Boesl Packing Co
2322 Belair Rd, BaltimoreThis may seem odd as a representative of K-9 Kraving that I am leaving a review, HOWEVER, I too, am a customer of K-9 Kraving. Currently, I have 3 furr-kids, all rescues, varying breeds, all different ages. Since joining my pack, they have all been fed K-9 Kraving diets. Abbey is the matriarch of our pack. A 14yo Jack-ChiChi mix. For the most part, Abbey has been an easy keeper over the years; trimming her nails and weight management were our greatest challenges until about 1.5 years ago. Out of nowhere, about every 4 months, Abbey's ears and paws would become infected, and transferring to her mouth from licking/scratching. Each visit & pharma treatment at the DVM was leaving me with a $180 - $200 bill. But more frustrating than the cost was not knowing the WHY it was a reoccurring challenge. Chicken, Beef & Veg (or) Chicken & Veg w/ Mackerel were the standards in our house with only K-9 Kraving dried treats for foraging snacks. One day, as I was creating technical posts for our FB page, I personally focused on the benefits of one of our most under-appreciated diets, Rabbit, Duck & Vegetable. This diet has ant-inflammatory qualities and is also low in cholesterol, excellent for senior canines.....DING, DING, DING!!! For Abbey, I made the connection that older dogs have different needs... We made the switch in January 2023. FFW to today, Abbey is the leanest she has ever been, inflammation & infection free for over 4 months (WOO-HOO) and more active than ever! She is actually playing with toys. I couldn't be happier with the difference the RDV diet has made for her. In Abbey's case, the inflammation was triggering licking and scratching, ultimately resulting in infection. With RDV diet those triggers have been neutralized. Thank you K-9 Kraving!IMAGE 1: Chubby and staining on her paws from licking (6 mos ago)IMAGE 2: In action w/ her 8 yo sister (today)IMAGE 3: Feeling goooood! (today)

PetSmart
9921 Pulaski Hwy, BaltimoreWe actually went to two PetSmart stores in one day. The first, Merrit Blvd. didn’t have the dog food we needed (it’s a prescription diet). But the fabulous cashier explained that because they didn’t have a vet on site they couldn’t sell prescription dog food. Totally helpful info. She then gave us perfect directions to the closest PetSmart that sold prescription dog food. We went to the White Marsh PetSmart and were equally impressed with the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. Good job PetSmart.

Petco
3969 Boston St, Baltimore⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I recently brought my pet to Petco for grooming, and Hannah did an amazing job! She was patient, gentle, and very professional from start to finish. My pet came out looking clean, fresh, and beautifully groomed — you could tell she put care into every detail.
Hannah also took the time to listen to what I wanted and made sure my pet was comfortable throughout the process. Her positive attitude and warm personality made the experience even better. I highly recommend Hannah to anyone looking for a groomer who truly loves what she does. We will definitely be coming back! ??

Petco
8640 Pulaski Hwy Suite 104, BaltimoreYou know, it's generally not bad. It feels a bit cluttered when they have stock sitting out blocking aisles, but it isn't a disorganized mess. People actually ask if you need help and seel to know what they are talking about. Register people are generally friendly. Overall, it was a good experience.
What prohibits 5 stars is the same thing I see at so many chain pet shops: fish tank issues. I can't buy fish here. They do offer some sort of guarantee, I believe, but check with the team to be sure. Also, never buy a fish from a tank with a dead fish in it.
Live pets are getting pricey, but I don't believe that's the retailer's fault.

Hair Off The Dog Grooming Salon & Spa
6200 Holabird Ave, BaltimoreI am completely in shock with how awesome this place is! My 9 year old pittie is very dramatic when getting her nails trimmed and was causing it to be hard to get grooming appointments anywhere. Gail and her team took her in and she apparently didn’t even make a peep while she got a bath and nail trim. We have found our new groomer & are so grateful to have found them!

We loved learning about the quarantine period, how animals are cared for, and the rescue operations. Our guide was very informative and engaging - big kudos to Andy! The 90 minute tour covered so much information and we were so happy to have paid the extra fee to visit this center. Highly recommend! (FYI they have a small parking lot that they let you use free of charge during the tour with entry 30 minutes before).

Doc·Side Veterinary Medical Center
1705 Bank St, BaltimoreIt’s always nerve wracking choosing the right vet, so I feel very lucky that I found Doc Side when I moved to the city. I have had nothing but positive experiences with them and am continually grateful for the care and support they show my precious pets. I’ve been to Doc Side for all sorts of things now— check ups, illnesses, an emergency visit, even anal gland expression on a cat (yikes!). They have always handled our appointments with grace, patience, creativity, and compassion.
I will admit they are a tad pricier than some other options, but not by much, and you get what you pay for. There have been a few times where I’ve called for guidance which they provided on the phone without urging me to come in for appointment. They have also matched a competitor’s medication price for me.
We’ve seen Dr. Tierney, Dr. Coughlin, and Dr. Peterson and have always been impressed by their quality of care. Additionally, the vet techs and support staff have consistently been phenomenal. I get anxiety over my cat’s health, and the staff do just as much for me as they do for them! You are in excellent hands with DocSide.

Denise Willis Dog Training
BaltimoreI adopted a teenage puppy who had lots of leash reactivity and lots of pulling. Denise was the 2nd trainer we worked with and since working with Denise, he's made huge progress! He would lunge and bark at everything from a cart to a recycle bin to a tall branch hanging over the fence. After determining the right tool that worked for me and him, and working through some of my own anxieties with him, I feel more confident walking him and he is much easier to handle. Me and him still have work to do, (practice makes perfect!) but I feel like I can breath when I take him out of my house and I no longer worry about the big feelings and reactivity that he had towards any and everything. Thanks to Denise, my teenage puppy might just make it to his humans sports events one day!

She was so patient and great at explaining things, and empowering us to be effective and consistent trainers of our own dog. Plus added bonus, everyone was spaced out and outside with masks on, so it felt very safe in the midst of the pandemic. We're so grateful!

Café Dear Leon
2929 O'Donnell St, BaltimoreI recently read an article that said the best bakery in Maryland is Ovenbird. They are wrong. IT IS THIS PLACE. Fantastic bakery -- the croissants are fabulous. If I had to critique the place it would be they need a 2nd barista, or a cheap intercom system. The tiny place only holds 6 people (and a dog!) and 5 of those are standing around waiting for their coffee.

Canton Dog Park
3201 Toone St, BaltimoreI was on a long drive with two dogs, one of whom will not potty on leash. We found a dog park slightly south of Baltimore, but one side had overly friendly dogs and one side had a Very Unfriendly dog, so we had to move on. I had not been to the Canton Dog Park before, but found it quite easily and there was ample parking available. The "small/senior" dog side was empty, so we went in and stayed for probably 20 minutes playing and enjoying the freedom outside of the car. The humans on the other side were friendly and helpful, pointing out that we could run to the pub across the street for human facilities, too. I love to see this area being built up and turned into a well-lit, friendly neighborhood.
