“Al's has products nobody else has. I will give them that. The stores are always very well maintained, stocked etc. The meat at Al's is second to none in the area, and it's a well known fact. The deli and bakery options of homemade sandwiches such as the gyro sandwich, dips, side dishes dishes loaded baked potato salad, pasta like teriyaki chicken and much more. The downside is that you will be paying for all this extra(ness). And it will not be limited to those items. Seemingly everything in the store is marked up, to the top floor. For example, Dean's 12 pk. of ice cream sandwiches is 6.99. While the 24pk. is 16.99. I'm thinking what am I missing here? First off, the same quality 12pk. of the same item at Walmart is 2.99. But let's say I'm not a Walmart shopper. Isn't more quantity supposed to drop the price? Not nearly triple it? That's not typical, but the highway prices are. If it's worth it that will depend on the individual shopper. I'm still there, so evidently my opinion is yup.”

“I am amazed at the customer service that I received in the store. First of all I'd like to comment on an employee that was working the cash register named Michael, he was incredibly bright and cheerful. He greeted me with a warm welcome and as I was leaving he said goodbye even while he what's taking care of another customer. This is my first time in this store, I live in South Bend and this is one of the best experiences I've ever had in the store. Everything was super clean everything was stocked I can't say that about Kroger's but I really would like to commend the store and all the all stores if they are all the same.”

“Staff was great. Customers were rude. Person ahead me at cooler touched every drink in row despite the pandemic. Customers didn't wear masks, crowded the line, and ignored store directions to social distance. Early morning is best time to go to avoid getting sick.”

“Pharmacy folks are great and take care of my 90 yr old father when he comes in for his prescriptions. They keep an eye on what the doctors prescribe (quite the cocktail) and sanity check the meds. That's worth 5 by itself. Store is generally decent. Produce is good price although there was a fruit fly thing going on at the nectarines. (if they weren't sweet, the fruit flies would not be there so...) Every employees I encountered was friendly, accommodating, and cheerful. There was one young lady I saw three visits out of three who had no name tag, only the Walmart logo on her vest, thus dubbed "Ms. Walmart". She was friendly, helpful, cheerful and a killer smile that makes you smile back.”

“Inside the Meijer, not quite what I think of as a "bakery" but still has quite a selection of baked goods, doughnuts, breads and pies, etc. Many items are imported rather than made on sight, but they still taste good!”

I just can't get over how or why people,just help themselves by opening up packages of underwear and T-shirts,and grab what they want and throw the rest of them on the floor,and they never seem to have my size in stock on anything. This store is always out of stuff. We are talking about the store in Michigan City Indiana.”
