“Not only a great bookshop, but it's a badass place for a date night. Imagine my wife's surprise and delight when we had the whole place to ourselves for her birthday! The staff set up a table for us, gave us a bottle of wine and played a killer mix while we dined and danced. They also host events, make great book recommendations and are just generally very cool folks. I cannot say enough good things about them!”

I am utterly impressed with the curation of the space that has so much unequivocal character and above all "CHARM" that downtown Baltimore thrives in cultivating.The woman that owns it has a true passion for book curation. She is truly a gem in a sea of explorative readers. Books like physics dictionaries, to the more urban Iceberg slim titles will keep any person, big or small thoroughly entertained.Please patron this business; the books are so reasonably priced. It would be foolish not to stop by and AT LEAST pick up a souvenir like an Edgar Allan Poe inspired postcard or children's books for you teachers out there. If not monetary, just conversation with the owner is always a treat; she will keep you thoroughly entertained.I hope people that see this review know that I have stake in this city as lifelong resident. The people who work there are all super friendly and always making sure to help you find whatever you need. It is located in Falstaff shopping center between Star Nails and Rent a Center. Save A Lot is just two doors down so you can also get some grocery shopping done while your out.”

“This bookstore is so wonderful! A powerhouse of community engagement. I had several bags of young children's books to donate and when I came to drop them off, I learned that they have used and new books, along with an area for kids to play. They partner with the Children's House, and all new books purchased that you donate to the Children's House get a 15% discount and any used books you purchase for yourself donates a $1 to the Children's House. Jen is lovely and helpful, the bookstore is clean, organized, and welcoming. What a gem for the Catonsville community!”

“The mission: "To put unwanted books into the hands of those who want them." I adore The Book Thing. I have been a loyal monthly patron and will continue to do so. The books are absolutely free, no strings attached, FREE! And to top it off, you can take as much as you can carry out. I love exploring different genres and with my vast interests, purchasing books can be expensive not to mention terrible for the environment. I will always search the shelves at The Book Thing or go to a secondhand bookstore before purchasing newly printed books (if you can't get to The Book Thing take a look at ThriftBooks.com). The Book Thing is NOT OPEN DAILY. It is a monthly event that typically falls on the second full weekend of the month, and it alternates between Saturday and Sunday. They announce the exact dates on their website and Facebook page. If you are interested in donating books, please take the time to check their website for the exact days that you can drop off. Book donation hours are 9am-2pm on the designated days. The donation limit is 6 boxes per family. Boxes must be small enough that one person can lift them when full. They accept all types of books except encyclopedia sets. All donations are tax-deductible. We can provide a donation receipt on request reflecting the number of books donated. We also issue receipts for financial donations. Please do not leave books or boxes outside of their donation hours, you may be cited by the City for illegal dumping!”

“Co_Lab is a shared workspace concept with private offices, open workspace, conference rooms, etc. BUT it also Co_Lab Books is a design-oriented shop and bookstore in the front of the Co_Lab shared workspace area. What's a design-oriented shop/bookstore? Well, it has books, but they're mostly related to architecture, art, design, etc. They also sell home goods, jewelry, toys, games, and more. I left with a book on the history of Baltimore's row homes, but I wanted to leave with hundreds of dollars worth of Phaidon books! It's a tiny shop, but if you are in the area, looking for a gift for someone into design, into design yourself, or are just checking out all the awesome independent shops in the city, check it out!”

“What a great little hidden jewel in the building that has the gym. There is a cafe right next to it, and a health sciences library right there too. My wife wanted to stop by and take a picture for YELP, and what the heck, while we were there, we got some U of MD stuff. Camelback sippy cups, a couple of under armour T shirts, sweat pants that say U of M.....for the house in the winter, not for social functions. Got my beautiful wife a U of M V neck shirt that will look great on her. The lady there was very nice , her name was Michelle, and she was dealing with an unhappy customer, and did it being polite, and firm. Well done. This store has everything. Coffee cups, lanyards, hoodies, polo shirts, ball caps.....all University of Maryland baby!!! Can't wait to go there again. Will be a minute, we spent a few bucks.....but it supports the school. A++++”

“Barnes & Noble has returned to its niche as a bookstore for colleges and university. Johns Hopkins store is quite glitzy. The University of Baltimore is not as glitzy, but nice nonetheless. Loyola is in between. The store personnel on a quiet summer day were pleasant and helpful.”
“I miss the old days of this bookstore where I could walk through and look at every book and textbook in stock. Now, you have to have a store clerk get your textbook out of a back room. So disappointing.”
