For a new farmer they have provided so much assistance, tips, advice, and worked above and beyond for every animal every time called on. They follow up and respond days and weeks after the visit. I was getting answers and support from a vet on vacation! The whole team, Dr. Hess, McWilliams, Barstow, and Latham have all worked with me at various times, and they are all wonderful, knowledgeable, and very supportive!

260 Snell Street, AmherstI had an amazing experience with this practice and my extremely difficult dog, who does not like strangers, being touched, or especially being restrained. His appointment itself was completely routine—bloodwork and vaccines—but getting him safely handled for that routine care has historically been anything but routine.
The practice I use for my other dogs has only ever been able to do a visual exam on him because hands-on handling simply was not a safe option. He is a deeply mistrusting dog who will fight restraint rather than tolerate it, so I was understandably very anxious about how a routine appointment would work for him, particularly the idea of dropping him off and having him handled and sedated without me there.
What made this practice so different was their willingness to listen to me and work with me on a plan that actually made sense for *this dog*. I am not a veterinarian, but I know my dog extremely well, and I understand what he can safely tolerate and what is likely to escalate him. The staff respected that knowledge while still doing exactly what they needed to do medically.
They allowed me to stay with him, handle him myself, and help him through the process while they quietly and safely sedated him. Once he was sedated, they were able to complete his routine care without putting him through an unnecessarily difficult experience. The difference this made for both of us was enormous. I was calm, he was calm, and we were able to get everything done safely.
A good friend recommended this practice after I explained how difficult it had been to find appropriate routine veterinary care for him, and I am incredibly grateful she did. The staff's bedside manner and willingness to collaborate with me were exceptional. They never made me feel judged for having a difficult dog. They simply listened, made a plan, and helped us get through it.
I drove two hours each way for this appointment, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. He will be coming here for his veterinary care from now on. They joked that difficult dogs were becoming their specialty, and honestly, I think they may be onto something!
Thank you to the entire staff for treating both my dog and me with so much patience, understanding, and respect. You made routine care possible for a dog who is anything but routine to handle, and that means more to me than I can really put into words.

383 Main Street, AmherstWe are a year overdue on this review, but I also think that speaks to just how great of a job Wheelhouse did catering our wedding on 11/1/25. Just last weekend we were getting compliments on the food!
Everything was incredible, and even our guests with a lot of dietary restrictions told us it was some of the best wedding food they’ve ever had. Wheelhouse was so accommodating and literally built our menu around our favorite foods and what was in season. It was a lot more personal of an approach than many other caterers provide.
Beyond the food, the entire team was incredibly kind and warm throughout the planning process. They genuinely wanted to make sure we knew we were going to be taken care of, and we felt that way. We worked with Jake, Cassie, and Shannon, who were all wonderful. Shannon was on-site for our wedding day and was so lovely to work with and have there!
If you’re wondering who to book for your wedding or any catering needs, I promise you won’t regret hiring Wheelhouse. The food was amazing, the team was wonderful, and a year later our guests are still talking about it!

460 West Street, AmherstLGBTQIA+ friendly little gem hidden next to a vintage store. There’s gender neutral bathroom, board games, and peanuts (please don’t go if you’re allergic) to munch on. They have an impressive list of beers (and I mean like 50 different choices), some cocktails and wines which are good! The vibes and music are chill, especially when the college students are gone for the summer and holiday months.

28 Amity Street Ste 1G, AmherstGreat dinner on the Vespa patio last night with girlfriends. Jeff nailed the cocktails as usual. We shared the hummus/olives/pita plate, asparagus soup, arugula salad, Calabrian shrimp, and shaved lamb gyro - the potatoes on the side were SO good. We feasted, service was great, and the vibe is always warm and welcoming. John the owner even popped out to make a wine recommendation!
