Valley West Mall is a shopping center that has faced challenges due to the rise of online shopping and larger malls nearby. Many store fronts are empty, and the mall has seen a decline in visitors. Despite this, it still features some good stores and places to eat, such as JCPenney and Dairy Queen. The leasing agency is actively working to improve the mall by bringing in new stores, and maintenance staff are helpful and dedicated. The mall is appreciated as a good indoor space for walking and spending time, especially as many malls struggle to recover from the impacts of COVID and changing shopping habits. While it is going downhill, there is hope for a comeback if efforts continue to attract more stores and visitors.
It's sad to see this go. Loved this mall. Still take my grandkids to play. I hate strip malls. Not a fan of them. Liked this one over Merl Hay and Jordan creek. Jordan creek is way over priced. Valley west had more options. ðŸ˜

The only big store is jcpenney ! I go to the salon mostly but occasionally shop ,especially when I have rewards. A lot of the merchants that I frequent there have moved out and other areas in Des Moines.
