“This MOM'S Market does not have a food counter, but plenty of vegan choices on the shelves and in the refrigerated area. Pre-made meals like lasagna and salads, beverages (including a coffee area), bulk items. A great place to stock up on kitchen staples.”

“I grew up on Atwell Rd used to come here with my great grandmother my mother we grew up around the store the coleslaw and the customer service was awesome we were there 4weeks ago and it’s still the same just like family If you’re ever in Shady side stop by Shady side market get some of those freshly made sandwiches they are off the hook also”
“I think this is a duplicate review… but the Google machine suggested I review this location: this is gotta be one of the best locations in the country. It is easily accessible, it has plenty of parking, it is very spacious inside, very clean, and everything that I want is always in stock. The employees are always very helpful and readily available.
Often as my primary location because of the 365 brand, the butcher, fresh fruit and vegetables and plethora of specialty items.”

“I just wanted to take a moment to recognize the incredible service I received from Carl during my visit today. From the moment I asked for help, he went above and beyond, not only did he help me find every item I was looking for, but he did it with genuine warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm.
He didn’t just point me in the right direction he walked with me, made sure I found exactly what I needed. What truly stood out, though, was the way he engaged in such friendly and thoughtful conversation. It felt less like a chore and more like catching up with a friend who genuinely cared.

“Cheapest gas in Prince George’s county north of Rt 4, and typically cheaper than Anne ARUNDEL stations along Rt 301.
Unfortunately they often have 1 or more pumps out of order and the hoses are too short, making difficult or impossible to fill if your tank is on the opposite side from the pumps.
But what the heck is wrong with the people using the pumps?? They form a ling snake line on the driveway, deep on time of day this line can be 20 minutes waiting with every car engine running. However the long line is exacerbated by a large number of people who won’t go into the queue until there’s a spot open at a pump.
Then they sit in their car for several minutes THEN get out walk up to the pump and fiddle with getting cards from the wallet. Sheesh how moronic!”
“Stopped in to check it out. A great spot for the hispanic community and beyond! There was a need and this store filled it! No greeting upon entering or from any team member during my visit - a pet peeve of mine… But they have all things hispanic plus regular grocery items, produce and toiletries. Very few prices on things, didn’t like that. Small meat counter and fresh made authentic food. Smelled delicious! They even have some type of money service, maybe check cashing? I didn’t buy anything but glad I know it’s here!”
“I'm not local, but spend many weeks a year in Bowie MD, and this store has surpassed all the other groceries for me in the area. Staff is outstanding, produce is fresh with lots of variety. My Kroger plus card works there.”
“This is our local grocery store. It is expensive, but you find things here you can't anywhere else like ginger preserves, really good baked goods, and great tomatoes. The bakery, produce, and seafood staff are very friendly and helpful. The deli area not so much, and the cashiers have become somewhat grumpy...They used to be very nice, these days, everyone seems unhappy, which is a shame. Their fried chicken is excellent, as is their meat department. I would like more variety in the charcuterie and cheese products...but a great place to have nearby. We are lucky.”
“Love our Giant, and you can count on good quality and fairly good variety.Management made the decision to close one of two entrances, so currently ( Fall 2023), there's only one way in or out.The newer self-checkout system is so sensitive that we often have to have assistance when our scanned items are not sensed as being "in the scanning area. " (they are..) Very frustrating. Actually impacts where we stop if we're on the way home and need to get a few things.”
“Decent store with friendly, helpful staff. They get an A+, but... not a great selection on a Saturday night, however, for flyer items. Also, there are still those horrible scales at the self-checkout bagging platform. And it was the only option on a Saturday evening for checkout. These scales are so sensitive that you can barely scan one item without the electronic "her" barking at you to "Put your item in the bagging area." It's particularly difficult if you use your own bags. We did, and "she" still shut us down each time. I really feel sorry for the staff who have to deal with this every shift. I like having Weis in town (former PA resident), but please fix or scrap the scales! They are too frustrating to make it worth shopping here.”

Nevertheless at the time of writing Giant need to be more price competitive.
Basic foodstuffs seem comparatively expensive. e.g. bread, baked beans etc.
Some candy very good value for money.
Watch unit costs on all items.
Several large quantity items are sold at a higher unit cost than smaller quantities including some of the candy.
Everything available but shelf stocks in all local grocery stores (not just Giant) are still not as high as pre-covid.”

“Giant food is my go to place for groceries. Whatever I need I can usually find here. They've come a long way ever since it got competition across the street. Giant has improved their quality, quantity, customer service. The only thing they need to improve is they need to hire more cashiers because they're busier than they have ever been and just wonder if you cash fears during high volume hours is insufficient to meter customer demand.”
“The staff at Dunkirk Safeway, including the management, cashiers, deli, meat/seafood department and pharmacy, is very friendly and willing to help customers. The store is neat and well-stocked. The manager is often seen out on the floor or in various departments assuring that shelves are well stocked and that things are running smoothly.”

Today when I shopped, my grandson was with me and who I call the Matriach of the Dunkirk store actually remembered him when he was pushing the tot grocery cart and now he's 14 and 6'3". “I've lived in Bowie 10 years and continue to return to this Giant. The staff is always lovely, helpful and cheerful. I appreciate their prices and selection even with two higher end grocery stores nearby. Also appreciate all they have done to keep things moving throughout the pandemic.”
