“It’s taken me some time to get back to this place to leave a review for Polly and her crew at the barn but I think of my experience often I was blessed to be the wedding planner for my niece some years ago now and every spring time I’m always brought back to how absolutely perfect everything went at the wedding 3 years ago now. I cannot say that every part of the wedding plans went without a hitch but I can say that ANYTHING related to or recommended by the Powder Mill Barn went SOOO smoothly and I’m still to this day beyond thankful for those memories.

“We had our 45th wedding anniversary party at the Brass Rail. Jen, the owner, was great to work with and the staff were excellent. The venue offered different options, and all had something special. We selected the newly renovated downstairs area since it was in July. The temperature was perfect for dancing and the room was beautiful and elegantly decorated. They had just added new colored up-lighting. We chose the blue up-lights, which created a dramatic effect. Jen gave us enormous flexibility and her willing creativity allowed us to have the event we wanted. We only had one thing go wrong and she listen to our feedback and provided the compensation we requested. The test of an exceptional business is not always what goes well but how well they deal with feedback. Jen is an exceptional businesswoman who makes the Brass Rail outstanding!Al & Maxine”

“I love this movie theater, it’s my preferred movie theater to go to and it’s quite comfortable. They have the reclining seats that are fairly large and provide a good amount of space and comfort. I personally feel this is one of the cleanest movie theaters I’ve been to as well, and I appreciate the staff for the work they put in to maintain it.”
“My family and I went to the spaghetti dinner. It was delicious. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly and the sauce was very tasty. It's a nice community event. First Wednesday of each month. $8 for 12 and up. It comes with a salad and a roll also. You can get drinks at their bar. $1 for a soda.”

“A magnificent Merry Go Round from the historical Mountain Park.We attended the Tartan Christmas event hosted by the Holyoke St. Patrick's Day Committee. It was a very good time for our grandson and entire family. Santa was great. The prices are extremely affordable .We will certainly plan return soon to ride the carousel.”

“This is a great place to host a child's birthday party. I had my daughter's 5th and 10th birthday parties here. The staff is great with the kids. They have lots of fun activities for them, as well as free play. The way they move things along from start to finish is very organized, and takes away the stress of hosting a kids party. “I attended Oktoberfest at Hilltop Farm in Suffield on Oct. 7th, which was quite enjoyable even though we were hit with a wild rain storm. What a beautifully renovated old barn. Old Country provided the food and it was some of the best I’ve tasted for an event catering to easily over 300 people. The kielbasa, pulled chicken and brisket were so scrumptious that I went back twice! My wife loved the pierogi. Really nice job and the help was really pleasant. “Came in clutch when my car died on I-90 in the middle of the night, 200 miles from home.Clerk at the front desk heard my woes and let me grab a snack from the pantry free of charge. He was a super friendly guy, was nice chatting with him as he checked me in! My only complaint was that I couldn’t get a check-out extension past 1130am even after explaining my car situation to the new person at the desk in the morning. Ended up just wandering around nearby until my car was fixed (not much going on in the area). Had the chance to really make my day and the hotel seemed almost entirely empty so it was a little annoying but not the end of the world.Breakfast was on par with free chain hotel breakfast, not bad, not great. I like a cold room and the AC in there was putting in the work. Room was clean and stocked!”

“Today, November 16, 2023, I'm re-writing my review of four years ago. We've visited a friend in the area for many years and always stay here. The rooms are very clean; it's great to have a kitchenette, and the indoor heated pool is a wonderful spot to relax. The staff at the front desk are friendly and personable....a special shout-out (Yay!) to Manager Susan. Both Mary and Sundip were very welcoming this past week. And a big 'thank you' to all others who work so hard 'behind the scenes' to provide a comfortable experience! Highly recommended, EXCEPT: TERRIBLE MATTRESSES! The new pillow-top mattresses are ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! It's like sleeping in a hammock. The only way to get into bed is to crawl in on hands and knees. Worse, try to turn over and you have to pull yourself up out of the abyss; it feels like you've fallen into marshmallows. Getting out of bed means crab-crawling on your back. The most used side of the bed is the worst as it is the most concave. The original mattresses were very comfortable. Pillow-tops are the WORST DECISION EVER BY CORPORATE MANAGEMENT!”

“This is the first time I have stayed at this hotel. I was surprised at how nice the hotel was and how friendly the staff were. Restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Parking is so convenient, and I can see my vehicle from the window. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.”
“Venue that can be rented to have celebrations. Ample parking, restrooms are NOT handicapped accessible due to they are down a flight a stairs. Were short staffed on bartenders but when she was at post she was friendly and tactful.”
