“We didn't stay at the hotel, but we got food from the store. The chowder was great as was the lobster mac n cheese! Would definitely go there again to eat, loved the peacefulness of the area and quite picnic tables.”

“What an absolutely lovely property. We stayed at the Asticou in June. This was the perfect starting point for us to explore Acadia. We rented bikes from Island Bike Rental and we rode bikes from the hotel into the park. We loved being on that side of the park, separate from a lot of the tourist crowds.
The pool deck and view was just lovely. We had a wonderful dinner at Dahlia's, while pricey, we felt it was absolutely worth it. We also loved talking to all the staff who came from far and wide, truly delightful people. The Asticou upgrade us to a cottage as there was a problem with our room in the main hotel and the cottage was so well decorated and warm, we loved it!
Outstanding communication with the staff, before and during our stay. Just lovely. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!”

“By far our favorite place we stayed while driving up the New England Coast. Sarah and Dax were welcoming and very hospitable. Everything is chosen and placed with intention with no little detail untouched. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a step up in service and to turn your vacation in Maine up a notch.”

“Stayed in the Annex which offers budget accommodations. Good value. Room was satisfactory but not great, hence the budget price. Great location with plenty of parking. Easy walk to main shopping and harbor. Easy drive to Acadia NP or short walk to the shuttle bus stop. Good breakfast.”

“We absolutely loved our stay at the Atlantic. Yes it’s not fancy-the rooms are quite basic and probably could do with a bit of an update but the view is absolutely incredible. You honestly can’t beat it. The room was spotless - great housekeeping team.

The thing we loved the most was the breakfast. It was absolutely delicious. So fresh and healthy! We had a great time and felt so sad to leave”

“The manor is stunning in its beauty, convenient in its location (especially in proximity to Acadia), the staff were very friendly, attentive, and responsive. My wife and I stayed here during our honeymoon and we would highly recommend staying here for any newlyweds.”

“We had an amazing stay! We loved the Inn, the room, the location, but the best part was the above and beyond customer service provided by Christopher at the front office. He gave us so much help with where to go, what to see, got us into busy restaurants, made excellent recommendations about everything we needed to know! We will definitely be back!”

“Stayed here for two nights this past week (Swan’s Chalet). Absolutely loved it. Quick drive into the city, but the grounds have stuff for the family to do, and a couple restaurants nearby with a brewery too! Inside was so clean and well maintained. The cottage felt like it was just built. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.”

“I highly recommend Bar Harbor Inn. My husband and I stayed for three nights and were made to feel welcome throughout our time there. We especially appreciated the gentlemen who were at the door - so friendly! We watched the sunrise at Cadillac Mountain, enjoyed the walkable shops and restaurants, hiked Acadia - rewarded ourselves with popovers at Jordan Pond, walked to the farmer's market on Sunday, took advantage of the spa (Navea is the best!), had the best dinner at Reading Room with an amazing view, and just enjoyed being there in such a beautiful location. Bar Harbor Inn was the perfect place to land at the end of each day. The living room felt like home and created an atmosphere of warmth - games, afternoon cookies, coffee/tea/hot water 24/7, fresh flowers, and someone always available to answer questions about what the area offers. It's a beautiful inn and meticulously maintained, but it's the people that will cause us to return. Each person we met treated us like family and made us feel welcome. It took a bit of effort getting there from Atlanta, Georgia, but it was well worth it.”

“It’s high peak summer so at $500 a night it’s pricey for the style of room
Place was clean but beds were mediocre at best - James the manager was excellent and doing the best with the older hotel here - much of the place has Nick-nacks like free coffee and water, kind bars etc etc - but the awkward room entrance by the reception bathroom and 24/7 open front door to street made it noisy at times - the bathroom was outdated big time and much if the place felt like lipstick on a pig - but I get it, they get 4 months or so to make bank and i don’t blame them - just come with low expectations for the price your paying - good location to town and to the bar island path! Check that out!”

“We really enjoyed our stay at Acacia House! Ralph welcomed us in and gave us great recommendations. We were in Room 8 in the back building and it was spacious and comfortable. Great location, walkable to everything in town. Breakfast (especially the blueberry pancakes) was the best!”

“Great Bed & Breakfast! Cozy 7 room setup with dedicated bathrooms. Climate controls in each room. Nice porch, fire pit, and amenities such as umbrellas, picnic supplies, and much more to enjoy the surrounding area. Easy parking and access upon check in. Quiet. In “The Field” with a few other BnBs, but this one by far is a great choice. Located right behind the Bar Harbor Inn and walking trails right off the Main Street area of downtown Bar Harbor. Food was light and refreshing each day with snacks/drinks available in other times throughout the stay. Will definitely be back!”

“The Inn is located in the perfect spot to walk downtown or to get out and about to other parts of the island by car. The breakfast is plenty tasty and the staff were helpful and polite.”

“Clean spaces. Open spaces inside are clean and comfortable. The lobby has a chalet like feel. Restaurant is quaint . Very clean overall.

Rooms: Clean spacious rooms. Beautiful view on the second floor overlooking Forest Island in Frenchman's bay.

Nearby activities: Shopping and eating at walking distance a small block away.

Safety: Very safe!

Walkability: Short walk to Main street shopping and restaurants.”

“Beautiful and quaint! Megan, the manager is really nice. Rooms are incredibly clean!!! Just a hop-skip from downtown. There's even a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes to take you into town. Parking in downtown is a nightmare. Prices are very reasonable, especially since it's right next to Acadia National Park. We had a very pleasant stay.”

“The location was perfect for the things we wanted to see in bar harbor. Our cottage was very nice, very clean, and pet friendly. The outdoor seating areas were very pleasant. Communication with Hanscom's was excellent. Would definitely stay there again.”

“We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here. It was our first time in Maine and had an incredible time. We weren’t sure what to expect with Southwest Harbor since it seems like the more busy and expensive Bar Harbor had more going on, but are so happy we chose to stay here instead. We were also drawn to it since the Stephen King movie ‘The Storm of the Centhry’ was filmed here.

Our cottage had a beautiful water view and a giant lawn with chairs to sit in and just take in the nature. It was certainly older with small double beds, but in general it was spacious with a living room and full kitchen which was lovely to have. A very affordable for the area.

The town itself is also incredible. We hung out with the owners of Cafe Drydock who were such a fun time, I recommend stopping in there for a meal or a drink. Also check out the other spots on Main Street, everything is awesome. We will absolutely be back and look forward to staying here again!”

“Great hotel! Great location. The room was spacious and clean. Our view was perfect, loved sitting on the balcony at night. The water and coffee station on each floor was nice to have. They also had games available. The dogs in the lobby gave a nice greeting and we also enjoyed the fire. The rooftop pool looked really nice, though we couldn’t enjoy it because of it being adults only. We did not make it to the other resort to check out the family pool. Would definitely stay here again.”

“Excellent service. Rooms were great. Breakfast was good and the Charcuterie boards out all day was a nice touch. Other guests seemed more relaxed and pleasant due to how nice and homey the hotel felt”

“While we didn't stay at the hotel we walked through the lobby to go to the Batson River Fish Camp restaurant that's located on the water behind the hotel. The food was very good. I neglected to take pictures of the food because the view was stunning. However I did get a picture of this sail boat passing by.”

“My partner and I had an early dinner there. We were not staying at the Inn. We sat outside on the patio. We had a wonderful meal. He ordered the sirloin medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. I ordered baked stuffed haddock which had a very flavorful crust and was moist, fresh and tasty. The sides of green beans and roasted potato complimented both dishes very well. The portions were generous. We started with cocktails. Both were delightful. And the garlic crusted bread was soft and warm and plentiful. Our server was a lovely young woman who was attentive and sweet. We were too full for dessert but plan to dine there again soon. The bill came to just over 120.00 which is pricey but worth the money. Highly recommend.”

“Simply spectacular! Amazing views, quiet, VERY clean. Staff is wonderful! We were able to sleep with the windows open, what a treat. Will definitely stay here again!”

“This is a no frills motel. It was very clean, nice staff, and you can get a sack breakfast to go. It was everything we needed. It has a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee. You can walk over to Hadley Campground less than 1/4 mile and catch the Free Explorer bus! CRays and Sweet Pea are both within walking distance ! Would come back.”

“Beautiful views of Bass Bass Harbor, and ocean beyond the harbor. The quiet, expansive lawn, with walking paths through the wild flower field, is very relaxing! ?”

“Front desk would not let us use their outlet to charge our car due to energy costs. Running their 220v AC unit in the room would cost them more, so does not make sense to why cause trouble for people who are on vacation for no cost to them…”

“We stayed three nights in the Ban-y-Byrn room and could not have been happier. Bob, our host, was so friendly and welcoming, and the entire inn has such a relaxing atmosphere. The house and our bedroom were beautiful, with a comfortable bed and an invigorating shower with great water pressure. Breakfast, served by Andy in the bright sunroom, was delicious and made extra special with tablecloths and cloth napkins. In the afternoons, we enjoyed wine and cheese at 5:00, and in the evenings, fresh cookies. Coffee was available around the clock, and the deck with chairs was perfect for relaxing. The inn is in such a perfect spot—just a pleasant 10-minute walk to the shore and the shops—and I really appreciated having the convenience of private off-street parking. On our last day, when we had to leave early, Anne sent us off with a thoughtful take-away breakfast of an egg sandwich, sweet bread, and an apple. Every detail was thoughtful, and the hospitality was outstanding. We highly recommend Anne’s White Columns Inn!”

“Stopped here on an impromptu trip up the coast with no hotel reservation made prior to arrival in late June. The best shower we've had in a hotel in ages and restorative after a day hiking in the park. Room was sparkling clean, modern floors/no rugs, comfortable beds and pillows, with microwave, fridge, great bath products and lovely quiet grounds.”
