“The best customer service I've had in a long time! Judd and Dave were wonderful! I needed an adapter to go from a sump pump to a garden hose, but my sump pump was an unusual size. They took the time to go thru multiple scenarios to rig this up. In the end, Judd found pieces to work, and then took it further and actually took my pump and the rigged pieces to the back and put them together for me to make sure it all fit properly, Teflon tape included so it wouldn't leak. It was a wonderful experience and I just wanted to put this out there and let Judd and Dave know they are very appreciated! Thank you!”

“Porter Hardware is a hidden (or not so hidden) gem of Des Moines!My husband and I live in Altoona and do a lot of home and yard projects but don’t have the space or money for a slew of specialty items, so I was thrilled to learn we have such a great rental resource just down the road. They offer an unexpectedly vast array of tools, services, and equipment for rent or purchase for almost any kind of home & yard project we could hope to tackle (which so far has included chainsaw maintenance, tree trimming, wood chopping, lawn aerating, bathroom remodels, & pouring concrete pads just to name a few,) and every employee I’ve interacted with at the store or on the phone has been very friendly and helpful. The tools and machines we’ve rented have always been in good condition and the pricing is fair; basically all the amenities of a big box store with the atmosphere of a mom & pop.”

The issue was handled fast and promptly, with a friendly smile. Even asked me afterwards if there was anything else I needed assistance with. Wow, what service in a home improvement store!!
I have been to menards, lowes, and other Home depot's in the west des moines and urbandale area (where I usually shop), and never, never have I received friendly service like I did yesterday. just wow! This was the first time I shopped at this location. So, it was a great first impression.
