“Toad Hall is by far the best toy store in Winnipeg. It has a real magician working the magic counter. There are not too many brick and mortar independent magic/toy stores left”

“Tons of cute items leaning into a more alt style. Many of the products are locally sourced. Definitely a good place if you are looking to get MB local items with a twist.”

“In August, 2020x I emailed several second hand bookshops looking for a particular. I didn’t hear back from most of them and gave up as a lost cause.Well this March, the owner, Cathy called me to tel me that book had come in. Apparently she is very passionate about finding books for people. She has everything entered on this incredible document and remembers when people are looking for books, so can pull up their info when/if she comes across it. Just incredible service. Would give 10 stars if I could!”

“Nice to know Hull’s Family Bookstore is still around. It came up in conversation the other day as my older brother once worked at the downtown location. It was a staple of my childhood many great memories and bibles verses memorized.”

“I still make it to red river bookshop once a month or so to browse the used vinyl records and enjoy the experience because I went there when I was a young kid to stock up on comic books for my yearly train trip to bc.A great blast from the past since that was almost 50 years ago!”

“Great little book store with tons of selection! I really appreciate the wide variety of books offered. impossible to walk in without subsequently walking out with a book (or five!). I’m not sure if it’s the owners personality or not but sometimes I do feel like he is indifferent to business and doesn’t always seem particularity interested in helping. Could just be that he’s not a huge talker and that’s ok! With that being said, it doesn’t deter me from visiting because there are not many used bookstores!”

“James may seem like a pretty quiet when you first meet him but once you get to know him he's hilarious. It's pretty entertaining listening to him interact with his regulars. I have been shopping here for a few years now, James has an Impressive knowledge base that's helpful for collectors and he knows where everything is in the store of what he has, so if you don't see something ask him. Would recommend.”

“A serendipitous delight if you get the chance to visit their studios. Ordered a few books through them online as well which were thoughtfully, and carefully packaged. Communication was a touch slow at times but it was worth the wait (please keep in mind they're a small bookstore, NOT Amazon!). Would love to visit again and see all the gems they carry. P.S. Shout-out to Ana for all the help! :)”
