“We had an absolutely wonderful stay here in July at the Bungalow with our elderly dog. Carmen was so friendly, helpful, and was a pleasure to speak with at breakfast. The breakfast was incredible and freshly prepared. Loved the convenience of being able to take a bike into town or use a beach pass and borrow chairs for the beaches. The common room was also cozy and great for the evenings when we wanted tea or to socialize with other guests. We throughly enjoyed our stay!”

“This B&B is one of the best I have been to. The historic inn is lovely. The setting is great in that there are several nice restaurants in the small, attractive college town, and it is close to Portland as well as many outdoor recreation areas. The accommodations are comfortable and there is everything you could need. The owner is super friendly and helpful. Her breakfasts are amazing. My husband and I have stayed here at least once a year for the past 10+ years and have never had a complaint. Do not hesitate to book a room.”

“We stayed here on our last night, we wanted an easy drive to the airport because of an early flight. This hotel was great for airport access and the room was huge! It was a little apartment quite comfortable and beautiful views to watch the planes take off and land. It wasn't too noisy either. They had a pretty good restaurant lounge lobby area that was quite enjoyable. I'd stay here again.”

“We had a wonderful stay! The room was super nice, and we loved the outdoor sitting area—it was perfect for relaxing. The location was fantastic, within walking distance to everything we wanted to see and do.
We also enjoyed using the bikes and kayaks, which added to the experience. If you're someone who needs 24-hour front desk assistance, this might not be the place for you, but that didn’t affect us at all. We will definitely stay here again!”

“Very kind people. Beautiful grounds. The rooms are showing their age but everything works and is clean. They have a proposal with Kennebunkport to completely renovate the guest areas. Some annoying neighbor is blocking it in an attempt to extort the Franciscans to sell part of the property. Who the hell extorts priests.”
“After a really bad experience with the grand beach inn. We were able to find this pearl of a place. Quite, comfortable, simply a taste of heaven. Close to the beach, and roads leading to everywhere. Strongly recommended.”
“The rooms are clean and well maintained, and has a mini fridge and microwave too. It is slightly down the road from the pier which keeps it a quiet stay but easy enough to walk 5 minutes or less to the pier. The location is right by the beach, it's a 30 second walk there. Really enjoyed our stay, especially since we booked a jacuzzi room. The tub was large and so relaxing.”
“Rented unit 201, on Airbnb and loved it! In the heart of it all! A bit noisy at night but once I fell asleep I wasn’t woken up. Loved being able to go to Palace Playland with the kids, and the beach, etc and having our room be just a few steps away. Balcony was great and I’d definitely stay here again!”

“We chose this hotel for its proximity to Dock Square. Location is perfect if you want to be walking distance from all the shops and restaurants in town. Room was lovely and the hotel was very quiet. A very short drive (or a good walk) to the beach and Parsons Way. We had zero issues and really enjoyed the stay. I gave 4 stars for the room only because the hanging and dresser space was realllly tiny, no big deal for us as it was a short trip but might be tough if staying longer. We would come back!”

“Rooms: Little small. Tight. No safe. But Ac , tv. Coffee in the room. Water and coffee is available at any time. Mattress could have been more comfortable. And we did not get fresh towels the next day but we did not ask either. Stayed two nights. Over all I would definitely go back. ….No pool which would have been nice on an extended stay but guests can use the pool down the street.

Noteworthy details: Right in the heart of town. Plenty of interesting places to visit and restaurants to try. Car not really necessary unless you want to tour the surrounding areas like we did. beautiful. Free parking. Which is not true at a lot of places.
A nice continental breakfast with fresh blueberry cake and quiche bagels, coffee, tea, water, orange juice, yogurt, cereal oatmeal, muffins. Etc. And a restaurant for dining in the evening if you did not want to go out!

“One night stay visiting Portland from Boston and didn't want to pay for the high price tag of staying in downtown Portland and this convenient stop along the way was perfect. Only 30min from downtown allowed us to save at least $150 and I'm glad we did not stay in sketch downtown Portland, but it was really fun to visit.
Checkin staff was super nice, the room was immaculately clean. Clearly remodeled and everything was spotless. I think this is a great deal and you should book immediately if possible, I went thru booking, no issues whatsoever. Comfy clean bed, spacious, fridge was nice, coffee was perfect, shower worked great and again ultraclean. Felt cleaner than hotel. Don't hesitate, I was weary of older reviews but it's clearly being managed well now!”

“Nice , Quiet. Clean, the woman and guy in the office was so nice and friendly. Very nice for a short stay, no smoking rooms. But your allowed to smoke outside on the balcony which is pretty cool. There is a tv the channels don't work much, but who needs to watch TV when palace Playland is on the corner, the beach is right outside, tons of food, and lots to shop. Oh yeah I forgot to mention the nice bar & grills in that area.”

“We had a beautiful 2 nights mini vacation at this location. The room was spacious and functional, all furniture very comfortable. A good fridge and microwave were included as well as a comfy deep tub. Hairdryer, iron, even a shoe rack were part of the equipment. The heater/ac/thermostat worked great. Nice ambience inside. Rooms very calm, despite proximity to mall, main roads and airport. Staff exceptionally friendly, great continental breakfast selections including in addition yogurt, apples, oranges, fruit water, to American classics (cereal, eggs, waffles, bagels, blueberry muffins etc)

“This was a very nice hotel and convenient to the downtown Portland area – a smooth 10–15-minute drive. Not much dining within walking distance, but lots of places a short drive away. Room was clean and well decorated as were the open spaces. The bar/restaurant must be very popular – it was crowded every time we went by.

“Was a clean and comfortable room but, little things mean a lot, at least in our room. Was disappointed there was no microwave and the refrigerator, although worked was not able to regulate and food froze even when on the bottom part. The tub/shower was slippery as the tub grips were pretty worn off and there was no safety bar in the tub/shower. We did figure the tv out with the help of the desk clerk, but a written tv channel guide would have been helpful. The staff were all very helpful and personable. All in all, it did serve our purpose but for the price of $200.00 + a night, expected more and as I said, little things mean a lot.”
