“First, full transparency...I haven't gone for pet grooming at this location since I've had a short haired dog and my Yorkie was always just a lil too fancy (or amy nerves too bad) for a place where we couldn't confirm her technician in advance. The staff can be a little difficult to find, but once you do, they are always helpful and friendly... I think if I worked around puppies all day I would be too. Over the years (this store has been around for a long while), I've come in with some "odd" requests but the staff has always responded without batting an eye... This review is one where I wish for half points... because I'm really torn between 3 and 4... I went with 4 because the store is 1) well stocked 2) clean 3) has training and 4) the staff make sure the lines aren't too long.”

“I finally have the offleash dog that I've always dreamed of! Brad did a great job training Zamboni, and everyone at the school are so wonderful and kind. They always treat Zamboni (and me) super special whenever we come into the store to visit. Highly recommend Brad and the training team here if you want a dog who can play in open spaces without fear that they'll run into traffic or run off too far to get back. I was highly skeptical that my dog could be trusted off leash - but now we practice everyday and I have no anxiety whatsoever anymore!”

“This is a really good place for self-service dog wash. They have 6 tubs in the self-service wash area, and they can accommodate really large dogs. They provide shampoo, towels, dryers, washing and deshedding brushes, ear cleaner, and doggy cologne. They also have full service grooming rooms, but I have never used that service. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because of the staff. Some staff are super polite and professional, and others lack customer service skills completely.”

“Our super picky husky, Ava, absolutely loves going to visit Cherie at The Dog Park in Old Town, Alexandria. Cherie’s patience is unmatched! Our pup is definitely high maintenance, and gets Cherie’s undivided time and attention during every visit. She has worked with Ava for months to make her more comfortable with nail trims and baths. We love the special bond they've developed and couldn’t be happier with the amazing progress Cherie has made to get Ava to the point of not being nervous at all for grooming. “Love them! Going there for over 3 years. There is a little nice dog in the front named Leo meet and greet you when you walk in. Tons of fun toys and goodies for your pup. Unlike other places, they don’t put your dog in a crate after they finish their grooming, which is really important to me! They are very fast, I live in dc and I referred them to two of my neighbors and now we all drive to VA from DC for our doggie grooming sessions!”

“They're a smaller version of petco, so the selection isn't as great, still impressive given the size. They stock taste of the wild pacific stream - puppy (and the regular), which is the only dry food I can find that is specifically for puppies and doesn't contain chicken (my puppy is allergic). It's the only place around I know that stocks it. They didn't used to. They were touting a dog food program when I casually mentioned my puppy's needs as I declined and a few weeks later it was mysteriously stocked. I don't know if the events are connected, I do know it's convenient to have a physical place to buy chicken-free healthy puppy food without too many additives. Especially now that my puppy is larger and eats so much.They also carry frozen dog meals that don't contain chicken, which is surprisingly difficult to find. Their canned selection is more limited than I'd like; my puppy won't eat the same protein two days in a row and won't eat pate. However, they stock her two favorite Merrick flavors so I can get through the week if I can't get to a bigger shop for a few cans of Arcana or something.There's always a good selection on the clearance rack. The self wash always looks clean and in good repair, though I've never used it. The employees are always helpful and knowledgeable. Management must be doing a great job.”

“They have a large selection of food, treats, toys and accessories (mostly for dogs). It is the only full "pet store" in our walking radius, so definitely fills a market gap. I do feel the staff could be more helpful and knowledgeable about their products especially treats and foods. One of the things I look for when shopping in person is real time help and recommendations, and unfortunately on both occasions I have experienced a reluctance for basic questions. They did allow me to try on the harness I selected to see if it did fit. My dog and I will continue to go back as it's nice to be able to stop in somewhere with him and gage what will work best.”

I have not experienced their grooming services because my doggie human is not allowed, so I can not speak on that other than to say, there is always a nice steady flow of customers in that section.”
