I have an 07 explorer sport trac and I needed a timing chain the one that needed to be replaced required the engine to come out I thought this was going to be big bucks to my surprise it turned out very reasonable and they did a great job fixing it then about 10 days later had to have the front exhaust pipe and muffler fixed went back to Preferred and again the cost was very reasonable now my truck runs like new very happy about the work that was done and I'm sure you will be too. “I brought my car in for the 48k mile service which included the normal oil change, fluids, tire rotation and inspection. I asked if they could swap my winter wheel set on instead of just rotating the tires. They were mounted on rims and balanced so the only thing they would need to do after taking the wheels off for the rotation or brake inspection was put a different set back on, this usually costs $20 or so at a tire shop but the service manager quoted $130.
Out of principle I decided I would get all the work done somewhere else. I would have been fine with a dealer markup, but to charge a full mount and balance for the time it takes to take my other wheels out of my back seat and put them on is insane.
I'm still going to give 4 stars for the fact that when I bought the car new in 2018 I thought the process was fine and my salesman was awesome, service was mostly great until my last visit, and for reminding me that paying over $200 for an oil + filter change is kind of absurd and you can spend much less by buying what you need and taking it to a local shop”
