The Cat Hospital
139 Damon Rd c, NorthamptonMy kitties and I love the team at the Cat Hospital! It is a calm healing environment with good energy— especially for nervous kitties! You can tell that Dr. Ricksgers and the staff live and breathe all things feline. Their passion for cats is palpable. They treat my boys with the best of care and we’ve been coming here for two years. They are also involved with a local rescue and they’ve saved countless lives. I also like that the office is incredibly clean and COVID-cautious, because I get sick very easily.

Florence Animal Clinic
185 Locust St, NorthamptonI can’t say enough good things about Florence Animal Clinic. Both Dr. Lorenzo and Dr. Kefer are truly wonderful. I’ve trusted them with the care of multiple cats. They are knowledgeable, compassionate, and thoughtful in how they approach treatment. They take the time to explain options, answer questions, and make sure you feel supported every step of the way.
I also really appreciate their judgment and honesty. When something requires more specialized attention, they’re thoughtful about referring out rather than trying to do everything in-house, which speaks volumes about their professionalism and commitment to what’s best for the animal.
The staff is equally fantastic: kind, responsive, and clearly dedicated to both pets and their people. It’s rare to find a clinic where medical excellence and genuine warmth come together so consistently. Highly recommend.

Progression Brewing Company
9 Pearl St, NorthamptonI encountered beers from Progression Brewing at beer festivals around, but this was my first visit to the brewery. The place is spacious. It consists of one big room, with a small elevated area at the entrance that is a bit separated from the rest. The indoor walls are beautifully painted in multiple themes. There are pinball machines available. A band was playing during my visit, so events are going on. The place has a full kitchen. I ordered a flatbread, and while it was tasty, I found it to be a bit too dry.
There are a lot of beers available on tap. The focus of Progression is IPAs - they take about half of taps. I'm not a fan of this style, but luckily the other half of taps is diverse enough. There is an option of ordering a flight of four to try more beers. For this review I tried all of the beers that I hadn't tried before. The majority of the beers were solid with a notable place going to Omen (Stout) and The Adults are talking (IPA). I was also surprised by their seltzers, as they actually had a great taste compared to many others I had before.
Overall, I enjoyed my visit and I will recommend visiting Progression Brewing to others.

Oliver Smith Restaurant
80 Locust St, NorthamptonIf you have never dined here before, you are in for a surprising treat. The Culinary Arts Department at the Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School operates a student-run restaurant three days a week, Wednesday through Friday of most weeks, from 10:45 AM to 12:30 PM. The students, under the supervision of three chef instructors, learn every aspect of food preparation and service. There is menu service on Wednesdays and Thursdays and an all you can eat buffet on most Fridays, which is currently priced at only $15.00. The menu changes weekly and is posted online. This is genuinely one of the hidden gems of the Pioneer Valley.

Spoleto
1 Bridge St, NorthamptonWe all enjoyed our meals. Service was good however our bill was padded. The price for drinks was $2 more than the menu stated. Also, the $40 bottle of wine should have only been $20, since it is half price on Wednesdays. The waiter corrected the bill with an honest apology. We will go back despite the mix up.
