βMy local Whole Foods Market is a smaller version but they do a great job of staying current on items their customers are looking for. I shop here for Tessamae's salad dressing, generous, well priced cuts of Jarlsberg cheese, my favorite but obscure coconut yogurt and every flavor of kombucha.β

βOne thing for sure is that military life has some drawbacks, but from time to time you come across some pretty awesome benefits, and access to exchanges and commissaries is definitely one of them.
Whenever I'm up in the Northern Virginia area near the five-sided building with five rings and need to stock up on supplies, I find that the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Commissary is quite a bit more affordable than the local Harris Teeter. While it may not be as massive as some of the larger commissaries around the country, it's certainly not small either, and it's very well stocked across the board with most of the groceries and household items you might need.
On this particular visit, I picked up a few essentials along with some grapes and a little cheese. I also made a stop by the hot bar, where I grabbed some rib pieces and barbecue wings. Everything was fresh, and it made for a great meal to enjoy outside on a beautiful day with the weather cooperating perfectly.
One of the things I appreciate most about this commissary is how easy it is to get in, find what you need, and get back on your way. The selection is solid, the prices are competitive, and the store is generally well maintained. Whether you're doing a full grocery run or just grabbing a few items, it gets the job done without any hassle.
If you're in the military, eligible to shop there, and happen to be in the area, it's definitely worth stopping by when you need groceries. The savings can add up, and it's one of those benefits that reminds you there are still a few perks that come along with military life.β
βVery good small supermarket, with fresh produce and lots of Latin American products. The papaya there was the best Iβve ever had in DC. Letβs support these small stores that make DC streets more interesting!β
βInside of the Brazilian supermarket is a little cafe where you can buy pastries both salty and sweet as well as coffee and other drinks!
We asked for the pastel de queso and it was DELICIOUS!β

Great store. The fruit is always fresh and somehow tastes sweeter and better than at other places.
I especially like the juice, meat and sausage selection, and dairy products here. Iβm also a big fan of their organic pomegranate juice, it tastes fresh and very natural, with no added sugar.
I recently discovered that the market also has a kebab house where they cook food fresh on the spot. The food is delicious, with plenty of options to choose from.
Highly recommended!β

βI have been coming to this store ever since it opened back in 2016. It's always a pleasure to shop here. Their pricing is very good on just about everything I need and way better than the other grocery stores around here. Having an Aldi's nearby is a good deal. The food quality is very good too! βEach Peach is such a cute find. Definitely pricey, but a great spot for good quality produce, dairy, and extra things such as olive oil, spices, specialty chocolates, coffee, etc. Staff is also super friendly and helpful!β

βBolling Commissary is always a clean, well-kept spot that has all your basic grocery needs. I used to shop here regularly when I lived closer because it was quiet, organized, and always stocked.
That said, this review is all about the sushi inside the Commissaryβand let me just say, itβs hands down the BEST sushi Iβve ever had. Iβve traveled all over the world, including Japan, and this sushi is truly a hidden gem. Itβs always fresh, always delicious, and never disappoints.
My go-to is the chicken teriyaki roll, but I also love the shrimp tempura roll. Honestly, I could eat it every single day. I highly recommend it to anyone in the areaβdefinitely give it a try!β
βVery good customer service and a good variety of healthy food choices. It’s a little more expensive than I would like, but no different from what I have paid at other Whole Foods, and I think I get what I pay for. Over the last 5 years I’ve gone to this store once or twice per month. But I am now adding a stop at their salad bar at least once per week as my exercise route takes me right past it. So much better than running to McDonald’s and back (guilty). Cold salad bar is excellent with wide variety, olive bar is definitely good, hot foods are hit and miss.β

βThe best Brazilian market in the DMC area. There's a variety of products and the prices are incredible! You also can find delicious salgados such as coxinhas, pΓ£o de queijo, pastel etc to eat in the store and have a break before going home.If you're Brazilian, you're gonna love it and kill some of the saudade from home.If you're not Brazilian but are curious about our food, I definitely recommend going to By Brazil and try some of the salgados on the counter ;)β
βMoroccan Market really feels like home. You can find real Moroccan products, good spices, and familiar flavors that remind me of Morocco. the quality is great, and the people are very welcoming. Iβm happy to have a place like this nearby. Highly recommend.β

βEverything you need. There wasn't any organic produce, but the selection is sufficient for most needs. Most common cuts of beef are available but they are very thin cuts. No grass fed options available.β
βAlways ask for Heidi at the deli counter. She is a sweetheart and very helpful. Currently the store is having AC issues (July 2026) but there are stand-alone floor AC units throughout the store. The only problem I have here is that sometimes the aisles are congested when employees or vendors are stocking shelves. I would also like to see the pharmacy open sooner than what they currently do.β

βI had an excellent customer service experience with Terron. After waiting in a long line, he greeted me with a smile and was overall very pleasant. Because of this, I felt comfortable enough to ask him about an item which was not stocked on the shelf and which was the primary reason for my visit. He told me he knows it is in stock and if I would like for him to grab it for me. Needless to say, I was taken aback by this above and beyond offer and quickly agreed only if it would not create trouble for him. He finished ringing up my items, disappeared for all of 30 seconds and was back with options of the requested item for me to choose from. The customer behind me wanted the item, too, and was happy to get one as well.
Hire more people like Terron. He is exemplary!β

βQuaint Hispanic Grocery store located in a nice residential neighborhood. This location offers a good variety of spices and other foodstuff needed for authentic dishes. They didn't have everything we needed but it's a great small business to patronize nonetheless.
This store is best visited by public transit or by foot since there is limited street parking.β

βThe staff are always super friendly and efficient here. The new female security guard is really on top of things. Someone was going to walk in who clearly wasn't set on paying and she nipped it in the bud. She also greets customers as they enter and leave. Really welcoming vibe.β

βThis Trader Joe's is large, well stocked, and spotlessly clean. I saw several workers thoroughly enjoying themselves, humming along to the music in the store. Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. I was only shopping for a few things, but it was such a pleasant store experience. Best TJ's I've been to, and I'd definitely stop by again if in the area!β
