“Recently spent the weekend in Detroit to attend the Mac football championship and stayed at the Fort Ponchartrain had had a great experience. The location is ideal; Walkable to a number of sites downtown and the tram will take you to the arts district.

Notably, the hotel staff were very professional and courteous. Treat yourself to the rooftop bar that has a panoramic view of Detroit and Canada. Patrice are Craig are both expert mixologists. Patrice made me the best Kahlúa cream I’ve ever tasted. She made it very creamy. Craig prepared a tequila, lemonade concoction for my husband that he thoroughly enjoyed. They are both extremely professional and personable.”

“You will enjoy staying at this former firehouse. It has a really chill vibe, and very comfortable beds. However, there won't be any alarm bells going off here. Sweet dreams.”

“David assisted us with late night hospitality on Wednesday, 10/9. We really appreciate his attention to customer service and his pleasant personality! PS I love the new hotel setup and room redo! We also ate at Presley’s and had a wonderful meal!

Food and drinks: Presley’s very nice! Great food and drinks!”

“Our group hosts a conference for 75 people in different cities each year. In 2025 we had a fantastic time at the Cambria Hotel Detroit Downtown! Communication leading up to the conference was attentive and professional, food was creative and plentiful, rooms were clean and well-tended. The level of service, from sales to front office to food and beverage, was IMPECCABLE. Each department head greeted us and checked in throughout the week; the staff recognized us and treated everyone as friends. We were so pleased and can't recommend the Cambria enough.”

“Travelled from Canada and arrived at 1am. We let them know ahead of time and they made sure to accomodate for us despite no one being at the front desk that late. They gave us detailed instructions on how to get into our room on our own, and the entire process was so easy!

Service was exceptional and the guy at the front desk is very friendly and accommodating. Check out time was 11am and as we were leaving we told him we would be sitting at the cafe next door till our bus back at 4pm. He offered to keep our luggage with him until we actually left so we could keep exploring the area! We really appreciated his attentiveness. Would recommend to anyone new in the area, perfect spot for exploring Detroit!”

“The hotel is dated but that's part of the appeal with this property. It's past its prime, but it's still a comfortable and clean property with large rooms. Where it excels is the service and location. The staff here are exceptional and the location is in the heart of Greektown.”

“My wife and I arrived early Sunday for a 3 night stay. This was our second time staying here. It's in a great location walking distance to Comerica and Ford Field. The entire staff go out of their way to be helpful. The Trolley Cafe is top Noth. The manager of the Cafe is Christian and she is a delightful woman. Last year we arrived a few minutes after the kitchen closed and she went out of her way to make sure we had something to eat. Housekeepers are spot on as well. We really couldn't ask for more. Oh the two Coney Island dog cafes Lafayette and American are 2 minutes away”

“Rooms were nice but my door took some wiggling before it would actually close. Stayed 5 nights and no maid service ever came. This wasn’t told to me at the front desk. Greektown wasn’t impressive, but the hotel was good and loved that I could self park for free”

“Our room was spacious, and we had our own parking spot right in front of it. The inn's location is great; easy walking distance to downtown. Founders Brewing is close by. We felt safe. The owner, Mona, really aimed to please. Her breakfasts were delicious. Lots to do in Detroit; we're looking forward to returning. When we do, we'll stay at this wonderful inn.”

“Great price for such a walkable location as it’s close to everything we came into Detroit for! We walked everywhere at all times of night and felt very safe in the area. Lady at the front desk was so nice and helpful and check in/out was super easy. There’s a mini fridge and microwave provided and our A/C worked great. The rooms look dated but it’s clean and charming!”

“The rooms are very comfortable with excellent amenities and the wifi works very well. The restaurant leaves a lot to be desired for its service but the breakfast buffet (complimentary) is quite good. There are not many food options nearby so its location is not the best.

Rooms: Clean comfortable and good amenities

Walkability: Two restaurants

Noteworthy details: Complimentary breakfast buffet”

“Clean, comfortable, 3 hr for rooms at 35$ 5 dollar return fee 40-5 $35. Good place to have a break or quick meeting place to see family or friends

Rooms: Security cameras, good lighting and cleaned rooms, bug free

Safety: Security cameras patrolled, well lighting, mature guest, no issues”

“Starting with the good: the facility is beautiful, clean, and unique. My room was well-appointed with all the features you'd expect from a good hotel. Hamilton's restaurant is great, and the lobby is very comfortable.
However, the issues were mostly due to staff inconsistency. Some interactions were great, with warm and attentive service, but other staff seemed like they simply couldn't be bothered to help customers. I understand that curating a great staff is difficult, but this experience pales in comparison to my other Detroit hotel stays like at The Henry.”

“The Normandie Hotel is not perfect but it gets five stars because of the following reasons:1. No felony background checks;2. No credit checks;3. No housing discrimination;4. Immediate occupancy;5. Nice cozy clean room. Surprised the hell out of me. Laid on that bed and fell out. TV, a little refrigerator, and a microwave. I loved it.6. It is a place to live when it is hard to find a house or an apartment right away; and7. The people there do not tolerate no BS. They will not allow you in without pay stubs. If I ever find myself in a position where I need and immediate roof over my head, I know where to go.”
