Pet Grooming

A-1 Caring Dog Grooming
354 Main St, ReisterstownMy dogs are in their golden years (17 & 15), so they require especially gentle care. The proprietor was so good to them that when I returned to pick up my pups, I found them relaxing in their crate together after their grooming session. I was informed they had even been napping while they waited for me, a sure sign of comfort.
My 15 year old has a big dose of Jack Russell Terrier in her, so holding still for nail trims has never been easy. She received one of the best trims she has ever had at A-1, ensuring that I will certainly return for future appointments.

Pet Care

Mountainside Veterinary Hospital
42 Westminster Pike, ReisterstownAs a teen, brought my family's pets to visits, and now bringing my own pets to visits as an adult. Have always encountered excellent care, and the staff/doctors are all friendly, helpful and honest with you. I actually have closer vet clinics to my current residence, but I have had such a positive experience at this clinic, I can't imagine going somewhere else. Also, when my family cat died, I was really heartbroken. I remember getting a sweet card from Dr. Murray and it meant a lot. To me, this speaks to how much they care.

TLC For Pets
11809 Reisterstown Rd, ReisterstownI just lost my precious dachshund, Rusty. I have to talk of my experience at TLC. Dr. Lucas and I worked together when Rusty was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and later, kidney disease. We walked a tightrope, as Dr. Lucas described it, making medical decisions for both conditions. The heart condition alone usually has a year or less life expectancy. Rusty went on to 1 year and 8 months for me and my baby. In addition, the ladies loved on him sometimes calling him the Rust Man :) I even ended up going to a Vet ER before TLC opened, due to a breathing issue which can occur with the heart condition, and one of these wonderful ladies came and sat with me for several hours when she found out and got off work. I can't begin to describe the wonderful love shown to my boy at TLC. When he passed, there were tears from all, and Dr. Lucas called from his vacation to express his condolences. You will never go wrong bringing your sweet baby to TLC for Pets.

Pet Sitting & Training

Wilde Acres
6225 Glen Falls Rd, ReisterstownWhen I first adopted my mastiff mix (Cane Corso, Presa Canario, Bullmastiff, etc.) in late 2023, I struggled to maintain consistency with obedience training and also reactivity issues. I found Wilde Acres in my search for dog trainers, and I decided to go with them because: Carter and his team have extensive and evidenced knowledge in canine behavior and training methods, the numerous training classes and programs offered, and the land they have for training (~7 acres). Since working with them, I have seen them retain many of the same trainers, which speaks to a positive working environment, and also grow their program to training specialties, such as scent. Below is my personal training journey with Wilde Acres, as well: I first started my training at Wilde Acres through individual lessons with Carter. Carter took the time to watch my dog's behavior and also get to know me as her handler, in order to give me the best advice for training her. He was realistic and honest with his advice, and he provided helpful and valuable ways to motivate my dog and maintain consistency. After a few lessons, I felt the board & train package would be good for her in order to instill training through the repetition that's provided with board & train programs. I was moving at the time of her training, so she went for five weeks (usually four). After her training, I noticed a massive and positive shift in her behavior. I tell people it's like she was permanently put on Xanax. She was so much calmer! She seemed much more comfortable on our walks, she no longer pulled me on the leash, she followed the leash and my commands, and her reactivity diminished significantly. She does still have reactivity every now and then, but it's much less, and it's easy to anticipate as her handler. Please note I did change some aspects of my lifestyle, such as moving to a bigger place that was less crowded, and she had less exposure to busy areas. But her training would have still been required to have her more under control. After her training, I still called Wilde Acres every now and then to discuss any behavioral issues or if I had any questions. I just sent her for a second board & train, not because she needed it, but due to a busy schedule I had on a large project at work, and I needed a safe place for her with experienced handlers. The team at Wilde Acres welcomed her back so warmly. She had such a great time at her second retreat. All of the trainers had so much fun with her at Wilde Acres, and she responded greatly to their training methods and handling. We're going back today for a follow-up lesson, as well, and we look forward to coming back in the future!

Reisterstown Pet Resort & Spa
14454 Old Hanover Rd, ReisterstownBoarded my dogs here recently. I love the process of them coming to you while you sit in your car. You just call the # and they come pick up or drop off your pet. Our drop off was a little chaotic because there was a torrential downpour. The young lady had to run back and forth with forms for us to fill out ( although we had previously filled them online). Then to grab our food ( or they feed your dogs their selection at no additional cost). Then to grab our pets ( husky and a German Shepherd). She handled both dogs well. We'd ask for grooming but that got didn't get put on the file in all the chaos (a little disappointed). Everyone was kind, professional. Other than that, the whole process was smooth. I do love the dogs obstacle courses and pool. I do appreciate that dogs are not kept in cages all day but actually go out and run and swim. My dogs looked happy And taken care of. I would definitely use them again. I believe they give a discount for first time boarders.

The Cow
201 Main St, ReisterstownWe hired The Cow Truck for an event we hosted on Sunday and were so pleased with the delicious treats that the truck provided as well as the great service! Our guests raved about the ice cream and ice - and loved having so many options to pick from and many enjoyed a second serving. It was a breeze working with Sandy to get everything set-up. We highly recommend hiring The Cow for your next event!

Reter's Crab House and Grille
509 Main St, ReisterstownCame here for happy hour thinking it would be a joke. Imagine having tacos at a seafood spot. Reter's has a great happy hour menu. At 6$ the chicken tacos come with one of the best restaurant salsas. I should have got 2 orders. 1 lb of steamed shrimp which was very tender. The crab pretzel comes in next at 15$ looked pretty fancy laced with a thick cheesy crab dip. Chicken tenders were pretty good but I could tell they fry them in the same grease as the seafood. Our waiter was Kelly. She was extremely nice, patient, and fast. She hooked up my son's cheesecake with whip cream and strawberries. Delicious. I'm absolutely coming back. This experience was excellent.

Szechuan Wok
11714E Reisterstown Rd, ReisterstownWell, I am generally not a fan of Chinese food; however, my folks wanted to order Chinese and it was local. I was turned off initially by not having coupons or deals; however, was pleasantly surprised with the food quality, taste and value. My folks ordered the combination egg foo young and I had the pork fried rice and Hunan beef. It was great.

Association For Animal Rights
67 Main St, ReisterstownIn 2017, I adopted my sweet girl Cookie from this shelter. She’d been there for five months, passed over time and again but fate had other plans. Our decision to bring her home was impulsive, but it became one of the most meaningful chapters of my life. Cookie lived a beautiful, full life, and though she’s now crossed the rainbow bridge, I’ll always be deeply thankful to the team who kept her safe until the universe brought us together. She was our once-in-a-lifetime companion.
