“Dropped off our wedding invitations here and had a good experience. The postal worker confirmed we had the right stamps and got them mailed quickly, even after dealing with a difficult customer right before us. Appreciated their professionalism and help!”

“I got a PO box here because of the great reviews and was not disappointed. There are closer post offices to me but this one is worth the few extra minutes' drive. The staff are so friendly, I feel like I'm a welcome regular at a local café when I visit. I also had a great experience applying for a passport here; they are really knowledgeable, helpful, and efficient. Highly recommend this branch, and many thanks to the staff for making my visits there feel so much less like a chore.”

“The Burtonsville Office processes passport applications and rush them to the Passport Office.

There is an array of packing materials for sale, which include bubble wrap, clear tape, decorative padded envelopes, priority tape and boxes, and plain boxes and envelopes. I like the clear tape the best. The brown tape didn't stay in place very long.

I enjoy looking at their book of forever stamps. The staff are friendly and attend to customers' needs.”

“This is the best post office in the area. They have two pick ups every day that they don't list on their schedule. The mail goes quickly to the regional distribution center, so is where it needs to be quickly. They don't have passport services at this location. There is a small but thorough supply wall in case you need some postal supplies.”

“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Kay for her incredible patience and kindness. Being new to a specific mail procedure, I arrived at the office with a stack of envelopes and a lot of questions. Kay took the time to guide me step-by-step, ensuring I understood how to fill them out correctly. Her pleasant demeanor, great conversational skills, and willingness to go above and beyond truly made my experience exceptional. I couldn't have asked for a better person to assist me—thank you, Kay!”

“Only good post office in the area. The experience is just neutral but that's good enough to bring me almost to tears compared to the other horror show post office in the area (Gallatin)”

“Amazing customer service. There was an error on a package address I had shipped from Europe, so USPS marked it as return to sender. I went to the office, explained what happened, and they redelivered it after hours! Thank you, Mr. Wright!! God bless you, and God bless the USPS!”

“God do I miss when this place was 24 hours (current hours below)!!! Wonky, little-known aspect of DC culture, but it was a fantastic convenience that let you shift a key errand til the wee hours with no lines in a fairly elegant setting. Ok, maybe it's not the Ritz, but it beat the loud, cramped options elsewhere. Even though it's no longer open around the clock, it still offers better hours and more competent staff than any other post office I've ever been to. Glad they're still around.

As of May 27, 2025, hours as follows:

Monday - Friday: 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Sundays/Holidays: CLOSED”

“This is a federal building. No packages are allowed to enter without Govt ID. Regular Post Office business is allowed by public, ie stamps, envelopes and passports”

“While I very much like the USPS employee that is typically at the window. She's extremely friendly and helpful. I have a major complaint with the fact that regardless of which Saturday I go, the door is never unlocked despite both the door and website displaying these supposed PO Box Access hours of 10AM - 2PM. I arrived at 1155 this morning and the same foolishness. Its extremely frustrating and it's professonial. Do beeter USPS!”

“The mail service is mostly ok, but if I get more than one piece of mail in my box it's all crammed in... like folded..bent... crammed in the mailbox. There's no excuse for that!”

“I like this post office. The lady who works there is very nice, I have never had any mail lost and there is seldom a long line. I also like the selection of greeting cards that they have for sale. I noticed several negative reviews and I felt that I had to add a positive one because my experience here has always been positive. I hope yours will be too. Thanks.”

“The Longworth House Office Building Post Office is quite simply the best US Post Office I have encountered anywhere. The lines move quickly, the staff is friendly and they always have an abundance of stamps and mailing supplies. Mail is dispatched in the morning and after 4:00 p,m, in the afternoon. Staff will provide a special manual cancellation if you ask for it. The post office is located in the basement of the Longworth Building, but is open to the public. You will have to go through security upon entering the Capitol complex. It is easily reached by tunnel from the Cannon and Rayburn buildings.”

“La Vonya is an absolute joy and light in this world, we must protect her at all costs. I didn’t know my butt from my elbow when I came in but she got me right as rain and then I was on my merry way, happier to have met her and the amazing service she provided!!! Promote La Vonya!!!”

“I had an incredible experience with this post office last weekend that I want to share. I had called the customer line because a package's tracking information had been marked as delivered the day before, but they the status reverted to distribution center that morning. I was told that it is a system issue that packages get marked as delivered and the current status was correct, but she was unable to tell me why it was sitting at the distribution center (Takoma Park post office) and not out for delivery, so she put in a claim ticket. About 15 minutes later I got a call on my cell phone and it was the supervisor at that location, Ms. Foxx, asking if I had received my package. I told her that I had not and then she had Ms. Lee check in the packages on site and they located my package. This was 4:45 p.m. on a Saturday, so it was apparent it wasn't being delivered that day and it was a gift for father's day the next day. I asked if I could pick it up and was told that I could, if I got there in the next 15 minutes before they locked the back loading door and left. I made it and they both helped me load the large, heavy box into my car and absolutely made my day/week/year. The company that I purchased the gift from through Amazon had decided to ship via the slowest and cheapest means, so I couldn't blame the postal service for the package having not arrived, but the level of customer service to call me directly and then help find a solution was beyond my wildest expectations. Please do give the overworked staff at this location a break when you are frustrated with the long lines, as my experience there has been that they are always professional and do their job very well, even when they don't have a second to catch their breath in between customers.”

“I can’t speak for other people, but my first time coming to this Post Office was a very very positive experience. The two workers were very friendly. My experience with most Post Office is that the workers are usually dismissive and or highly negative good experience here and wasn’t crowded.”

“As a personal vister of this fine establishment, the man who works there always is kind and courteous towards the costumer so please tip him 5 dollars when you go. Much Thanks!”

“This is the best post office I've been to. The regular woman who works there is great. I'm pissed today because my package was refused due to using FedEx packaging. I mean, really, who cares, so I had to cover up everything fedex and them take it back. Never have this problem with the regular person, but always with new people. 2 more things: 1) this location has always closed at 5, not 5:30 and 2) this place is a mess because of the nasty people that go in there and throw their trash everywhere but the trash can. I see strips pulled off of letters on the floor, boxes left etc etc and it's no one but these trashy customers who would never just toss their trash on there own floor. Or would they. How about we police ourselves”

“My experience with USPS was terrible and so upsetting until I stopped by and tried this one. I lived in Laurel for 10 years and when the three locations were open we were so poorly treated that I had to drive to another place (Savage, Burtonsville). I moved to Brentwood this August and went to this location and was treated so well, with so respect and Kimberly did all she could to help me and my disabled husband. 10 stars to her and to Andrew who also works there. 10 starts!!! I am very very please! Thank you!!!!”

“You're probably thinking four out of five star post office this has got to be great. No this is comparing post offices to post offices. If you're going into a post office you know you're going to get long lines and bored civil servants just trying to fill out their 20 years to get their pension. So the post office is pretty much a post office. The one star was taken off for the weird parking.”

“The staff are always so friendly and respectful. It's a pleasure to visit this Post Office and I'm so grateful that it's my local one. There's never a long wait. Best USPS experience ever!”
