Memorial Day is important, but remembering our fallen shouldn’t be limited to one day a year. I was interested in visiting Jake’s Java after learning Jake was serving in the U.S. Air Force when his aircraft crashed during a training exercise, claiming the lives of all eight crew members on board.
As a combat veteran myself, I wanted to support a local business that honors service and sacrifice. This was my first visit to Jake’s, and I’m so glad I stopped by.
Not only was the food excellent, but it was clearly made with love. In fact, that describes the entire atmosphere. The owner, Jake’s mother Kim, is a wonderful woman, and if you stop by, you won’t regret taking a moment to say hello.
I highly recommend coming by for a cup of coffee, a sandwich, or simply to pay your respects. Outside, you’ll find eight beautifully crafted picnic tables, each dedicated to one of the fallen service members. Take a seat, enjoy the moment, and spend some time reflecting on the heroes whose legacy lives on here.
Jake’s Java is more than a coffee shop—it’s a tribute, a gathering place, and a reminder that our fallen heroes should never be forgotten.
