“We have a goal to start a small backyard garden this year and came in to get the lumber needed to make 2 4x4 ft raised planter boxes. We were able to order what we needed at the back counter and then went around the building to the self service lumber. We were really confused how to find our items and a little intimidated by the self service saw, but Paco found us and grabbed what we needed on his forklift, then cut the lumber for us. All we had to do was load into our small suv. We tried to leave a cash tip but he wouldn't take it. This was a huge time saver to us when we were in a rush and I am very impressed. Thank you paco!!!”

“I visit here often. Being in the heart of altoona with really friendly staff willing to help at the drop of a hat. Everyone is smiling it's great. Plus they have a good selection of woodworking brands. Seems like they had an answere for all my questions. I definitely would recommend them.”

“I never really like Lowe's compared to Home Depot or Menards. Although there is nothing wrong with this location, it just feels like offer the same items as the other big name stores, but is not as well organized. I would definitely feel better shopping at the other big name stores.”

“There is something about a hometown hardware store. Going here takes me back to my days in college working at the Ace up in Ames. For those on the East end of Altoona, I highly recommend checking out Ace before driving out west. I can be to the store and back to my house with what I need in less than 10 minutes. Also, the Ace Clark and Kensington and Royal paint is some of the best i have used. In our last two houses I have used all the hot new paints, from Behr, to Pratt and Lambert, to Ben Moore, to Valspar, and for the money, I think the Ace paint is top notch.”
