Pet Care

Hickory Ridge Animal Hospital
10328 Owen Brown Rd, Columbia?Review is based on first time experience
? Small local vet I can get to within 5 minutes! I believe they unfortunately only have 2 (?) rooms per patient. So this means wait time here might be a bit longer than normal if not busy. Yet, it’s pretty cozy and homey.
? Everyone seems pretty friendly and they are very patient with my cats skittish nature.
?I haven’t had issues yet with them!

Paws Up Veterinary
6000 Merriweather Dr Suite #B107, Columbia⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m so thankful we found Dr. Cujdik and his amazing team! His facility is absolutely beautiful and one of the nicest veterinary offices I’ve ever seen. My pups are usually very scared of the vet, but Dr. Cujdik, Joey, and Sara were so gentle, patient, and loving with them. They took their time to make my dogs feel safe and comfortable, and by the end of the visit, my babies were completely relaxed. That alone meant everything to me. Dr. Cujdik was thorough, kind, and incredibly compassionate. He praised the care I’ve given my dogs and shared difficult news in such a gentle and thoughtful way. I truly appreciated his professionalism and heart. Joey and Sara loved on my pups the entire visit, and you could feel how much they genuinely care. We are so grateful for this experience and have definitely found our forever vet. Thank you all for taking such wonderful care of my fur babies! ?? *Facebook isn’t allowing me to post a picture! Whomp!

Animal Dental Center
8890 Centre Park Dr #100, ColumbiaDr. Melinda Spaar was truly wonderful. From the moment we met her, it was clear how deeply she cares—not just about her patients, but about the families who love them. She treated our beloved Chico with such genuine empathy, kindness, and respect. Her communication was open, clear, and heartfelt, and we felt truly heard and supported throughout the entire process—something we hadn’t experienced with our primary veterinarian.
The consultation report she provided was incredibly thorough and thoughtfully written, reflecting the time and care she puts into her work. Most importantly, we never felt like just another appointment on the schedule—we felt seen, understood, and cared for. I highly recommend this practice.

VCA Lewis Animal Hospital
10665 MD-108, ColumbiaI took my newly adopted kitty here for her post adoption wellness exam. The overall experience was wonderful. The facility is clean, bright, and comfortable. Check-in was seamless, and the checkup went very well. Everyone here is super friendly and helpful. Dr. Wenzel took time to answer all my questions and offered a lot of great info/care tips. Would love to keep going here for primary care for my girl, but it is a great deal of a distance from where I live ? and wish they were closer. I will definitely keep this place in mind as an alternative.

Pet Sitting & Training

Club Pooch
9147 Red Branch Rd # G, ColumbiaJust dropped off my dog for an evaluation for the doggy daycare and the team did an amazing job reassuring me that everything would be okay! They even met me outside and took my dog inside for me as I spoke with someone else about how the day goes and giving me a tour. They answered all my questions before I signed the paperwork and still reassured me throughout the process how skill ed their employees are to care for the dogs, including how to read the body language of the dogs before anything bad could happen. So I’ve been told, the worst thing that could happen, is a few scratches from typical playing. Their intake process went very smooth and professional. It definitely made me feel comfortable leaving my dog there without me (mind you, my dog is my 1st dog and he’s only 9 months old right now).

Wagging Lounge Dog Resort
9315 Snowden River Pkwy M, ColumbiaI have a female Siberian husky (Lukin)… some of you may have heard her reenacting a scene from “Balto” as I pull up to Wagging Lounge… I am the lady who takes ear plugs out in the parking lot…. Our baby wolf LOVES Wagging Lounge (as I have alluded to above). I also LOVE Wagging Lounge! It’s so incredibly nice to know that my “ride or die” is somewhere I truly trust and know will take the absolute best care of her. There is a reason Wagging Lounge is “best of Howard County” every year since… 2018 or so. The staff is amazing to the fur kids and their humans. The facility is always clean, has indoor and outdoor space, also has AC!! You cannot go wrong with WL. Don’t even bother checking anywhere else! The staff makes Thanksgiving dinner for dogs who are boarding over the holiday… what else do you need to know?!

Pups Dog Obedience Training
9050 Red Branch Rd, ColumbiaWe love PUPS Dog Obedience Training. We have a high-drive, working Labrador retriever named Mason who has gone through the puppy course, 8-week obedience course, rally courses, and competitive obedience training with Karen and Kristin. They have always been there for us every step of the way through success at his first trial, and the many challenges that come with training a dominant, high-drive dog. I daresay that Mason would be a VERY different dog if not for our training with PUPS (and not in a good way).
For the last few years, we have also boarded Mason with PUPS when we are away. As stated previously, Mason is a high-drive, dominant dog. Karen and Kristin are about the only people we trust to keep Mason safe, stimulated, and healthy when we are out of town. PUPS boarding is unique in that they do not let dogs run/play together in a big room, unlike many other kennels in the area. Kristin provides many long walks for the dogs that are staying, plays with them individually, and they even have a dog treadmill used for some dogs if it is too hot to exercise/walk outside. PUPS also communicates very well throughout your dog's stay and administers any sort of medication your dog needs. Kristin has even taken our dog to the vet in the past in an emergency situation.
Mason is 11 years old, and we will continue to lean on PUPS as long as we have training/boarding needs. When the time comes (hopefully not too soon), we'll use PUPS for any future dogs we have as well. Karen and Kristin are truly the best! I cannot recommend or review them highly enough.

DMV Taqueria
Banneker Building, Near, ColumbiaBirria tacos. Unreal. Usually I stay away from them because it feels like they're the trendy thing to order and most places they're not seasoned great. Great seasoning and flavor here. Both the green and red salsas are delicious too. The service was super helpful with recommendations and also very quick. 5 minute turn around. It's a taco truck so I was happy they had picnic tables with umbrellas and even trash cans. Not trashy around and tables were good wood. Must try.

Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken - Columbia
8872 McGaw Rd Suite D, ColumbiaAdding detail to previous review: The chicken is a good portion, but not so thick that you are unhinging your jaw to bite it. The breaded seasoning is tasty, 2 full strips of bacon, and I like both the biscuit and brioche bun. But the biscuit is heavy, def need an appetite to finish the whole thing. Rise is take out only. Kiosk ordering system. The cheese grits are also worth a try.

Dok Khao COLUMBIA
6000 Merriweather Dr Suite B155, ColumbiaMy bestie and I came here on a beautiful Sunny Sunday afternoon to catch up. I recommendEd this place because she is vegan and I am vegetarian among other "arians" so it was a win for both of us. we start out with the tofu wings which were really tofu sticks with peanut chili sauce. I love these tofu sticks but they could have been a bit more crunchy since I like crunchy tofu. my main entree was red curry dish with vegetables, white rice and tofu. Delicioso! but I wish it was a larger portion because I'm greedy like that. Funny thing is we ate around 3pm and I went home and had a pie of fruit for the rest of the evening and didn't eat anything else. so I guess my portion was just enough! We finished with desert, the fried banana with coconut ice cream and shared the mango rice with ice cream. The fried banana was yummy and sweet but the oil they fried it in didn't sit well with my stomach. Overall the food was good so I give it a 8/10. The server was nice and sweet and she took our photos so she got a 10/10. The soft drinks were not refillable so just be mindful of that. I will be back to try more items and a cocktail and mocktail!!!

The Food Market
10480 Little Patuxent Pkwy G150, ColumbiaGreat restaurant, nice atmosphere and excellent service. The relatives we were with just happened to know the owner and so our service was outstanding. The food was phenomenal and it was hard to decide what to order. I ended up ordering the crab cake sundae. It was a bowl of Maryland Crab Soup with a few spoonfuls of cream of crab soup, a small crab cake and a crab claw. It was fantastic and I've not seen that type of appetizer on other menus. Then I opted for the burger which was huge with cheese, crumpled bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion. I opted not to get the steak sauce. My burger was cooked to my preferred temperature and it was huge and delicious. It came with fresh cut french fries, which were also very tasty. The burger itself was flavorful, not at all salty as noted in another review and just perfect.
They have an indoor area, and an outdoor area. We sat inside, but could have easily enjoyed the outdoor area and will try that another time.
I can't wait to come back and I highly recommend.
