“It's like stepping back in time when customers matter. This family owed business knows it's regular customers and their order. They ask about the family or events in their customers life. The owner is in the store 5 days a week. I have spoken to people who have been coming to the store since 1972. This is true community and neighborhoodness that is the reason we love Chalmette. Make this store a regular in your errands, if you like personal service. Some tourists even come to the store because they have heard about it.”

“My first time in this hidden gem and i have to say this is a fabulous little store. I highly recommend trying the food from the restaurant. I do not speak Spanish, but the clerk, Karoll and the lady in the restaurant area were so helpful and patient with me. Karoll explained how to make a recipe I asked her about.I ordered the pollo con tajadas pechuga (fried chicken with plantains, slaw, tomatoes, pickled onions and jalapeños)and pork tamales.The menu is in Spanish, but they translated everything for me.The food was amazing and enough for 2 or 3 people.”
“I rate this location high simply because it's finally found dedicated employees that plan to stick around. At one time they may have been one employee only with long lines and plenty of frustration. Now when I walk in, which is at least 4 times a week, I'm greeted by someone at the register that I'm familiar with and at least two employees working on the floor.

“This place is awesome.
Meat market, deli, and a full restaurant all in one.
We had the daily special: a chicken parm with English peas which blew my socks off and also a cheeseburger poboy. All of it was fantastic.
Also bought some boudin and steaks from the meat market.”
