“Each Dollar General, although following the same formula (employees stock AND tend to customers), varies significantly by the quality of its employees. Cheshire, MA DG is one of the best I've been in throughout the country. Still, upper management clearly cares more about moving cheap merchandise than its customers, and the customers don't seem to mind.”

“Love the feeling of the old mom and pop stores from when I was a kid. Love you can get you beer and wine there. Also it is cheaper than liquor stores. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Love to shop there.”

“The sandwiches Are very good I don't understand why they can taste so good when they are made here. Excellent place , they use freshly sliced meat and fresh bread to make some of the best sandwiches that you would ask for, get a large sub here of roast beef and you won't be sorry. Basic other stuff beer soda chips, etc. you can find it here as well as a lot of old photos of through the years and of when the race track was in business, definitely an interesting place to stop. It's easy to pass by if you don't know it's there just south of where 346 intersects with 7”

“A Berkshire County gem! The samosas are so good, we had to go back the next day to get more. Delicious, non-greasy, and the tamarind sauce really takes the flavor over the top. The woman who runs the place is warm and friendly. And why are there women playing mah-jongg in the other room? Who knows--it's delightful!”

“Nice clean organized little country store with a broad mix of things. Deli was great and the owner served me right at close for some deli meat. Can't thank her enough for coming in clutch when everything else was closed.”

“They played Mitski, they have cool salsa, and they have some banging pre packaged food. Like look at that squash. Seriously scrumptious. What more could one want?”

“Small country store, very cozy! Prices are a little high, but a good selection. Gas pumps sometimes don't work so don't let it be a last stop option on your way to the ski resorts. Very nice people behind the counter!”

“Besides the fact that it's a miniature Walmart, with nothing that cost a dollar, great spot to pick up some Doritos of any flavor or an endless supply of knock off cereal. Solid candy selection, fast card reader, and lots of random stuff you'd never buy unless you were at Dollar general.”

“Staff is nice. Management philosophy understaffs location (not just this store - only way for employees to catch up, it seems, is if someone stocks shelves on their own time), forcing the store to have unstocked shelves and boxes all over the place. Every time I visit, employees are not at register but out on floor stocking. No other store forces employees to do both. I hope they are paid more than other retail stores because they definitely work harder.”

“Seems odd to review a supermarket but this is a really nice one. Excellent staff, departments, selections, bla bla, all things we already know and love. But the best thing ever invented since sliced bread is the Scan It (tm) device! Go ahead, scan sliced bread with it.Scan while you shop then scan the whole device and pay. It's an underutilized service but it's a profound improvement to checkout. If you are hesitant to try the Scan It device, it's pretty simple and staff are happy to help if you get stuck. Worst case is you end up checking out in the traditional way. Meh.To start, scan your Stop and Shop card at the Scan It kiosk near self checkout. A few moments later it will click and light up one of the scanning devices just for you. It has a touch screen and a scan trigger. As you shop, point and shoot, it goes beep, put the item in your (hopefully) reusable bag. You can fill your cart to overflowing if you want to.When you're ready, touch its Checkout button. The Checkout button will warn about finalizing your cart then displays a personal barcode. You scan that barcode at any self checkout register and pay. That's it! Boop. They might audit your cart once to make sure you're doing a good job. Staff will help if you get tangled up.There are a few ways to get tangled up in the device, namely accidentally touching screen buttons. Such buttons include price check, cart item list, probably other things. If that happens, there is also a button called Scan which sets you back to normal.”

“This particular Dollar General is very well stocked, orderly and houses helpful cheery staff, ample well placed parking, as well as the expected fair to low prices you'd expect to find in this chain. It's only real drawbacks are its out of the way location, but it is on a main road and is great if it's already between or near the place you are already heading.I personally have never had a hard time getting in and out quickly or been disappointed in variety of its stock (especially considering its smaller building size).Over all this store gets a healthy thumbs up.”

“We came here to pick up food and kitchen supplies while staying at a rental in the Berkshires. Staff was friendly and able to give us quick answers. Set-up is similar to other locations we'd been to. Prices were low, especially with so many generic items available. Shelves and appearances were adequately maintained as product (especially grocery) moves quickly.”
