzas. They're so good they pretty much became a core memory, lol. I hadn't had one in years when a friend told me that I could order them by the case here. Sure enough, he was right. Great value for a case of 72 and they taste just as great as I remembered. They don't have them in the store, but you can order them and they usually have them in within 1 day!
We also love to buy the 5lb cases of gyro meat, the feta cheese, and the tzatziki sauce to make gyros at home. Much better than the box kits you can buy at most stores. Always good deals to be found here. Clean and well stocked store. Friendly employees and management. Always a good experience here.”
“New to the area and stopped in for a few things. We liked the wide aisles. Shelves were well stocked. Staff noticed a lot of people in the cash line, and called for assistance. Great customer service.”
“Al's has been around since I can recall. A very clean store. Great selection, and high quality. Prices are a tab higher than others, but it's worth it. Service is A1. Awesome meat market. Cash registers always open, short lines. They value you as a customer. If you are on a budget, they also have house brands to stretch your dollar. Oh, check out the deli, their fried chicken, one of the best in town.”
“I have had a positive experience shopping at Save A Lot in Michigan City. They offer competitive prices and a decent selection of affordable items. However, I have noticed that the quality of their meat and vegetables can be inconsistent. Despite this, I appreciate their clean store and generally good prices on most items. I would rate them four stars overall.”
“Midsize, has everything that you need! Plenty of of craft beers, check out especially the end cap with the hyper local selection, good prices on cage-free eggs, decent prices on everything else. If they still have Boar's Head meat it's delicious, also check out the lobster fest next month and $1.99 variety sunglasses, temporary on special!”
“Wonderful, fresh produce and fruit. Went on Labor Day (had no choice, crowded but moved fast). Artisan breads, knob onions and large bulk red radishes that I’ve never seen elsewhere. I shop in Valpo, but will make it a point to shop here more. There’s room for a Jewels in Valpo by the Starbucks on Calumet. . Would be nice to open a store there. It would be busy for a lot of customers on the N side of town. Thanks??”
“Their deli, and bakery are amazing, the sushi selection is always fresh and it's very good, the fresh fish section where they cook meals of fish, and shrimp is very good too.”
“Had a slight infection and was looking for more all natural medication to help. I found everything I was looking for including natural ear drops, liquid zinc and elderberry, hydrogen peroxide and healthy snacks! The group of girls working were very knowledgeable and helpful. There is a smoothie bar made to order I will definitely be coming back to try! Organic spices and vegan jerky among many other things that caught my eye as-well.”
“When traveling through Indiana this is a great place to stop for gas, bio break, and get food.
When you download the Meijer perks app you do get $$ off of gas too.”
“absolutely a gem in our area. family owned and they are just the sweetest people ever. food has been phenomenal every single time and always prepared super fast. i love shopping in the super market area while waiting the few minutes until they have our food ready. also very affordable. they usually sell crafts as well. just an all around awesome establishment.”
“Great pharmacy, especially pharmacist Mike, and the whole staff, they're absolutely amazing and treat you like they actually care unlike a Walgreens or CVS etc.”
“Very short handed ,but the staff they do have is so Great!!! They are trying to get the place organized and cleaned etc . Shelfs are full . Great Great people and products as well .”
“My personal favorite Dollar General in my town, and there are quite a few. I find a new “must have” every time I’m there. Friendly, helpful employees. FIVE STARS!!”

“I love this Dollar General! The staff are super nice and very helpful. Although, they need more help. The store is usually a mess but it's understandable because there isn't enough people working to put stock away. I always feel like helping them out, stocking shelves and cleaning up. But, all in all, it's a great place filled with many items I can't find elsewhere at Dollar General's. They have a section of organic/natural items that no other Dollar General carries. This is my favorite section! Please, management provide this awesome store with more staff! This can be a spectacular store and a must destination for all shoppers to find those hard-to-find items. The house ware section is a dream! Plus, they are bringing in more knick-knacks to decorate your home with, cool stuff! Go check it out!”
“I have noticed improvements in displays, more products and better organization. Very handy store to have available when you just can't deal with the big box stores!”
“Had to change my review to higher stars because despite the negative employee with the buzzcut glasses and beard, this is not only a 5 star DG, but this is a 5 star shopping store overall. Huge shoutout to Scott, he is beyond helpful and treats every customer with friend-like hospitality. Every employee in there is amazing other than the mentioned negative employee. He’s a bit odd, pessimistic, has a comment for every item everyone buys, he has the store smelling like cigarettes, etc. It’s a terrible experience when it’s his shift. Without him, this DG is great, clean, and has a wide variety of products available to fit everyone’s needs.”
“Jannsen’s is a staple of the community for several reasons. First and foremost, upon arriving in Beverly Shores, either by train or auto, it is what one sees immediately prior to entering the town. As such, people often stop by for some hiking, bird watching, beaching, soft serve (weather permitting), or other supplies of that nature. The Dunes Mart is always aptly stocked and staffed by genuinely nice, yet thoroughly professional, people and I cannot recall a single unpleasant experience while shopping here in well over a decade. Although it would appear Jannsen’s keeps one of nearly everything on their shelves, except for blue pens ?. Other than that this Mart is excellent. And last, but in all honesty the most significant, starting the day with a cup of Sandra C’s regular blend - and one of Henze’s Bakery’s finest - is quite hard to top. Whether you’re from the area, or just passing through, I’d suggest recharging at the Dunes Mart.”
