Everything looks fresh, tastes vibrant, and is priced so fairly that you can shop with both joy and peace of mind.
My favorite part of Gala Foods has always been the deli — truly one of the best in all of Worcester (and I say that as a former deli worker!). Their sandwiches are made with love and precision, bursting with flavor and generosity.
I especially want to recognize Alfred, one of the deli staff members, who consistently went above and beyond. His kindness, humor, and genuine attentiveness turned an ordinary lunch stop into something special. He treated us not just like customers, but like guests, and you could tell he takes pride in making food that touches people’s hearts.
What stands out most about Gala Foods is the culture of care that shines through every person there. The whole team radiates friendliness and sincerity — it’s clear that leadership has created an environment where people love what they do and love who they work with. That kind of joy can’t be faked; it’s felt in every smile and every fresh, delicious bite.
The selection of Latin American foods is also outstanding — diverse, authentic, and beautifully presented. You can feel the pride and cultural richness that Gala Foods brings to the community.
Every time I left Gala Foods, I felt nourished not only in body but in spirit. I’m so grateful this place exists — it’s a true gem in Worcester and a reflection of everything good about food, people, and community.

“Since they have gone to bagging the veggies (3 peppers per bag), etc, I'm not as happy. Veggies/ fruits don't seem as fresh as before and it is so much nicer to pick the veggie/fruit you want. What about all the extra plastic that is producing and wasting on the environment??”
“This store is absolutely one of the cleanest grocery store! I mainly drop in for the freshly made soups and chili/especially the chili. The selections for ready made dinners are fantastic with a large variety to chose. I never do a complete shop there because it's out of my price range. But the chili and soups are Mmmm! and I never had a bad ready made meal. So Thank you cleaning staff and the entire work force...you folks are on the ball?”

“This store was better than I expected. I have visited the Goldstar Blvd location and was less than impressed there. The staff were helpful and pleasant with finding things I was looking for and found someone who could understand me better when it was needed. They didn't have everything I was looking for though. Their prices were pretty good. You will need your own bags or pay for theirs. The self check out noticed the weight of my empty bags when I put them down while paying. The store was nicer looking inside than I was expecting and well stocked with what they did have.”

We recently moved to the area so despite it being more expensive than Market Basket, this will be our new regular grocery store. (The nearby Price Chopper may do in a pinch, but just isnt as nice inside.)”
“After several visits to A&T Halal Crispy Fried Chicken and Convenience, I am beyond impressed with both the quality of their food and the warm, welcoming service. Every dish I've tried, especially the crispy fried chicken, was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and left me craving more. The convenience aspect is just as commendable; it’s a one-stop shop for many essentials. The staff always greets me with a smile and goes above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience. “Not a big 'supermarket', but they have the essentials. They have some really good meat & deli products such as marinated meats, deli meats & cheeses, a nice selection of greeting cards, some local merchandise, etc. They also carry a large selection of beer and wines.There's also a full-service Post Office counter in the store, so that's a plus too. It's nice to have a local market, especially one that has a really GREAT owner/operator. Carlos is a very personable and very accommodating local store owner! “You can find almost everything there. Just don't buy their fruit!!! Bought a precut watermelon and when I brought it home to eat it, it was like biting into the sole of a shoe!! No lie. The rest of the fruit I bought was like eating a sponge. Other than that, the rest of the things I bought were ok. I will never buy any type of fruit from them.”
“I went to the grocery store for my first time and had an excellent experience. I went in the middle of the day in the parking lot had plenty of space. I entered the trailer and was still able to find a few spots where I could park upon entering everything was festive and Set up for the holidays. “Al Basrah Halal Market is one of those small, cozy shops that quietly becomes part of your routine before you even realize it.
It's not huge, and the selection isn't endless—but everything it does have is thoughtful. I would stop in every few days for little things: drinks, sweets, chocolates, sometimes fruit, sometimes something new I hadn't seen before. They carry a mix of halal and imported goods—baklava, candies, dried and canned items, teas, and a fridge/freezer section with drinks and frozen foods. Everything feels clean, organized, and well cared for, and the prices are genuinely excellent—much better than what you find in typical supermarkets.
What really kept me coming back, though, wasn't just the products—it was the feeling of the place. The store is calm and welcoming, never crowded, with a quiet energy that makes it easy to browse and take your time. And the staff are genuinely kind—warm, friendly, and attentive without ever being intrusive. There's a natural hospitality here that makes you feel comfortable and seen, and it left me curious about their stories and the culture they bring to this little corner of Worcester.

“I have been to stores that sell Vietnamese products, but there is a general situation that fresh seafood is very unhygienic because it is not stored in a glass cabinet, the store has a very smelly smell. When I go to buy food, I feel that the store is not hygienic. It is recommended that the manager should put fresh seafood for sale in a glass cabinet to ensure hygiene, especially seafood products. The 3rd time I came here on a Sunday and found the store smells too bad, the rice place is very dirty and unhygienic.”

“Delicious fish and chips and this time We tried the platter! Yum!! Fresh and well cooked!!! I don’t know if they forgot the coleslaw or it’s different now but We ordered 4 dishes: 2 fish and chips and 2 platters and we didn’t get any coleslaw. I will ask next time because this was unexpected. That’s my reason for the 4 stars”

The moment we walked in, everything looked clean and well-organized. The fridge items were fresh and clearly rotated properly. We picked up kabab, kebah, and a few other items - everything was flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and felt homemade in the best way.
We spent over $200 and honestly, it felt like a great deal considering the quality and portions. Even after reaching home, everything we ordered was packed carefully - including the two falafel packs we almost forgot we had ordered. Nothing was missing, and nothing felt off.
The owner was polite, professional, and very attentive. You can tell they care about the business and their customers. If you're in or around Worcester, don’t miss this place. Authentic, honest, and definitely one of the hidden gems for Arabic cuisine. We’ll be returning for sure.”
